    BBT, did I ovulate?

    Hello ladies,

    Can some one take a look and help me out?
    I have been taking my BBT now for the first time. Because my thermometer wasn’t working I got a new one but started temping a bit late.
    Anyhow, looking at my chart, do you think I had an ovulation?
    On cd 21 at 10.30am a positive OPK (couldnt get more positive) however Im not sure my temperature is doing what it should do after ovulation...
    Can anyone help me out by giving their opinion?

    Are you temping at the same time every day? I see the open triangles which mean temp was taken at a different time than normal. Time change can really affect your temps and skew your chart. If taken earlier than your normal time, your temp can be lower, and if taken later, your temp can be higher.

    What I do is set my alarm for the same time every day, at the earliest time I have to get up. For example, most of the week I have to get up at 630 due to work. So, I set my alarms every single day for 630am (I just set one for 630am in my phone and have daily repeat on). I’m off on the weekends, but I still wake up at 630am when my bbt alarm goes off, take and record my temp, then go back to sleep for a few hours, LOL. On days when I work, my alarm goes off at 630, I take and record my temp, then get up for the day.

    Here’s my current chart for reference (open circles are due to “sleep deprived” — tossed and turned all night due to heat/humidity/old AC failing, = higher than normal temps)

    I can't tell from this chart. I'm going to need to see what happens over the next few days. This is not what I consider to be a classic ovulatory chart. Doesn't mean you didn't ovulate (esp. given the positive OPK) but it's just that I can't say with confidence as tomorrow we could see a big rise or a drop in temps that will undo the pattern.

    Thank you so much for your answer!
    At first I had my alarm set every morning at 6.30 and then take and record my temp and either get up or go back to sleep. However... my nearly 9 month old little man has been waking up around midnight and around 3 or 5 am some days. As my husband doesnt hear him I would get out of bed, give him his pacifier and go back to bed. But then that can influence your temp too right? So now my husband does get out of bed if the little one wakes up around 5am. But... then I also read that it is best to take and record your temp right after waking up, because waking up at say 6am and then snoozing a bit until 6.30 to take and record temp also influences it im so confused as to what is best.
    If taking temp early = lower temp en taking temp later makes the temp higher, then I’ve got a better feeling that I have ovulated because since positive OPK my temp would actually be higher than it was when I took it because I took it earlier.
    See below:

    (-) taken earlier so should make temp lower
    (+) taken later so should make temp higher
    *taken on time

    36,54 - 6.30am *
    36.52 - 6.05am (-) not lower
    36,53 - 6.20am *
    36,63 - 6.30am *
    36,53 - 6.05 am (-) not lower
    36,67 - 7.05am (+) is higher 0.13
    36.59 - 7.05am (+) is higher 0.05
    36.67 - 7.20am (++) is higher 0.13
    36.58 - 7.35am (++) is higher 0.04
    36.54 - 7.00am (+) is NOT higher pos OPK
    36.61 - 6.15am (-) is NOT lower but higher 0.07
    36.75 - 6.25am * higher by 0.21
    36.72 - 5.45am (-) is NOT lower but higher 0.18

    We can't really tell what your temp would have been unfortunately. Just because the trend is for the temp to have been higher or lower doesn't mean that is always going to be the case and it's set in stone. We just don't know for sure.

    but the good news is this high temp again today does seem to be pointing in the direction that ovulation has occurred.
