Progesterone
Hi there! I need to ask a question and I would really like an answer. Is any form of progesterone (cream, pill.) safe while breastfeeding??
Thank you God and Our Lady

Vitex supposedly raises progesterone.
b6 supposedly does.
There are lots of mini-pills that contain progesterone that people take while BFing.
I don't think the cram does much

I obtained progesterone the day after my BFP and I took it until about 12 weeks.
I took it twice a day and it was the pill.
DS nursed just fine..
I was SO greatful to have it though, because I started out my DD's pregnancy bleeding. The whole first week.. I'm not sure why. It kept my little sweetie in there though, and that's all I care about.
It's probably more logical right after a loss though.. I'm not sure about having it before you get pregnant.. because you HAVE to keep taking it and not forget until you are out of the first trimester.Age 7 5 MC May 2012 BFP June 2012 My ~*Princess*~ is now 3 yrs old! MC May 2015 Chemical June 2015

I am confused becasue I know like dozens of women who have done prog support during breastfeeding and also the progesterone only minipill is approved as safe while breastfeeding.
Tons of women breastfeed while pregnant, including myself twice, and your prog. levels are way higher then anyway.
No one can tell you that something is absolutely safe - we just don't have enough info to be able to say.
I think you need to Google a bit because progesterone support has not even been shown to improve pregnancy outcomes anyway.!!! Questions?? Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I think why I asked this question was for swaying reasons I heard progesterone sways girl so was wondering if I were to get progesterone cream to use in my sway, would that be safe for breastfeeding. Also, is it not wise to take Vitex and progesterone cream at the same time or are there no risks?

Oh ok I thought it was related to your other question about prog support and breastfeeding. My confusion stems from why doctors tell you not to do prog support but then approve the prog only BCP while breastfeeding, and not anything that you did/said. Sometimes it seems to me like some doctors have it in for, or at the least don't appreciate, extended BF and give advise that is logically inconsistent because they don't value it.
Do not do the prog cream for a sway. There is no real evidence that prog = girls anyway, the prog creams will just screw your cycle up for no benefit, and you do undertake the risk to your BF baby as well (even tho I don't take that very seriously). Plus, I do think you can risk yoru future pregnancy with the prog cream unless you do the cream every day throughout the first trimester (or go onto prescription strenght prog support)!!! Questions??
