    Late ovulation

    Hi

I’m currently on CD21 and still haven’t ovulated. I usually ovulate around CD19-21.

I took Clomid from CD3-7, have been doing the PCOS LE diet - around 50g protein, 60g fat and 1,600 cals. A week ago I added in coconut oil (I’m vegan so wouldn’t do eggs/fish) - which took me from around 50g fat to 60g. I’m not sure what I should do. I’ve been using OPKs every day and the last four have had faint positive lines. Usually I get a faint positive one day, a strong positive the next and then ovulate a day later, but I’m just not getting that strong positive.

    I do a fast walk for 60 mins a day, 5 days a week.

Do I just need to be patient, or should I be doing something differently?

    Thanks.

Oh, I should also mention.... I was taking myo-inositol up until my last period. I was taking a really low dose. I really find it helps with my PCOS. I always used to lose handfuls of hair every time I washed it, but when I take myo-inositol I lose next to nothing, however, both cycles that I’ve taken it with Clomid (which apparently shouldn’t be an issue to take them together) my already short LP (usually 9-10 days) lessens to 6 days, so I dropped it for this cycle.

Last time I stopped taking the myo-inositol (when I was taking more of it), when I stopped it, my hair loss was terrible.

I’m wondering if this has something to do with my late ovulation....

First, let me explain about the hair loss. There are many reasons why you might lose hair. You're assuming this is testosterone related due to PCOS but that is a gradual process that takes time. It doesn't go off and on suddenly like that. What you're describing to me sounds like a kind of very common hormone-related hair loss called "telogen effluvium" and it is not related to PCOS per se but sudden shifts in hormones and stressful events or declined condition (people often notice this after stopping birth control, having been very sick, and most commonly after childbirth.)

So if you are taking myoinositol and your hair loss suddenly stops and you stop it and hair loss suddenly begins, there is NO WAY that it's from stopping/starting the myo. It's just coinicidental from things that happened 2-6 months earlier. I have an indepth explanation of how TE works here if you're interested. https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum...ing-out-2.html And it is very unlikely to be from testosterone/PCOS as well because that happens much more gradually.

Now, to answer your question about the delayed O, you will very very likely O eventually. I think that the reason you're not ovulating is NOT from PCOS and stopping the myo but because you've been not eating enough and taking the myo (which can lower your hormones further.) Yes, you've stopped taking it, but it can take time for things to get moving again once O has stopped. I agree 110% that regardless of what "they" say taking Clomid and Myo together can stop ovulation and shorten LP (and this is NOT from PCOS) especially given that you're eating lower cals and exercising.

What is your BMI? I know you've told me this on other threads but just want to be sure.

I think you need to eat more (cals and protein) and I can't recommend myoinositol for anyone at that weight. I think you are much more likely to be having issues ovulating due to your hormones being too low than being too high, and myoinositol is only going to aggravate that.

Ok, so AF showed up today at just 5 dpo. I weighed myself today and I’m 7st 6lbs (104lbs), so my BMI is actually 17.7. I know it’s my weight that caused my late ovulation and non-existent LP. My chest is non-existent too!

I was thinking I should up my cals to 1800 by just increasing carbs, like adding a baked potato to one of my meals. This would mean that my carbs would be around 280g. I’d keep my fat and protein at 60g. What do you think/suggest?

    Thanks.

Whatever it takes to keep weight on at this point. I know you have some concerns about PCOS but given this low weight it is very unlikely that your cycle is irregular from PCOS and it is almost certainly from your low weight, and carbs are the best way to regain that weight.
