    Best and Worst during +OPK

    Good Morning Ladies!!

I am on pins and needles waiting for + OPK and was wondering, what are the best and worst things to do during this time (Ovulation). I have heard to up aspartame, maybe avoid red meat, drink wine... Any thoughts?

I'm going to follow this post. I'm drinking more crystal light, avoiding all meat for the next two weeks (I had white chicken maybe three times total in the past three months) I'm also sticking to the totals and being very strict. First attempt on Sunday! (Possibly Saturday )

Crossing fingers for you!! Question, why are you going to be strict for two weeks (2ww)? Once the egg is implanted don't we have to eat more? Excuse my ignorance please, I just want to understand.

It's not a guarantee to get pregnant the first time. So usually people stay on the diet until they get a positive pregnancy test.

Bc can u imagine if you didn't do the diet during the 2ww and ate all kinds of steak & burger & lots of fattening chocolate (lol, this is me, sorry!) & you didn't get a positive test?

The females develop better in a low glucose environment you want to give it the best chance to "stick"

I don't know how to post a link:-/ but under TTC girl best practices there is a sticky for when and how to eat.

    Good Luck!!

I don't ever recommend increasing aspartame beyond the 2-3 12/16 oz servings. that is the safe level approved by the FDA for during pregnancy and I don't think there are any benefits to increasing it.

Honestly, I don't think diet wise, a few days make any difference at all, even if they are right before O. Avoiding red meat is just in general part of the diet. Alcohol I do think sways pink but not sure if it only matters right around ovulation or if you have to be using it for awhile. You might want to ave your hubby take some hot baths OR go cycling (not both)

The egg doesn't implant for about 7 days after that. We think it is best to stick with diet as best you can during that period because the fertilized eggs seem to do better in differing environments...XY do best in higher glucose, XX in lower glucose (this is the best proven part of swaying). Plus that way you don't undo the good you've done with diet! 2 weeks is a long time and goes a long way towards improving your condition were you pigging out the whole time.

Re safety for the baby - babies are nothing more than a tiny ball of cells and taking nothing from you at that point. It's fine not to be eating for two at first. Once you get a positive pregnancy test that is ample time to start prenatals, change diet, etc.
