There are over 150 clinics within the United States that offer IVF/PGD for family balancing purposes. When you are living outside of the US, finding a clinic can be difficult.
IVF for Gender Selection is illegal in most areas of the world including Canada, most of Europe and Australia. Just like the US, there are families that are very interested in family balancing in those same parts of the world which makes it seem like an impossibility for most.
There are International options though. SART in Thailand is an option for those living in Australia that cannot travel to the US due to distance and/or expense. There are two clinics in Cyprus that offer Gender Selection services and Embio in Athens, Greece. The Czech Republic has a clinic that will offer IVF/PGD with sex determination too.
So, there are options. One of the issues with International clinics is there is no reporting organization like the CDC or SART.org to collect data to get information on the odds of success at any of those clinics. It is a major issue when one is trying to decide where to go. They may publish anything on their websites but it is hard to trust without any governing body to oversee the results.
So, what can one do? You can talk with others that have been before you and learn which clinics have good reputations and which ones do not. We know the difference between clinics, the testing they use, how many embryos they transfer and anything else you may need to ask to help make your decision about where to cycle.
