Thread: LP question

    LP question

I just did my first round of femara. Cd 5-9, 2.5mg with 200 mg of progesterone for ten days starting 3dpo. I ended up with a 11 day LP. i bounce between an 11 and 13 day LP on an unmedicated cycle. Shouldn't I be seeing a longer LP with all this medicine? I dont want to be taking things if it isnt giving me much benefit, ya know? I am talking to my doctor about doses for the next cycle tomorrow and thought I would see if anyone had a similar situation. Thanks!

Yes, you should. Personally I think you need 5mg and should take it CD3-7.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after removìng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I also think you should do the Femara sooner but I do want to reassure you that 11-13 days is long enough to get pregnant and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

THere have been a couple people who suddenly developed super short LP on Clomid when they never had one before. I do not know why, it's not supposed to work that way and usually doesn't.

I was one of those lucky ones that went down to a 9 day LP on clomid! My last month of it, it did go back up to 12 days.

Do you think progesterone is necessary? The only thing it has stopped is a few days of spotting prior to the start of AF. I would usually spot for 2-3 days and then start af. Since taking it i have either just spotted the day before or immediately started af. But my LP has not lengthened.

    I took femara 5 mg cd 3-7.
Not sure what the progesterone is for.
I can let you know what it does as far my LP goes.
I agree with maiden about seeing if you can take cd3-7.

Re progesterone, it is my experience that 9 days is enough to get pregnant an 11-13 is more than enough. Progesterone has been studied and was not shown to help people with anything less than a critically short LP (lik 3-7 days, very unusual) get and stay pregnant. I typically do not recommend it for anyone with anything longer than 7 days LP.

But, a lot of people do choose to use it and that is at your discretion.

The only thing I like about the progesterone is the good sleep I get. Otherwise, itmis making me bloated, break out, want to eat a ton....many things not worth it if it is not changing my LP. She out me in it after clomid shortened my LP to 9 days. I tried telling her that prior to clomid my LP was fine. I am going to skip it this month and see what happens. No call from Dr yet, so I started 2.5mg on cd3.

If you're pregnant, your body will start making the progesterone on its own. It is up to you what you want to do (at least you have kind of low prog - some people are given prog with perfectly normal levels.) I think most doctors like to appear that they're doing something, even if it's proven to be a placebo.
