I thought it would be a good idea to list any products people have found as it's so confusing to try and get some of the US things discussed on here. I have been buying. . .
Quark cream cheese - tesco
Low fat cottage cheese - tesco
Low fat natural yogurt - tesco ( but I'd love to hear if anyone has bought any tasty yogurts!)
ryvitas or ryvitas cracker bread - tesco
Virtually fat free fromage frais - tesco
I also bought a really nice lavender body lotion from holland and Barrett

I'd also love to hear from anyone who has eaten out and ht hey chose from the menu!!!!

I don't have anything to add yet (I'm starting the diet at the beginning of June!) but love the idea for the thread!

Oooh, actually I do have a suggestion - I'm not keen on having to get hold of Crystal Light (particularly as everyone says it's yuck!) so I wondered about having no added sugar blackcurrant or summer fruits squash, which has aspartame in it. Atomic said it was fine and it seems to have a low pH made up with normal tap water. Also I read somewhere on here that Tonic Water has a testosterone lowering ingredient and slimline tonic has aspartame in it too, so I'm going to see what that tastes like with cranberry juice (and I might even add the odd vodka to it on a Saturday night!).

I'm not starting my diet yet either, but have seen some nice looking frozen raspberries and things in Sainsburys

already started peppermint tea with a little Canderel sweetener that contains aspartame

which milk is everyone buying?

zanacal
May 22nd, 2011, 03:55 PM
I think I'm going to drink rice milk - I tried it in my tea this week and it didn't taste at all, made for quite a nice cuppa!!

I've been drinking skimmed milk from tesco, I haven't checked the potassium levels! I did buy rice milk but it was quite high in salt and I didn't want to use my salt intake on that! Rainbow, thanks for the canderel tip, I'm going o put thar in my yogurt - yum! It's so hard to spend time label looking in the supermarket with kids in tow! Zanacal, I'm going to look out for squash, let me know if you find a good one, crystal light is disgusting and I can't bring myself to drink it, p,us it's hard to hide a lurid pink mixture in my fridge!

rainbowflower
May 23rd, 2011, 03:17 AM
lol Swish - your comment about hiding it made me laugh :P
I think Splenda also contained aspartame, but I don't remember why I chose the one I did!

I remember someone saying that "Skinny cow" ice cream was good too?

May 23rd, 2011, 03:56 PM
oooh good plan, asda do good to yourself (i think thats thier brand) rice cakes which have no salt. also if anyone has a 'lets eat' branch near them its a sandwhich type dine in bakery which sells american food. They sell crystal light in there. i lived in America and couldnt stand it then, so wont be drinking it but may drink it on holiday in Florida this September since if i dont fall pregnant first attemp (which is a likelyhood) i need to try and stay focused with all the steak and chips around. i havent found low salt bread but my mum has a bread machine i am going to steal.

Great ideas! I'm definately going to check out skinny cow ice cream, I'm feeling very deprived of treats!

May 23rd, 2011, 05:28 PM
I tried a Yakult Light today - somebody suggested it as an alternative to taking acidophilis and the 'light' version has aspartame in it. I thought it would be awful but it was ok, really really sweet so good if you're missing sweet things.

I've been sampling different types of crackers with Dairylea Light cheese slices this evening lol!

I'm from the uk and I'm not doing a strict diet but when you are desperate I find the baby section really good as all the goodies organic is salt free. The crisps and flavoured rice cakes are good. Rude health rice crispies are salt free and franks diabetic ice cream is good (both in sainsburies or waitrose).

May 24th, 2011, 04:25 AM
that's a good point twosweetlads - I suppose we can use the Heinz baby chicken stock and so on, as they add barely any salt to that

twosweetlads
May 24th, 2011, 06:34 AM
I use Kallo very low salt also in waitrose they are even lower than heinz ones. I also eat the goodie bars (baby ones) they are no salt and sugar but do have oats it depends on how strict you want to be. Also weight watchers bread wraps are quite low salt. I don't eat them now but i used to eat shape fuller for longer yogurts stawberry and raspberry as they are full of aspartame and fat free.

If i remember any thing else I will let you know. I also used to use organic half fat creme fraiche a lot as a sauce from tesco.

I tried actimel fat free strawberry drink today, it was actually really nice! Or maybe that's just because anything different tastes good! And also jarksberg low fat version cheese which is low in salt.

zanacal
May 24th, 2011, 10:43 AM
I was going to suggest actimel fat free yogurts Swish, they taste quite nice don't they? They're fat free and have no geletin in them (suitable for vegetarians) but I was going to check what the 'good digestion' stuff is they have in them.

You're only human Swish, glad you enjoyed it!

I asked Atomic about both Muller Light yogurts and Activia Fat Free yogurts - both are fine on the low everything diet. I can recommend Muller Light in Raspberry and Cranberry and the Activia Fat Free in Raspberry. Yum, yum!

I will start the diet on Tuesday so will need to go shopping before then. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measure ...

swish
May 28th, 2011, 03:23 PM
I've been eating the muller lights, they are yum! Do you think we can have the toffee one?

zanacal
May 28th, 2011, 03:28 PM
I would think so, these are the ingredients:

Yogurt, Water, Fructose, Modified Maize Starch, Flavourings, Gelatine, Caramel Syrup, Sweeteners: Aspartame, Acesulfame K; Salt.

I'm not expert but I don't see anything wrong?

zanacal - good luck for starting the diet! let me know how you get on, I'm yet to start it
swish - you deserve a treat now and again... one pizza won't hurt! lol

what do you eat for meals in general when you're just desperately hungry?

swish
May 29th, 2011, 08:06 AM
I basically eat nothing before 12, homemade salt free toast and jam for lunch followed by natural yogurt and strawberries or a muller light! And pasta with mushrooms, leeks or peeled courgette with butter for dinner or rice with those vegetables (I don't like the rice dinner as I can't really think of a sauce for the vegetables and it's boring!) that's it really...and also actimel no fat drink and a slice of jarlsberg cheese, but no milk now as that's a fair bit of calcium!

zanacal
May 29th, 2011, 08:16 AM
Sounds very similar to what I'm planning Swish. I'm thinking something along the lines of:

Cup of coffee with sweetner and skimmed milk first thing
Nothing until 12 - or maybe a bit early as I'm getting up at 5.30 to exercise!
Lunch - White bread sandwich/bagel/corn tortilla (sugar free jam and unsalted butter or dairylea light and cucumber) followed by a Muller Light or Activia Fat Free yogurt and maybe a Snack-A-Jack. Washed down with caffeine free diet coke.
Dinner - Pasta or Rice with homemade tomato sauce (leeks, tinned tomatoes) or Quark with some vegetables (mushrooms, courgettes, green beans) and a bit of parmesan sometimes. Followed by fruit and Zero greek yogurt with sweetner.
Supper - Crackerbread/Matzo/Melba Toast with either jam or cheese spread (opposite to what I had at lunch time) or maybe mini pitta bread and low fat houmous. Maybe a peeled apple or a few green grapes. Yakult light.

For drinks I'll have my coffee first thing and diet coke at lunch time. The rest of the time I'll drink sugar free fruit squash with normal water. I'll have a vodka and diet coke or slimline tonic and cranberry when I want a proper drink!

I really don't think it sounds that bad - not having breakfast will be the hardest thing for me!

swish
May 29th, 2011, 08:25 AM
I thought no having breakfast would be the hardest thing but it's actually the easiest, after the first week which was awful! The worst thing is eating out/ with family or refusing snacks on play dates!!! Other than that it's much easier than I thought it would be

rainbowflower
May 29th, 2011, 09:44 AM
hope you don't mind me posting my daily ideas here (French diet):

Breakfast - peppermint tea, supps. Nutrigrain bar if desperate, or raspberry milkshake
Lunch (12pm) - soft cheese sandwich, or salad with a little chicken, home made tomato soup or broth with home made roll,
tea - vegetable curry with rice, vegetable/chicken fried rice, pie once a week (fish pie/cottage pie), pasta+tomato sauce, soup + roll, once a week orange/lemon chicken + rice, quiche + salad, cheesy pasta, poached fish + veg
evening - peppermint tea

snacks - cucumber/celery/carrot sticks, low-fat jelly, low-fat yogurt, fruit (apple/tinned fruit, grapes, pear, strawberries), strawberry/raspberry milk shake, skinny cow icecream, toast+marmalade, some unsalted nuts, home-made muffin

and when AF shows up each month I will allow myself one completely guilt free indulgence meal! (probably a roast with lovely salty potatoes, gravy and veg, and lots of chocolate lol)

swish
May 29th, 2011, 02:53 PM

Hi Girls,

Here's what i have been eating;

No breakfast sometimes/sometimes low salt organic cornflakes with rice milk as late as possible

Goodie bar at about eleven if no breakfast

Lunch- pitta with small amount of houmous, salad (no toms),

Dinner- pasta with pesto or tom sauce, veg curry or casserole with rice, salad and cous cous, sometimes fish or chicken but not much.

I'm drinking evian, peppermint tea or redbush.

I do have a snack of chocolate sometimes (I know this is bad I really need it in the evening!-Im trying to stop!)

I know this is not great but I cant have dairy so am taking lots of supps.

I have lots of cheats this month mainly with chocolate! as have not been well-I'm so annoyed and am still going to try this month as don't want to waste a month I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed!

swish
May 30th, 2011, 07:23 AM
I have cheated too!! I just keep reminding myself how drastically different my diet is even with a few cheats. How do you make your curry and casserole?

twosweetlads
May 30th, 2011, 12:17 PM
For my curry I just use veg-onions,peppers,mushrooms, corgettes, tinned toms, kallo very low salt stock, garam masala, curry powder. I sometimes put chicken in or sometimes chick peas. Im not eating dairy any more but when i was I used organic creme fraiche half fat in the curry it was good.

In the casserole is the same except I use more/different veg and not the spices.

I'm not being as strict as some because I was and I made myself ill so I'm just doing what i can which involves more veg and not dairy.

I hope this helps. Im having stir fry with veg and rice noodles and I have found this sweet chilli stir fry sauce from sainsburies that is in the veg section in a sachet that only has a trace of sodium! It's not strict but I don't have meat with it.

swish
May 30th, 2011, 04:21 PM

rainbowflower
May 31st, 2011, 02:54 AM
you could probably use curry paste too - I had a quick look and there doesn't seem to be anything too bad on the ingredients list (plus you don't usually use much of it). That mixed with a bit of yoghurt or cream might go down deliciously!

those stir fry sauces sound worth investigating too

what meat-free main meals do you lot eat (other than basic pasta + sauce)?

I have small sugarfree mints, Wrigley´s Extra forest fruit, the ingredients are sorbit, isomalt, citric acid, aroma´s, aspartam, acesulfam K (is this a vitamin?), sucralose (is this sugar?), do you all think we can eat these all day or would that make blood sugar rise? My understanding is that fake sugar makes blood sugar rise and then fall back lower than before, but is the rising a problem if I eat them a lot?

On the Low-Everything Diet, they are ok in moderation as long as you don't exceed your protein.

Yes, that's the reason why but it's pure carbs which is GOOD for TTC pink. Not as good if you're trying for some sort of healthful weight loss.

Peas, on the other hand, do have protein and so you need to be a bit cautious not to eat a ton of them. A bit is fine.

Acesulfamate K is NOT a vitamin, it's an artificial sweetener and fine for pink.

Sucralose is not sugar, it's Splenda and also fine for pink.

Fake sugar doesn't make blood sugar rise and it is fine to use it all day long (with the exception of stevia/truvia because that sways blue). REAL sugar makes blood sugar rise and then fall back, and you are right on that, don't eat sweets regularly all day long, stick with the 2-3 meals a day idea and include your sweets with your meals.

hello swish im ttc after af arrives. I had a miscarage which started May 20th and started taking sups and started the girl diet soon after as we knew we wanted to try again and this time sway (on my part) but ended up with a ERPC for it being incomplete on the 10th June.

Im totaly ok with the m/c now i was so sad to begin with as it was twins and they would have been due chistmas day. I really want to be pregnant by then. Dh isnt convinced by the swaying thing and wont take sups and wont go on the diet but as i do the shopping and i do the all the cooking im just cooking mainly girl friendly foods for him and keeping away from potato tomatoes and red meat as much as posible lol.

this is a normal day for me

AM 1 cup of decaff coffee calcium magnesuim and cranberry sups

lunch 2 ryvita (not sure if they are ok) Muller light yoghurt

dinner bowl of pasta or rice witha little parmasan cheese and veg (greenbeans, broccoli or cauliflower)

snacks ryvitas plain rice cakes and i like them dry (my god i must be mad!)

its boring me already and its only been 2 weeks but im hoping it wont be for much longer

swish
June 19th, 2011, 06:51 AM

Im going to start to make a shopping list out just for my stuff and hope the list will get a little more on it over time.

Hi and welcome! Here is the link to the index of the various threads http://genderdreaming.com/forum/showthread.php?3305-The-COMPLETE-Index!!! and then there is my "low everything" diet available in the Members section.

A lot of the limits depend on which diet you choose to do. Some do the Low Everything diet, some do the French diet (also in the members section), some do the In-Gender style diet, or you can even just go vegetarian/vegan if you want to.

Thanks rainbow - trace of sodium in ketchup IS good :D I've been eating reduced fat mozzarella too. I also find that parmean and feta aren't too bad and I have a Dairylea cheese slice in my sandwich most days! Half-fat creme fraiche is great for moistening pasta too and has barely any sodium depending on the brand.

Hello everyone i have been really busy with the school holidays and doing my diet but had quite a few cheats, but im back on track again and hoping to give mext month the best sway i can as i know im out this month as we didnt bd anywhere near the right time.

I have found a "new" to me food that i quite like with my pasta and i think its ok to have. I had never heard of it but i mix a bit in with my pasta or rice for a bit of extra sauce.

Hi girls I am relatively new to genderdreaming, going to start diet after Christmas but reading all your posts makes it seem a bit more possible than I had thought. Particularly liking the muller light and skinny cow ice cream suggestions! :-)

I just found this in an article about salt content in bread:

Low salt packaged breads - salt per 100g

M&S Simply More Eatwell Healthiest White Bread - 0.58g
Tesco Stayfresh White Sliced Bread Medium - 0.6g
M&S Eatwell Oaty Bloomer Made With 30% Oats - 0.65g
M&S Toasting White - 0.73g
Sainsbury's Medium Wholemeal - 0.74g

The previous best low-salt bread we'd found was Weight Watchers White Danish - but that has around 1g salt per 100g

actually just checked the details of the Tesco Stayfresh one - per slice it contains about the same amount of sodium (0.1g for the Stayfresh, 0.09g for the WW) but the slices of the Tesco one are more substantial and it contains more calories as a result (which, to me, is good!)

Ive tried to stay on the diet as much as possible over the last 6 weeks with the kids off school it has been a little tricky. I have stuck to no breakfast and yoghurt for lunch with ryvitas or crackerbread and eating snack a jacks or toddler crisps if i feel naughty lol and rice/pasta veg for tea with another yoghurt but im struggling with the evenings im not hungry but just picking at things i sould not be eating like doritos (when the kids open a pack and dont finish) i am going to be much better no the kids are due back to school next week

Thanks twinkle. Yes, quark is good (on any diet!). You can get it in Tesco too. Half-fat creme fraiche is good for pasta too.

I'm still enjoying 30g philadelphia light mixed with 10ml baby stock ****s (which are very low sodium) to create a sauce per seving with my pasta! I'm having that with roasted veg and sage.

Half a sachet of Blue Dragon "Peking Lemon stir fry sauce" contains:
80 calories
trace protein
0.4g fat
0.08g sodium

there's quite a lot of others in the range which have 0.25g sodium or less in half a sachet too! so would make a nice treat now and again!

They're the fresh filled tortellini and whathaveyou - quite a few of the flavours are reasonable on sodium.

-2 cups instant coffee with 1% unsweetened soy milk
-1 0% Shapes yogurt
-1 piece weight watchers danish bread [toasted] with unsalted butter
-150grams plain couscous with Quark 0% fat cheese, skinless cucumber, black pepper & rosemary.
-bueno bar x 2

Those are my rough calculations (I mean, rough)... so, give or take...

I won't be counting everything every day, though. It would make me go crazy! But I did it on my first diet day out of curiousity. :) Maybe I tried a little too hard today! But with the ratios we have/should stick to, it'd be hard to get everything in balance... as I realize the calories are low.

Hey Surgena - what is the Quark cheese like?

zanacal
December 16th, 2011, 01:12 PM
Quark doesn't taste of much at all! I've used it when dieting as an alternative to spread when I have beans on toast and have used it as a low fat topping for lasagne or as a filling to chicken breasts mixed with herbs and spices. I don't find it mixes very well with pasta and I wouldn't choose to eat it!

suregena
December 16th, 2011, 03:23 PM
It has no taste, really... mildly sour... but I actually thought it worked well with pasta, if not just mixing it on its own. It's nice when blended with other stuff, though. Gives it that creamy sauce vibe (say, mixed in with chopped tomatoes) without the fat...

Usually it's the parmesan. Parmesan is protected by EU laws so has to be made according to original recipe, which uses animal rennet.

I usually do not buy anything that doesn't have "suitable for vegetarians" or a green V or some such to indicate it is.

Irishmom, I am using Lurpak Lighter Unsalted. As for cheese it depends what diet you are following. If you are following the LE diet, you should be okay with cheddar as long as it fits into your daily limits of calories, protein, fat and sodium. I sometimes use Asda Grated Mozzarella and Cheddar for certain meals.

Yes, white rice, pasta and bread are okay. However, keep an eye on their contents. Bread can be quite high in sodium. Pasta I have switched to Gluten Free as it has less protein and I can effectively eat more of it in a portion.

Have you thought about joining Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com (http://www.myfitnesspal.com) This is such a great tool to keep an eye on your daily intake and you can customise it to suit your own daily limits - plus it is free. ;)

Hi All,

I'm from London and was so happy to see a UK support net! I've only just joined and am sooo confused by all the different strategies ou there and secretly was under the impression that you could stay away from O date and thus improve your chances of a girl... I guess that is wrong?

I would love to join on the LE diet but have two questions:
1) How long before I want to TTC should I start?
2) I'm a bit light and in the past experienced that my Menstruation (sorry TMI) stopped completely if I 'starved' myself ie restricted my calories which wouldn't help my case ...
Can anyone be so kind to advise what I can best do to improve my chances on both the diet, supplements and timing front?
I would be very grateful!

Hi there,

I'm a Brit in Spain and am finding it hard sourcing stuff so am reading this thread and drawing parallels here / running to the GB store! Thanks for starting it.

I notice a few of you are eating toms in sauces / soups but seem to remember reading that toms were a no no for girl sways. Have any of you seen that or is it from a different diet? I ask because it would be a great low -cal -fat thing for me to add to the diet (which I am finding hard and am basically not eating enough at all). Thanks!

I think the old el paso brand is just too high in everything as a result of being too similar to flour tortillas... the percentage of corn in it versus wheat is small.

Authentic corn tortillas are made with:masa harina and water!

Old El Paso "corn tortillas" - Corn Flour (29%) , Wheat Flour, Water, Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Stabiliser: Glycerol, Wheat Gluten, Salt, Dextrose, Raising Agents: 450a, E500, Emulsifiers: E471, E466 , Preservative: E202, Acidulant: Citric Acid, Flour Treatment Agent: E920.

HOWEVER, I still think they can fit into the sway just fine... I'm just a mexican food snob! :P

Then my evening meal is a big dinner like sag bol, chilli con carne, jacket spud with tuna and salad, fajitas, meat and chips, salmon and vegetables, pasta etc then I snack before bed - bowl of cereal, toast or more crisps, pretzels, nuts that sort of thing.. so I dont eat alot but its probably all the worng stuff - Im wondering what the hell I can do - Im thinking maybe Ill carry on skipping breakfast then fond something low sodium etc for lunch and get some of those diet yoghurts to snack on maybe with some strawberrys and sweetener and then make my main evening meal a small pasta dish .... Im going to become a dream member in a minuite see if i can get some ideas...

Hi mum23boys, I'm like you-a nightmare with eating but unlike you I do have the weight to lose on the diet. The dream member section is great for meal ideas :) I've cut out meat and snacks and trying to eat a low calorie, low sodium diet. Even you consume the same calories maybe just changing the food you are getting them from will help sway. The muller light yogurts are quite nice :)

DEFINITELY drop the cereal! It's got added vitamins/minerals.

Drop the snacking!

Stop eating meat - go vegetarian.

Just stick to two meals. No snacking. Lose even a smidge of weight (not a lot since you're already small!) and then maybe take vitex/try vitex...

I'm not the expert at ALL (Atomic is! The dream member is great... I joined it late on into my planning but glad I did... helpful stuff in there) but I can still see things you can do despite you already eating low calories and not eating breakfast.

Any plans for your husband/partner? Maybe licorice root and frequent release or abstinance?

Im thinking fr but both would be an option and was thinking 1 attempt either with a 3 day cut off or at +opk - i know timing doesnt matter but as all 3 boys were conceived at +opk it does make me stress about it more and obviously i dont want to be stressing and worrying ... if i got pregnant at +opk id always wonder what if id tried a 3 days cut off .... does that make sense ?
with fr does this all need to be discarded or can it be used as such to build up a back log !! ha ha Also which is best does anyone have any advice on fr vs abstain ? My hubby is 31 and naturally fit and healthy - he has a very physical day job outside and plays sport 4 times a week professionally

FR it is best to have him release for at least 7 to 10 days PRIOR to attempts... so ideally dumped/not used. You don't want to actually make attempts until his count is already lowered.

Hi - what a great thread. I'm new to this forum. I've been doing IG for 3 weeks and really struggling with constipation, have stumbled across this site and the diet looks so much better for me. I've dropped about half a stone on the IG already, so I'm hoping I'm not starting 'from scratch'. Not had potatoes/tomatoes/bananas for that time and survived mainly on rice/pasta/milk/yoghurt/green beans/leeks/chicken and poached fish. I'm hoping I can easily move to LE diet.

I'm 36 next year, so we're going to try this cycle anyway. I know that's only 5 - 6 weeks of IG / LE, but I don't want to wait another cycle. It can be up to 40 days in length too.

I'm supplementing with cranberry, calcium and magnesium.

I have some UK specific questions if anyone is able to answer - would be great.

Is Fybogel OK? (Metamucil is so much more expensive)
Do any of the sweeteners contain more aspartame? I've got canderel in the cupboard and going to steal the canderel in peppermint tea idea.

So glad I found this forum - so many ideas on this thread, thank you thank you thank you.

GL to everyone!

Hi I'm new and in the UK :) have been on LE diet for around 2 weeks and hope to start ttc in December. I'm taking cranberry supplements and vitex. Plan to take zirtec and use rephresh before dtd. I've just ordered some vaginal ph sticks on amazon that look really good, I tried the litmus paper but it didn't seem to work with cm. These are sticks I think u insert inside u and they tell u the ph. I haven't received them yet so not sure if they are any good. And i use the clear blue digital opk, the one with the smiley face. I used them when we were ttc my ds (wasn't swaying either way then) and they were pretty good. Re sweetener I am using the silver spoon sweet and low one. It says aspartame based sweetener but I don't know if one is better than the other.

I use Candarel in peppermint tea! Two cups a day - am/pm. And then I drink 7UP Free which has Aspartame in. It's also got Pectin which is used to regulate diabetes, so it does something to the bloodsugar, but I don't know the amount and I'm sure its negligible anyway.

I'm using metforming and will be taking clomid once we start TTCing so I'm trying to negotiate my sway attempt around those things. Don't want to ruin my chances of having a baby full stop! Its a bit of a minefield out there when you've got PCOS =/

They sell coconut water at tesco for 86p a can! Low protein, sugar and calories - excellent for upping potassium levels if low. I found them in the free from/foreign (?) section with the rubicon and other types of drinks.

Hi, i was meant to be on the diet and ttc in December but life got hectic! So I'm back to planning my diet and hopefully ttc end Jan. It's quiet on here, anyone around on a regular basis? I use my phone and can't seem to find regularly used threads. I'm in Scotland and this will be my 2nd shot at swaying, hopefully for my 4th child. All boys so far! X

December 12th, 2012, 10:19 PM
I have to admit, I just use regular cheese. I don't really eat that much cheese that I thought about it - I tried comparing Low Low and cathedral city regular, and to be honest, there isn't that much of a difference.

Lowlow has less fat (4 g per 20 g cheese) compared to cathedral (7 g per 20 g) and less Kcal (60 vs 83) and less calcium (15% vs 19%) but it's the same in protein and Low low has 60 mg more sodium than cathedral city per 20 g cheese.

Hi Ladies,
Im a lurker (over the last month or so mostly) and working on planning my sway over the next few weeks in the hope of ttc fab/march time next year.

I have two boys already and this will be our third and final.

I have to say I am getting a little worried as I am already vegetarian, eat mostly rice and pasta anyway and slim (not skinny) - so really banking on losing a bit of weight and suppliments/vitex etc to work!!

Are many of you signed up as a Dream Member? Sounds bad but is it really useful? Hubby is happy to do (most) of the diet with me, but I am a little stuck for meals?

Anyway, lovely to travel this journey with you and good luck with your sways!

Its been very useful for me as there are lots of food ideas, besides it's only about 7 pounds a year.

If you're a vegetarian and eat a lot of protein/nutritious food than that might be why you got your boys! Plus the way you sexed when u got pregnant could have influenced as well :P

yes I definitely think the diet helps - there are so many studies done that show a link between diet and sex ratio!

thank you for the info!
I had a hormone test done when at uni. At the time I was single so when they told me I might have mild PCOS (whatever the results were, they were "borderline" normal) but I didn't look into it more at the time. I've had my ovaries scanned when I've been pregnant before (and one following a MC) but they've never found any cysts... so not sure if that means I don't have it or if they clear up when pregnant. I do have some other symptoms of imbalance, though (irregular periods but don't seem to miss any just varying lengths of cycles, short luteal phase, some excess hair, and had some acne issues when younger) but I don't have any issues with weight gain but, again, perhaps that's because my family are all slim and I'm genetically slim. So really I'm not sure if I have it or not!

I am consuming 1200 calories a day. I'm using a microwave meal and a pack of supernoodles and for desert a couple of pieces of cheese or full fat plain yoghurt with Canderel.

Is this a good diet or should I try anything else?

Never tried super noodles, which flavour is best and what microwave meal did you get, I find them so hard to find, that always seem to have too much sodium.
Found a cheese and tomato pizza in tesco, within our limits, it is very satisfying!!!!

I love bacon super noodles and the mild chilli ones! You can also find bacon noodles in Aldi for 18p, they are yummy and less salt.

I get the low calorie microwave meals from Asda, way more choice than Tesco. Also I don't mind they Weight Watchers ones, but they're not always very satisfying!

I think Atomic said sodium doesn't sway.

I'm not sure if I should do a mix between Ingender and here. But I don't like most of the recipes

But I really want a :XX: so might eat my micro meals & noodles plus a bit of yoghurt and milk, making sure I keep within the limits of protein and calories.

But does this sound like a swaying diet or a recipe for disaster? :hide:

Here's what I find is a great lunch or dinner which has kept me sane on the diet so far.
Warburton square wrap or any bread you like really, low sodium if you are doing that.buy Tesco low fat mozzarella or any brand, cop that up on the slice of bread or wrap with sliced mushrooms our baby plum/cherry tomatoes and some capers for an extra but of taste.I also like things spicy and so I use a chilli flake grinder over the top for a kick and then melt cheese under a grill.quick, easy, low fat and no meat.plus you can experiment with all diff toppings but the mozzarella really helps me feel like i'm not dieting.I use fit pal to track my calories etc.I also like Tesco light choices tomato soup.tastes just like Heinz cream of tomato soup and the values are all prettylow. he's actually slept well since we sleep trained at 1 year, and has done 9pm-8am lately (unless poorly or teething). His main sleep issue is that he won't sleep until 9pm regardless of when we put him down. Most of pregnancy he was waking at 5am and that was exhausting... but he improved again just in time

it's when you teach them to settle without props (be it dummy, boobs, milk, rocking, music, etc)
it's not always easy, though, as they protest and get upset when they don't get the thing that they like to settle with! but if you are consistent they generally get the hang of it within a week (a very exhausting and sleepless week, often with lots of crying/screaming lol)

I am not in the UK but came across a Jamie Oliver sauce here which looks great!

Jamie Oliver Chilli and garlic pesto (not sure why he called it that as it has no Parmesan or pine nuts but anyway...)
100g has 246 cals, protein 1.5g, fat 23.5 sodium 0.35

The good bit is that you need so little that it works out pretty good. I used just under a teaspoon (less tha 5g) mixed with my usual low Phili no salt stock (about 2 table spoons total liquid) and it was the tastiest thing I have had in a long time:)

I tried them last year. You need to have some sauce with them as they really have quite an odd taste to them and the texture is a bit rubbery. Oddly they don't really go mushy when you chew them, just smaller rubbery bits.

Welcome Pinkypie! I've never done SW but a friend of mine was a consultant and just gave me her 50 free green recipes book. If you follow the green plan it may fit in okay but (understandably!) SW is very healthy with lots of pulses, nuts etc whereas we focus on declining maternal condition on the le diet. Have you read any of the essays by Atomic Sagebrush? Sorry I can't post any links as I'm on my phone. Perhaps you could consider becoming a dream member and possibly getting a personal plan drawn up too. :)

Hi I follow the extra easy plan on SW and eat plenty of fruit and veg. I've started from today to cut out the red meats. I've been using sweetener for a while now. One thing I was wondering is can I have decaff coffee?
I have had a few cups of peppermint tea and it's bearable I guess lol.
I've never swayed before and my other children weren't planned at all. I was one of the lucky ones that my hubby would only have to look at me and I'd be pregnant. I'm hoping that I won't fall pregnant straight away because I want to look at my cycle first. I have been on the implant for almost 6yrs now so I have no idea if my cycle will go back to normal straight away

Oh and I meant to say that no I haven't read any essays.

I don't really use pulses and nuts on SW. I basically am doing a LE diet on SW tbh. I just need to cut out the tomatoes, Caffiene, and red meats. I mostly eat a lot of chicken.

Does anyone know if the Maggi So Juicy herbs are okay to use?

Hi pinky pie, I'm in south bucks not too far from you!

Have a good look at the le diet info, i think atomic says caffeine isn't really a problem but it is best to cut chicken out or as little as possible because it is just so high in protein. I have a little bit once a week now, the rest of the time completely veggie which must be a shock to my carnivore like system! I think herbs should be fine, I try to add herbs, spices and chilli flakes to my boring le pastas and rices!

I'd limit it to once a week if you can, but if not try and have a really small portion size (100g or less)

doing a slightly modified SW diet would be better than no diet at all, but I think it would still be a bit too nutrient rich for a really good sway

when swaying last time I'd tell myself "I really want a Chinese... but I want a girl more" and it was quite easy to go without things that way

only you know what you're willing to compromise on, and it's important you feel comfortable with everything you're doing to sway or you'll end up with regrets or struggle to stick with it

Eeek, 100g is not a lot is it. I ate chicken when I got pregnant with dd in 2005 and I hardly ever ate veg or fruit back then :-\

it's perfectly valid to do again what you did back then! a diet low in nutrients (variety of veg/fruit) is probably enough to convince the body that times are hard too, but we have evidence that vegetarians have more daughters statistically, as do those who skip breakfast

Because I didn't TTC my DD I can't remember exactly what I did or didn't eat and drink. Wish I did but I know I ate chicken. I remember now I did eat a lot of fruit actually because I was on a health kick but wasn't dieting.

I didn't use to eat breakfast.

I guess if a girl is to be...it's to be.

I'm going to try and cut out the coffee as much as possible and eat small amounts of chicken. I might get Quorn chicken. Is that okay to eat? Stopping the breakfasts again too.
