View Full Version : swaying for a girl while breastfeeding

I am BF my 5 month old and am not currently ovulating. I previously became fertile at 7 or 8 months when my boys began to eat more solids. If AF comes back at a similar time i will go for a girl sway. I would like a small gap this time so I was wondering what I could do (apart from stopping BF) to help my fertility returning if it takes longer than last time. Also, is it possible to chart with temps if I am having disturbed nights? If i take my basal temp 1st thing in the morning I have often been up several times by then!

Welcome Bunneyfluff! I'm also planning a pink sway whilst bf my DS2 who is 6 months and I don't plan on stopping. I've started vitex in order to bring my cycle back. With regards to pinpointing O I'm planning on using OPKs and BDing after I get a positive one. Can't temp as DS2 is a super nurser and we co-sleep so wouldn't be accurate.
These essays by Atomic really helped me - http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/2200-swaying-while-breastfeeding.html

Most of your q's should be answered in those links.
You can chart with interrupted sleep, some people take temps before bed and just look for a pattern - it may not be as obvious as temping in the morning is.

Thank you for those informative quotes. I didn't know vitex is agnus castus, I have some in the cupboard :)sweet mummy it is nice to 'meet' another UK mummy who is going to sway pink while BF a similar aged child. Where is a good place to get cheap OPKs in the UK?

Well done you're halfway there
I bought some cheap ones on ebay but heard some other UK mummies found some on amazon. When are you planning on ttc? Come join us over on the ttc pink in March thread if you plan on swaying soon (I started off wanting to ttc in March but may actually have to have our first attempt in April/May as still waiting on vitex to bring back AF - so not strictly for those ttc in that month) http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl/22846-ttc-pink-march-2013-cycle-buddies.html

I can't access it either... But, I'm also from uk and bf-ing 5 month old. I was also hoping to ttc in March but want AF to regulate first. I've had one AF 6 weeks ago, very light but with just a 6 day luteal phase...
I got a positive OPK today but until my luteal phase is long enough I don't want to try. (I had a mmc when bf-ing my first so am a bit nervous).
I heard Bf-ing sways girl so I don't want to stop. Oh and it was spacing out feeds that I think got AF to come back.
Finally I get my OPKs from Amazon, 'one step'.

I have been advised (elsewhere) that dropping the 1-2 am feed (pumping earlier and providing in bottle if accepted - or dream feeding earlier before midnight to prevent the wake up) will help kick start cycle in many cases ... just a thought ..

There are a few ladies swaying pink while bf :)
My AF usually returns once baby starts solids and bfs a little less. Started taking vitex today so hoping that hurries it along. Want a small gap this time but worried how I will cope with it as well as 2 older ones when hubby is on nights

I'm in the same boat! Most of my friends think I'm crazy to want such a small gap but I believe a lot of stuff I'm doing now can sway girl so might as well give it a go (while I'm young myself too!)
Are your eldest and middle son in full time school yet? Might take the edge off at least during the day? At the moment my boys are a nightmare at bedtime but hoping when eldest starts full time nursery in September he'll be so tired he will sort his body clock out and get to bed earlier.

My two eldest are close and I want DS3 to be close to a younger sibling too. Also the sooner they are all at full time school the sooner I can get a job and provide a much needed second income! My eldest is in full time school and DS2 will be in September. They are quite good at bedtime, but I have to sit in the room till they are asleep. It's tricky when hubby is on nights and I have to keep a tired cranky baby quiet while they go to sleep.
My biggest concern is space. We currently live in a 3 bed with my mum. She has 1 room and we have the other double room with DS1 and DS2 sharing the 7ft square third room. They have a low bunk bed but sleep together on the bottom <3
The baby co sleeps. We are saving to buy a house but it will be a few years yet.

Awww I know how that goes hun!! We are outgrowing our flat and DH has suggested we move in with the out-laws so we can save for a deposit because one salary just doesn't allow us to save much sadly. I wouldn't mind it if my MIL was a bit more pleasant to be around sigh! Praying both our situations improve this year and we can our DDs too :fx:

How many rooms do you have? I think you can cope with less space than society thinks you need; as long as you are organised! I love IKEAs storage solutions, my living room also houses all the kids toys and the low level bunk bed is from there. They all pile in one bed together anyway, like puppies! Getting on the property ladder is so hard, but we are determined!

It's a two bedroom flat on the second floor so buggies etc have to stay in the car boot to save on storage space. So far DS2 is in his cot in our room but DS1 room not big enough for two cot beds so I guess they might be sharing a bed soon too lol We've held off on buying furniture as flat had sofas and we had our wardrobe, chest of drawers and bed from before but we have a ways to go before we buy our own.
How are you going on diet, etc so far?

My closest age gap was my favorite. :agree: Very difficult for a couple months here and there (that first month of course, and then there have been a couple phases where they were both tough simultaneously) but I preferred it to the 3.5 year age gap between my first two and my 2.5 year age gap between my last two. My two that are close, are very good friends and can play together.
Of course the 13 yr. age gap was pretty sweet too but I don't advise it!

I think every age gap has its good and bad points. I dont find young babies easy, all. of mine had colic, were (are!) poor sleepers. But that stage goes so fast even if it doesn't feel like it at the time. My friend has 3 girls and the oldest 2 are 14 months apart and very close.
Sweet mummy, am starting diet on Monday. Going to buy dream membership after pay day, have no money till then! Am using up all my naughty non swaying food this weekend. Started taking Vitex and folic acid already, hope AF returns soon! How about you?

I've been doing the same really! Started vitex last month and just started back after a two week break so hoping AF returns this cycle as I've never tracked my ovulation before so want at least some time to figure out what is what before ttc. Been on diet since 3rd Jan and lost about 8kgs so far but weight just drops off me when I reduce my food intake so I'm more concerned about losing muscle more than anything. Have had quite a few cheats with meat and had red meat about four times but other than that I've changed the way I eat drastically compared to when I conceived my boys so I'm hoping that counts for something at least!
Did your AF usually takes ages to return after having your boys?

I am vegetarian so no temptations to eat meat! But was with all 3 boys so that alone didnt sway pink for me. My AF came back 7/8 months after having them, once they started eating more solids, so hoping vitex hurries it along a little.

So lucky! After DS1 it took 14 months to come back and the I got pregnant with DS2 straight away so I don't even know what it's like to have a period for almost three years!
Snowing at ours but it isn't settling thankfully! Hope you and your boys have a lovely weekend!

I've only got two and their stuff is in EVERY room of the flat (apartment)!! Hand me downs are vacuum-packed and under any piece of furniture that has space and the toys...they're everywhere!! I'm thinking a trip to Ikea is in the cards this weekend!!
How you doing Bunneyfluff?

Sorry been offline a while, I missed the net!
AS, I don't feel so worried about the space issue now, having another baby won't change our plans much so it will all work out.
Sweet mummy, on the LE diet fully now, the vitex worked and AF arrived! I was shocked how fast it worked, and I think DS3 starting solids helped as he was bf less. I love it when they start solids, it's so much fun! Finding the LE diet ok but am missing salt. Don't mind the weight loss though ;)
I am going to TTC this cycle, so wish me luck! How are you getting on?

Hi Bunneyfluff! Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day!! Haven't gotten AF or +OPK as yet since stopping minipill on 1st March but not stressing as still doing pretty good on diet! Will give my body sometime to adjust to no contraception and hopefully something will start happening soon! If not may try the vitex if AS recommends it.
DS2 has been so poorly recently - was in urgent care yesterday morning as he couldn't breathe in the night and they finally gave me some antibiotics so hopefully he'll become interested in food again!
Good luck with your attempt this month!! Keep me posted!!
