    Cardio, length of time...

    Why 60 minutes?

    I can get to the gym, no problem. But, the childcare people usually come and get me anywhere between 30 and 45 min into my workout. My 2 year old son just doesn't want to be there and gets so upset. In the last week I've been able to get 50 minutes a few times.

    Why does it have to be 60 minutes and could it be different for different body types?

    I can definitely be there 6 days a week. Its just the length of time I can't always guarantee.

    My younger son hated gym daycare and would scream there so they used to come get me but now he's fine. I either walked them in a double jogger stroller. Or just walked when DH was home. I just bought the walk away the pounds DVD for like $5 on amazon and did that and liked it. My kids just played games and did puzzles while I did.


    The 60 minutes is critical.

    Do you happen to know where I can find the study or thread that explains why the 60 minutes is critical? Of course I know it doesn't make a difference in my situation but I'm just curious. Does intensity matter? Is walking enough? I usually go pretty hard core on the elliptical or treadmill lol maybe I'm trying too hard.

    Walking and pushing a stroller would work fine, it's too bad the weather is so unpredictable right now :-/

    Because after 45 minutes or so, the body runs out of carbs to burn and starts burning stores of fat and even muscle. Something about this seems to sway pink (and this seems to have something to do with why the fasting helps, too) Exercising for 30-45 min you may only build muscle and not shrink it, which is our ultimate goal.

    Can you do something like walk him in a stroller for 30 min. first and then go in and hopefully exercise for a while after that??

    It's not a study, just us trying to find the most effective ways to shrink muscle mass and you have to go at least 45 minutes because up until that point, your body only just burns off the carbs in your blood******.

    Intensity seems to matter less than the overall time. Now, it's great if you can do super intense exercise, but if you can't, walking has gotten good results too.

    Oh yeah if my kids would get cranky in the stroller, I would go home and let them play outside then I would walk laps in my backyard while the played. My neighbors probably thought I was crazy.

    what you have to understand is that to some extent, I have to come up with a "blanket prescription" that I think will work for most people most of the time. It doesn't mean you can't get a girl doing something different, I'm just saying I think doing it like "this" will be most reliable for the majority of people.
