FF charting - Comparing your own bfp charts!
Hi ladies,
I'm in the dreaded 2WW! 8dpo today..
Does anyone know if it is possible to have an implantation dip on one cycle and still implant and not have an implantation dip in another cycle?
It looks like I had an "implantation dip" for all of my seven pregnancies. So far this cycle I haven't had a dip and my temps are still high. Is it possible that I could still have implanted without a dip? I'm loosing my hope..
Ironically my bfn charts looks more "steady" high and not much dips and my bfp charts are more like all over the place. So I hate to see my temp going steady, ha ha!2012 @5w

The implantation dip is not actually a thing. It's a misnomer. What that dip is, is called the secondary estrogen surge and it happens because at about 7 dpo, the corpus luteum starts to break down, so your body releases a surge of estrogen to maintain your uterine lining a little longer and allow a fertilized egg to burrow in and send a signal to your ovary to keep the corpus luteum alive to make more progesterone. Since estrogen lowers temps, when you release that surge of estrogen, it can register as a lower temp for a day or so on your chart, and this happens at the same time the corpus luteum is struggling a bit so progesterone (which raises temps) can drop at the same time. But it is NOT because anyone is implanting, it's because your body made that estrogen.
Many people get those dips every month even when not pregnant. Many more others NEVER get them even when they are pregnant. And many many more people have them sometimes and not other times.
They did a study on Fertility Friend which you can see here: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs...dip-study.html and found that in cycles when people have a very visible temp dip 7 DPO or so, they are somewhat more likely to get pregnant than in cycles where they don't (23% as opposed to 11%). This is why people originally thought it had to do with implantation. But it ISN'T implantation, and it's nowhere near 100% (as you can tell, 23% and 11% are really small numbers of people!!)!!! Thank you for your reply atomic! I appreciate all of your advice and your knowledge so much!
I can't stop wondering WHY this study claiming it's more likely to get pregnant with these dips. This is true for me. Do you have any theories?
I can totally understand what you're saying and the effects of hormones on bbt.2012 @5w

Because in cycles you're more "hormone-y" it may be that you release more/better eggs and/or have a better lining. The more estrogen you have on hand, it can be good for all sorts of things. Plus, many people have a short LP NOT because they have low progesterone, but because they have low estrogen - they don't have a good secondary estrogen surge, and so their lining starts to break down, and the baby doesn't have enough time to implant to signal the corpus luteum not to break down before the pregnancy ends. This may be a cause of some chemical pregnancies (and why it is so important on LE Diet to continue eating enough fat!!)

Yes those are the pink dye tests, I was talking about the Clearblue one which has blue dye.
I do see a faint line but I would wait some to really get hopes up. But I promise you can have different charts with different pregnancies, I see it all the time.!!! Questions?? Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
