So just read through the entire ttc pink library and saw that Vit D can raise test levels, googled it which confirmed it. CRAP. I had b/w done a few months ago that showed I have a Vit D deficiency so my OB put me on Vit D supps (not crazy high, 1000 mg a day). Do I stop taking them? They are part of a calcium sup that I take.

I was on vitamin d as well for a deficiency. When I spoke with AS about it her motto is if its for a deficiency and you need it for your well being, then you need to take it regardless of what it sways. I stopped mine a couple months ago bc about a year ago my levels were back to normal.

Thanks so much for responding Trishy!! The thing is I want to ttc in 2-3 months and this is my last shot for a girl (I am 36 and we agreed only 1 more kid) so I want to do everything I can. :/ My ob told me to take Vit D supps but it wasn't like life or death or anything. My calcium supps are combined with my vit d supps so I guess I need to get different calcium supps. I am starting to feel panicky with everything :/

What I would do is take them daily for a month (which you have done already by the sound of it), then switch to one a week maintenance level (do this now since you've already been on them a while). It may even help your sway by making it seem like your nutrient levels have dropped.

Unlike most nutrients, Vit. D is well stored by your body so it's safe to just drop down like that - no need to wean on Vit. D

It has become harder than blazes to find calcium without vit. D in it over the last couple years. I think you guys should use tums because they're just calcium without D in it, instead of calcium supps with D (if you MUST take calcium, which I don't recommend really but your call to make)

Atomic, can I just stop Vit D cold turkey right now and be ok? Also, why don't you recommend calcium?

Higher nutrients seems to sway blue. The calcium sways pink argument came from the french gender diet saying you should eat a lot of dairy to get pink. But plenty of people are lactose intolerant and still have girls, many whole countries eat very little dairy and still have a normal number of girls. We have only eaten dairy in the last few thousand years (that's why paleo is anti dairy) yet we had girls before eating dairy. Most evidence says lower nutrients sways pink so that's why a lot of ttc pink moms on here don't want to load up on calcium.

Thanks Carmella!! What about magnesium then? Same deal?

I don't think the data supports calcium and swaying, 3 part essay here

Re Vit. D, while it;s never a good thing to quit nutrients cold turkey, the body is more forgiving of dropping Vit. D since it's stored in the fat - I always recommend weaning off but if you gotta drop one, Vit. D is the safest one to just drop.

The only reason magnesium was ever even taken for a pink sway was to help the body use calcium better. So mag is pointless without calcium. (again I don't think either of these truly sways pink)
