    When to try!

    Hello,

This is my first post. I have two boys and we would like to try for a girl this time! I am going to buy a plan but I can't afford to until the end of this month so I'm just trying to make sense of all the information and start the diet myself.

I'm already on a low calorie diet (I follow Scottish Slimmers which is a bit like Weightwatchers) so in the last week I've gone vegetarian, cut down on eggs and am trying to eat bigger meals so I don't snack so much. I'm also going 12 hours overnight before having breakfast.

My first boy was conceived after I lost 3 stone but I was very much grazing all day long and he was conceived in the second cycle of trying. Number 2 took a lot longer but I was still breastfeeding his brother and I was missing ovulation as it was happening a lot later than before! Although I was still on a calorie controlled diet he was conceived at the beginning of January after a few weeks of stuffing my face for Christmas!

I've still got 14lbs to lose so I'm not sure whether to make an attempt at my next ovulation time in 4.5 weeks, or wait until November which will be in 9 weeks time. I don't want to wait until after Christmas as I'm 35 and husband is 40 so time is ticking on!

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer me!

I'm still breastfeeding my youngest (he's almost 3) in case that is relevant. I'm reasonably active but won't have the opportunity for daily cardio.

    Hi and welcome!

I would wait till 8 weeks after making the diet changes. We've not had the best result with 2-4 weeks on diet. We've had decent results with Weight Watchers type programs (vegetarian) so I would just carry on with that.

Breastfeeding does appear to sway pink a bit but of course is no magic bullet (as you would attest!)

Good luck and let me know how else I can help!
