I went in today for a checkup and told the doctor about the possible mucus plug loss and more braxton hicks. She checked me and said I was about 1 cm dilated, but that since it's my second, that could just be how my cervix is in general and may not mean a thing. She decided to do a preterm labor test. The results should be back this afternoon. If negative, everything is good to go, but if positive they will likely want to give me steroid injections and put me on bed rest. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole steroid thing. I know it would help baby's lungs if I did have him early, but the positive preterm labor test doesn't necessarily mean I'll have him in the next week and then the steroids would be for nothing and can have negative side-effects. Have any of you ladies dealt with this situation before? I'm thinking of asking to hold off on steroids unless I show actual signs of preterm labor. They can then give me meds to stop labor for a few days to give the steroids time to work when injected then. I just don't know how I like the idea of giving steroids "just in case" when I have no other preterm labor signs at this point. Thoughts?

Oh dreaming, how utterly terrifying! I'm so sorry you experienced that but glad you both came through okay. Congrats on your new baby boy and wonderful attitude! I hope the GD stays away for good, you heal swiftly and that we get to see a photo of your little one soon :)

Hey crazycat, what were ur results of ur preterm labor test? Hopefully all is ok and u don't have to worry about steroids.
Dreamingofwin, glad u are well now, so sorry that ur experience was a bit traumatic, but very happy that you and bub are now doing well xo
Daisy how are you feeling? Has bub arrived or do u have any symptoms? One week to go now! Xo

January 7th, 2015, 10:24 AM
Crazy cat - sorry I have no advice or info on the steroid issue. How did the tests go? I'm 33 weeks now too and feel huge. I don't think she will come early personally!
Congrats to the ladies who have had their bundles! So exciting! 😄

Still waiting on the results :-( I called yesterday afternoon and they said it would be this morning. If I don't hear from them in the next couple hours, I'm going to call again. I hardly slept last night worrying about it all. I really hope it comes back negative. I've got at least 4 more weeks before we want him to make his appearance and that's a long time to be on bed rest! Not to mention, I left so much baby stuff to do until after the holidays and not sure how I'll get everything prepared if I have to be on bed rest...ugh. I'll keep you ladies posted!

Hope it's all ok. I'm with you in that I wld be a bit unsure about steroids too. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress as that won't be good for you or bub. Take care xo

January 7th, 2015, 11:34 AM
Just got the call and the test came back negative, so there's a 99% chance of no labor in the next 2 weeks, so it's business as usual for me :-) Yay!!

I need to vent.
We have purchased a new house 2 years ago that was supposed to be ready by Feb 2015. We have been living in a tiny town home close to the new house to get the boys in new school for those two years. Just found out now that we are delayed and I will not be moving into my home until march (after baby is born). I'm devistated.
Honestly'- I'm beyond stressed about this bc it's virtually impossible to pack and move with a newborn. People are going to want to come visit her. And they can't bc my current house is too small. I cannot get my new vehicle to accommodate all the kids until after we close bc it could affect the deal closing (as per broker). I know this all sounds so petty and I am clearly greatful we even have a roof over our heads. But the notion that I do not get to nest and make a nursery for her before she's born is very upset ing for me. (We only have 3 bedrooms at current home).I've been waiting for this for a long time. The worst part is that hubby--being a total guy-- doesn't seem to care about any of this. So frustrating. I litterly cannot sleep. He sleeps like a baby!
I mean I don't even have an exact date as to when we move so it could be any time in march at this point. The day after I give birth for all I know. Can you imagine doing mortgage paper work the day after you have a baby? It's like my priorities just aren't going to be on the house at all
I feel out of control of the situation and I hate this. I'm worried the stress might effect the baby.

January 9th, 2015, 07:10 PM
Hey Robin
I'm hearing you. We are currently renting a 2 bedroom place and are moving one month after baby is born. I have been trying to enjoy the last week/days of pregnancy but have been busy organising removalists, bills, school, etc. We are moving somewhere that's bigger and nicer so that is what I keep trying to focus on. I know ultimately we will move and settle and be happier for it and this bump in the road is an unwanted but necessary inconvenience.
The stress will not be good for you or bub, so try to relax (easier said than done). I was like you when I first found out we had to move and I've just had to accept it is what it is and it will happen this way regardless of how I feel about it. So I've sort of changed from being stressed to excited. I can't nest either and we have a crappy corner in our dining room set up for bub 😳 but I know he won't mind hahah and to make things a bit better I have bought a new rug for his new room and also a new feeding chair. So there is a nursery 'plan', it will just be after he arrives rather than before. We are still renting when we move so it still sucks that we aren't going somewhere permanent, but I guess I just have to roll with it. Don't worry about visitors, they will completely understand that u are moving and they will always come to the new place once u move so u can show them how fab ur new place is. Try to focus on the good things (I know it seems there aren't as many compared to the bad things) but at least the move will be permanent and ur boys don't have to change schools.
U are 100% right that the situation is out of ur control, but try focus on the great things that are around u and ur beautiful girl who is coming soon, it's far more important and will be better for u and bub. Huge hugs, I know it's a trying time, but u will get through it and be in ur beautiful new home soon xox

Hi girls haven't been on in a while and missed a bit
Huge congrats dreamingofwin I'm thrilled for you Enjoy your little man!
Crazycatcouple glad all is well and you won't be delivering your little man too early The same thing happened to my friend at 32 weeks and she had to get steroid injections to stop the baby coming early and thank god the baby is still perfect She's two weeks behind me
I have 5 days to go before d day and I'm not getting any inkling that she'll come early I hope I don't go too far over All the walking eating curries and drinking raspberry leaf tea aren't making her budge! And I've put on about 3 lbs in the last two weeks!!!!!

Robin and Oncue sorry you have that extra stress at this time but as Oncue said focus on the positives Your little one won't care where they are sleeping as long as they are loved and fed and well looked after You'll be in your new house before you know it and it'll be fab
We have a three bed house and this will be our fourth baby My three boys share one bedroom and refuse to move into another room away from each other! So when this little one arrives I'm going to put her in to my room for the first year and then she can share one of the bedrooms with the youngest boy for a few years while they're still young Yes it'll be a tight squeeze but they all seem to love being together so I'm happy with that I won't have a pink nursery but that doesn't bother me in the slightest We'll build on an extra room when they become teenagers but until then we'll all squeeze together!! Wherever you are when your baby is born you won't even care You'll be too besotted with your newborn to even care about your house Relax and look after yourself and try to stop stressing!!

You guys are the best honestly. Thank you for your replies. It means a lot. Being all pregnant and emotional doesn't help at times lol.
I'm just going to pack as much as I can now and live in the bare essential state until we move in late Feb or March.
Off topic but has anyone used the mamaroo swing type thing? If so how do you find it. I'm looking to get one for her.

Lala, did you end up naming him Hendrix? He's so adorable! Oh, and I would highly suggest infant probiotics as soon as you're able to pump and do small bottles occasionally. They have to be mixed with milk, but they did absolute wonders for my daughter when she was having tummy issues early on. Hope you get some rest soon!!
Robin, when are you due? I'm Feb 25, but I'm hoping he'll make a slightly early arrival.

Fantastic news Oncue! Congratulations on your perfect little family :-) Can't wait to see pics and hear what name you decide on once you have time. Breastfeeding is never as easy as you think it's going to be, but I'm sure you'll pull through. Get a lactation consultant if you need, and let me know if you have any milk supply issues, as I am a huge proponent of using Domperidone and can give you my experience with it. They were my magic pills, lol. Enjoy your little man!!

Sweetdream- yes "screw" is the right word- haha.
Crazycat- what is that? Breastfeeding is SO never as easy as you think it will be and I thought for sure the second time around would be much easier and it hasn't really been so. I'm still very sore which means little guy isn't latching correctly and the difference in how much I produce varies greatly from my left to right breast. I plan on trying natural induction things at around 36 weeks. Of course I know that they don't work unless baby is ready.. but just wondering if anyone had tried anything that worked successfully?
I'm deff going to try raspberry leaf tea and dates (thanks crazy cat) etc.
Specifically though has anyone tried evening prim rose oil? I've read that inserting it vaginally can speed things along as well as taking orally. anyone tried?
lala22
January 15th, 2015, 10:48 PM
Robin I didn't do evening primrose as I heard it can cause diarrhea but have heard inserting vaginally can help soften the cervix. Sex worked for me the first time (though obviously baby was ready too). This time around NOTHING worked. Girls are way easier to get out early than boys though so I bet if you try some things here and there she'll come:-)

Lala, I used this brand of probiotics (http://www.amazon.com/Udos-Choice-Infants-Probiotic-2-64-Ounces/dp/B0010EG6QC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1421448191&sr=8-2&keywords=infant+probiotics) however I found them locally at Whole Foods so that I knew they were kept refrigerated. The Amazon seller does not ship them with a cool pack, so you run the risk of killing the good bacteria in them due to temperature fluctuations. There are a bunch of different brands, but those worked well for us :-)
And the Domperidone is a drug for gastro intestinal issues, but a side effect is that it helps to increase milk supply. The only catch is that it's not FDA approved. I was told about it from an incredible lactation consultant who said it's not FDA approved for bureaucratic reasons only, which stinks, but pretty much every other developed nation uses it for increasing breast milk production safely. Compared to the FDA approved option we have in the states, domperidone is way safer and has less side effects, plus seems to work better for more women. You can google it to get more information and find plenty of people talking about it on forums and such. I personally used it from when Lyra was about 6 months old because I was having a hard time pumping enough milk during the work day and it was stressing us out. If I had known about it earlier, it would have saved me so much worry! Once I was taking them, I could pump just once or maybe twice a day to have enough for the next, plus some to store for date nights. It was such a huge relief! I stopped pumping all together when she was about 10 months old because I had enough stored up to get her through her first bday without having to pump, and then I just continued nursing her until she self-weened at 18 months.
Unfortunately because they are not FDA approved, you have to order them through either Canada for Thailand. This is the site I used: InhousePharmacy.vu (http://www.inhousepharmacy.vu/search.aspx?searchterm=domperidone) I ordered the Motilium brand of them, but have heard the other generic brands work well too. You take up to 8 pills per day, finding what works best for you, so it's cheaper if you order in bulk. I found 6 pills per day to be the perfect amount for me while pumping and only 2 or 3 later on when I stopped pumping and was just nursing. Another option, which I'm planning on trying out this time is this place in Thailand: ClickRemedy.Com (http://www.clickremedy.com/modules.php?name=Shopping&catid=17) where you can get 500 of the generic brand for $40. My friend ordered through this site and the pills have worked well for her, and they are way cheaper. I plan to order 500 of those to have on hand from the very beginning, just in case :-)

Sorry, but one more on the Dom :-) I was always a bit cautious due to it not being FDA approved, but this post is interesting for sure and gives some insight to it.
On the FDA and Domperidone . Induced Lactation . Canadian Breastfeeding Foundation . Fondation canadienne de l’allaitement (http://www.canadianbreastfeedingfoundation.org/induced/domperidone_fda.shtml)
And as to helping induce labor naturally... I plan to try everything possible once I hit that 37 week mark :-) I've just starting drinking red raspberry tea, as well as taking it in pill form. I bought dates and am eating 6 per day like the article suggested. I plan to eat pineapple daily once I hit 36 weeks, have lots of sex, lol, and possibly use the EPO internally to help ripen the cervix. Those are all the things I've come up with so far, but please share if you know of others! Oh, and walking/jogging/stair climbing is good too :-)

Thanks crazycat! That was awesome info. I do't think I need anything to increase my milk supply yet though I'm sure I've convinced myself a few times I do. There's something about that need to make sure you have tons for your little one. We went to our 2 week appt on Friday though and he had gained back all of his weigh plus some and is plenty chunky so for now I guess I'm ok. It is a relief to know that if I wasn't making enough though there is a viable option out there.
crazycatcouple
January 19th, 2015, 05:21 PM
That's awesome he gained back his weight already :-) You are doing good!
For me, it wasn't until I went back to work and had to pump that I noticed any issues. I think the longer you can exclusively nurse from the actual breast, the better, but with so many working moms these days and the (pardon me, but shitty) maternity policies in the US, a lot of moms don't have a choice but to pump, and that can be stressful, which effects output, and pumps just simply don't do as well at clearing out the breast as babies do!
Good luck with it all and I hope you guys continue to have a fabulous nursing relationship! As much as I remember it being difficult in the beginning, I am actually really looking forward to nursing again :-)
lala22
January 19th, 2015, 11:13 PM
I'm definitely still in the love/hate relationship- still suffering from sore nipples. It took me so much longer the first time to get the hang of it though and we're already doing much better then before so fingers crossed I'll be pain free soon. Breastfeeding is beautiful and always so much harder then you think. And crazycat, maternity leave policies are soooo shitty here.

Hello ladies! I have been lurking mostly so that I can keep up with all the birth announcements (Congrats Oncue!) but I am in my last couple of weeks at work (where I mostly check in from), and have been busy wrapping things up here. I also finally got some work done getting her room ready. I have felt so far behind with all of that. I still have about five weeks to go though, and when my maternity leave starts on February 3rd, I will be doing the hospital bag packing and last touches at home hopefully.
I am very interested in the medication info that was just posted for increasing milk supply...thanks Crazycat! I had no problems with DS1 as far as supply but I felt like I did with DS2 (and I had to return to work sooner with him too), so I could have used a little help with that. The supplements didn't really work. Is the shipping super expensive with ordering overseas?
Seeing all these babies really makes this whole thing real! I have several friends who have just had or are about to have babies too. I am super excited!

Hi ladies So sorry have been MIA but have been busy having my BABY!!!!!! So many times I tried to log on to tell you all but with four kiddos it's super busy! She arrived last Sunday and we have named her Beth (I changed my mind to Beth when I saw her I think she looks like a Beth!) we are over the moon and my three boys adore her She was 3.5kg I will try and load a pic of her I'm useless at technology things though (must be old age ha!!)
Best of luck to all you ladies waiting patiently Can't wait to hear your news
Robin I wouldn't focus too much on weight guesses I was told my baby would be 8 1/2 lbs and she was a pound lighter even at three days overdue But even if your baby is over 8lbs you'll manage just fine x

Hi ladies!!
Since you all are such experienced mamas I wanted to ask some advice! My little guy gets extra fussy at night- spends most of the night "sleeping" but grunting out in pain and sometimes crying out- it definitely seems like a mixture of gas and reflux. Crazycat mentioned probiotics which I have yet to try. We bought some simethicone to try for tonight but wondering what other ideas you may have? He's definitely uncomfortable and I'm certainly not sleeping and though he appears to be he's waking up exhausted as I don't think it's very sound sleep. So, ideas?! Thanks in advance!
sweetdream
January 26th, 2015, 12:22 PM
I had two boys with hidden reflux. The second one we gave meds for it. Anti acids?
He needed it for almost a year. If its gas he will try to make himself like a ball and kick his legs. If it is reflux. He wil make his body taller!and arch his back.
lala22
January 26th, 2015, 03:33 PM
Thanks sweetdream. I know for sure he has gas as he kicks his legs and grunts like crazy but he also spits up in his mouth and get's super congested at night which makes me think he also has reflux. I'm going to talk to the doctor about it if it doesn't get better in the next few days.
FutureMiniMe
January 26th, 2015, 03:39 PM
Trust you instincts on that Lala. I knew something just wasn't right with my DS1 and he ended up having reflux...with DS2 I recognized it right away and got him right on the medication (although he was still just an all around fussier baby).

Congrats on baby Beth Daisy!!! How exciting.
Lala, I don't know if you've tried these, but have you tried using gas drops? Or placing baby at an incline at night? The rock n play sleeper is great for that. Also, when you change his diaper, try to roll him to the side instead of lifting his butt straight up by his legs/feet. That will help with gas.
As for me, I'm 38+4 (dd changed to the 5th) and feeling very ready! I think he could come any day now and I can't wait.

Wow, I have been MIA for a while and feel like I missed so much! Daisy, congrats on your little girl!! Post a pic when you get a chance :-)
Lala, this is a gas relieving product I have not tried myself, but have heard AWESOME things about: Amazon.com: Fridababy The Windi Gas and Colic Relief, 10-Count: Baby (http://www.amazon.com/Fridababy-Windi-Colic-Relief-10-Count/dp/B005IGTTIA)
We thought Lyra had reflux and the probiotics really seemed to help. We never ended up having to put her on any medication, but each baby is different, so definitely trust your gut!
Sweatdream, fingers crossed your time is close!!
I am 36 weeks today and just got back from the doctor. She is telling me to lay low, no sex or working out for the next week to try and get me to 37 weeks, but he will be here soon. I am already 2-3 cm dilated and 70% effaced :-) We have maternity pics scheduled for Sunday, which I will be really sad about missing if he comes before that, but after that, I'm ready for him! We stilol have to pack our hospital bag and do a few more things around the house, but overall we're ready. The only downside to him coming early is that my mom will likely miss being here. She'll be in Canada for work from the 2-12 of Feb and there's really no way she can get out of it, so that sucks. But it is what it is.
Sleep has been eluding me lately as well, and my tummy hurts pretty bad at night. I've been getting BH contractions since about 20 weeks, but definitely getting more and more lately. Not too much longer for any of us!!
kitkat18
January 28th, 2015, 03:57 PM
Wow crazy cat you are ready! Hope he stays put until after your photo session and preferably to 38 weeks. Am I right in thinking Lyra was early?

Yay crwzy cat! Very exciting. I hope he stays in for your photoshoot. As a photographer i know the importance of great maternity shots!
I must say though I'm super jealous of all you ladies getting to meet your little ones soon. My midwife won't even check me until I'm 38 weeks and they say that even if I was dilated it wouldn't mean a thing. It's kind of disapointing to me bc I'd like to know what's happening!
I too have been having Braxton hicks that seem to be getting worse/more frequent .. only time will tell I guess.

I too was walking around 2 cm 90% and -1 station and was 1 week and 1 day late SO crazycat maybe your mom WILL make it- haha. And no contractions again.

crazycatcouple
January 28th, 2015, 09:31 PM
Yeah, there are plenty of people that walk around fully effaced and somewhat dilated, so who knows. She seemed pretty sure there was no way I would make it to the 12th, but they don't really know. With my daughter, at my 37 week apt they said they were confident she wouldn't come in the next week, but alas, 2 days later my water broke! One thing that makes me think he might be coming soon though is the fact that I'm dilated at all. With Lyra, even though my water broke and I was having contractions, I was not dilated at all, not even 1 cm when I got to the hospital. They ended up giving me pitocin to help speed it along since I wasn't doing it naturally. We shall see!
Luckily I have my in-laws here to help with our daughter even if my mom isn't here, but yes, I would love it if she could be here somewhat soon after for sure!
Fingers crossed we all get to meet our little soon!!!

February 4th, 2015, 12:35 PM
Lala, do you mean a Mobi that's a pain but great right now? I know what you mean! I loved it and hated it at the same time :-) I loved my ergo when she got older though! The Tula is very similar to the ergos, but people say they are better for whatever reason and they have a toddler size option that can take them further along too. I'm not 100% sure they are better than an ergo, as I've heard it's personal preference, but if this guy loves to be worn, I think I'll at least check them out, since they seem to be the craze these days, lol.
Sweetdream you are so close!! I feel like this last part takes forever when you've had babies that were born early already. I remember Lyra took me by complete surprise since I thought for sure she's stay in the full 40 weeks, but alas, they are on their own schedule! So now with this guy, I keep thinking he'll come early, but knowing my luck, he'll stay put to 42 weeks, lol. I had another doctors apt today and asked them to check me to see if there had been any progress and none :-( Still 70% effaced and 3cm dilated, so he could decide to hang like that for a while. We shall see!
Robin, remind me again what your induction tactics are? I plan to have sex when I can manage, lol, continue with red raspberry leaf tea and capsules, take EPO both by mouth and internally, eat pineapple, walk like a mad woman... anything else I can do? Oh, and how many EPO's do you take? re you doing both methods? Do you have to poke a hole in then when inserted??
crazycatcouple
February 4th, 2015, 12:38 PM
PS, anyone else get a burning sensation in their ribs? I've had it for a while and thought it was him messing around in there, but when I mentioned it to my doctor today, she said it's actually muscle tearing as the weight of the baby pulls down :-( Ugh, not fun!
Oh, and is anyone doing placenta encapsulation? I was all set to do it, but my doctor said she had a patient who did and ended up getting sepsis and almost died - had to be taken to ICU and all that jazz, so she is highly against it. I'm not really one to go against my doctor's suggestions, so I think I'm going to pass on it, but it does make me a little bit sad because I've heard such great benefits from it.

February 4th, 2015, 01:14 PM
I'm doing basically the same things as you! Epo-im doing orally 3000mg day plus one inserted with pin hole at night. That's what the midwife recommended. They will not check my cervix until next week for progress. But I will be doing a stretch and sweep at that time as well to hopefully help get things moving. Last night I was having some contractions stronger than I've felt so far. I'm hoping that's a good sign.
I have a burning sensation on my old c section scar. It hurts! She is face down pushing against it so that's why. But no to rib pain so far.
Have you has heartburn crazy cat?
I had with my last and he had lots of hair. This one nothing.. maybe she will have very little hair like my first who I also has no heartburn with.
crazycatcouple
February 4th, 2015, 01:38 PM
Yeah, the heartburn has been hit and miss with this guy, some, but not too much :-)
My EPO pills are only 500mg, so I think I'll start today with 3 orally and 1 internal and then possibly increase from there. Thanks for the tips!
I feel like I am constantly contracting, but not painfully, so I guess they are still just BH. Hoping to get more going soon!!

February 4th, 2015, 01:44 PM
AT the risk of rocking the boat I BEG YOU GUYS do NOT NOT NOT take EPO orally when trying to induce labor. It doesn't work, they've done studies on it and it's shown ineffective, and it really thins your blood to do it. I tried this with my 3rd son and ended up with lots of very small blood clots in my amniotic fluid and the L and D nurse (who had 25 years of experience) was like "I've never seen anything like that in my life!" EPO is a blood thinner just like aspirin and remember how they warn and warn you not to use aspirin after 36 weeks pregnancy?? 1500 mg of EPO is a very strong blood thinner!
Use it up the wazoo only - that actually does seem to help and without the risks of orally ingesting it.
Georgia_Peach
February 4th, 2015, 01:46 PM
Good to know. Thanks atomic!
crazycatcouple
February 4th, 2015, 02:11 PM
Yes, thanks Atomic! It's always good to hear the other side of things. I just took a single 500mg pill orally, but will stop and just do vaginally starting tonight.
It's like with the placenta encapsulation stuff. All I could find online were positive things, but when I asked my doctor and she told me about her patient who got sepsis and almost died from it, I decided it wasn't worth the risk.
Georgia_Peach
February 4th, 2015, 06:07 PM
From eating the placenta caplets crazy cat? Crazy! I wonder how that's even possible like how that would do that to your body.
lala22
February 4th, 2015, 06:45 PM
Crazycat- I did placenta encapsulation and HOLY CRAP it's the best thing I've ever done. I bled FOREVER last time and had major baby blues- nada this time and bleeding was just about done for me at 4 weeks. I'm not sure how a person would have gotten sepsis from them- I would venture to say something sort of non pc and bet they got it from the hospital- this is so much more common than anyone wants to admit or anyone hears about. If you find a reputable midwife or doula to do and they are OSHA certified you are a-ok ESPECIALLY if you do the TCM method which cooks it until anything would be dead anyway ( I did a mix of raw and tcm). Feel free to ask me more about it but I would highly recommend it. Also, yes I meant I use the MObi currently and love it EXCEPT when it's dragging on gross floors so that I can get it on:/ I wish it was shorter and more manageable.

Aww, I'm loving all the pictures!
Still no baby here :-( I am definitely getting anxious! If I make it to my apt on Wed, I'm hoping there will be more progress. I've been walking a lot and feel like he's moved down, even having some pressure in my tailbone, but who knows. They do come when they are ready, and there's just not much to do to help them along, unfortunately. I'm really hoping he'll make his appearance this week, but we shall see!
Keep the cutie pie pics coming ladies!
Boysway, it is a tough wait, but your pics are pretty solid boy to me, so I'm really thinking it will just be time to celebrate!

I'm so happy for them :-) And now Coda has a built in playmate in his cousin who will just be about 4 months younger than him!

Admittedly I have already bought quite a few boys clothes but hidden them, lol. I even had miss 4 with me. Yep, I totally think you've got your little boy in there Boysway :-) The countdown is on!!
I am 38 weeks tomorrow, although according to my original dates, which I know are right on, I'm just 37 weeks today. They moved my due date up, but I think unnecessarily. I didn't have any of this anticipation with my daughter because I fully expected to go the full 40 weeks with her since she was my first. My water broke with her on what would be Thursday of this week, if you compared the timeline of each (37w2d). I was so caught off guard with her, I had no time to feel anxious. But with this one, since she came early, I guess I expected this little guy too. Plus, at my apt 2 weeks ago, the doctor seemed to think I'd be lucky to keep him in 1 more week, so that gave me false hope. Now, 2 weeks later... I do feel more cramping, lower back pain, and overall discomfort. I've had lots of contractions, with some of them being more labor like, but nothing regular just yet. Hoping for tonight, lol.
Georgia_Peach
February 10th, 2015, 01:42 PM
Last night I was having full regular contractions that I couldn't sleep through. They went from 30 min apart to 10. They were painful and felt like I was having hot flashes with everyone. When I got up today they started to subside. Still having some but not regular now. I'm not sure what to make of it. Definitely not Braxton hicks! I still have YET to be checked for cervical changes. So i have no idea what is happening wirh my body. Just kinda annoyed now... and tired lol
Hoping to get checked this fri (which is the next time the midwives can see me).

Crazycatcouple Have a hot curry tonight Might get things moving I hope you don't have to wait too much longer I know it can be anxious waiting in the last few weeks Hope your boy isn't too lazy and decides to stay put for another few weeks! Boys have a tendency to stay put in the womb as long as they can! Keep moving girlie!!
Robin I had those contractions the night before I went in to true labour They were six min apart for a few hours but when I went in to the hospital they completely stopped It was false labour but I went in to real labour 24 hours later so you may not be too far off labour Here's hoping your princess will be here soon x

Congrats to those who have already had their bub since my last visit...and how exciting to everyone who is so close. :)
I have 9 sleeps to go, but I am freaking out a little as I have to have my first c-section!! :worry: The decision was made yesterday, forms were signed and its all booked in. It will all be dependant on whether or not a NICU bed is available (our hospital has been crazy busy with births and babies that they've been sending women in labour to Sydney and NZ!) but at this stage it is all happening next Friday, 20th Feb!! :)

Congratulations on to you all who have had their beautiful baby! It only seems like yesterday when we were all in the TTC threads!
I'm more likely to be in the February Thread now as I am booked for my first c section too! It cams as a shock after 3 natural home births but I was advised to chose c section as it would be too risky for my poor pelvic floor due to previous injury...
I haven't got a date yet as like you Sam, my nearest hospital is overbooked and they have no free slot for me at the moment! I'm also quite scared of the procedure ...
Best of luck to everyone! Xx

Boysway I'm confident ur having a boy too! Can't wait to hear.
All is well here, super busy with 3 little ones and we just moved apartment on the 10th Feb so it's been hectic. Little Beau is wonderful and such a little snuggler! Anytime im close (esp in bed) he wriggles his little body toward me and loves snuggle time! The girls never really moved that much when they were newborns, but he can wriggle around enough to move himself quite a bit. I'm def really enjoying him (yes even the waking up and feeding whilst exhausted) as I know we are done having babies.
So much love to everyone and can't wait to hear more baby news xo

Wow, I'm surprised we haven't had a new one arrive yet! There seem to be so many of us right on the verge :-)
Our little man is still sitting nice and comfy... 3 weeks now at 3cm, lol. I go again tomorrow and I think they'll offer me to induce next week if I want. I'm debating doing it, even though I'm not super fond of the idea. I'm just so uncomfortable, and I'm worried he's getting to be huge! They said they would do it this week, but I wasn't ready. Next Wed will be 40 weeks. It's hard to believe he's not here yet considering the doctors told me at 36 weeks to "try and keep him in another week". Ugh... SO ready to meet this little guy!
Georgia_Peach
February 16th, 2015, 06:09 PM
I know what you mean crazy cat. I am uncomfortable too. I've been told that they won't induce me until at least 41 weeks and I will be lucky if I even find an OB who will do an induction bc I've had a failed one before that led to a c section. So frustrating to think I would have to go that long (41 weeks) with a midwife... only to just have a c-section. Not that there is anything wrong with them.. but I would much rather have planned one with an OB that I've built a relationship with and schedule one early at 38 weeks or whatever.
I'm very scared she won't drop into pelvis since I'm 0% dialated. I do recall last pregnancy though he dropped last minute so who knows. That was 40 weeks 4 days though.😐
lala22
February 17th, 2015, 12:46 AM
Oh ladies hang tight. Inductions are rarely pretty and in nearly all cases they DO eventually make their entrance- it's just usually on their own schedule:-) Don't induce until 42 weeks or when medically necessary- that's my two cents:-) I know how hard the last few weeks are ESPECIALLY when you're last one came early but they will come- they all do!
crazycatcouple
February 17th, 2015, 12:25 PM
Robin, I've read that with subsequent pregnancies, a lot of times the baby doesn't drop until labor actually starts... so maybe she's just waiting for that to happen :-)

Woo hoo.. congrats Sweatdream! Can't wait to hear more details and see pics :-)
Just got back from the doctors... am now 3-4cm dilated, so a little progress. Still not in labor of course, lol. My doctors won't let me go past 41 weeks, even if I wanted to though, which I'm honestly fine with. I may even still choose to induce next week at 40, but am hoping it doesn't come to that and he decides to come on his own! There are risks with going too long as well, and due dates are truly just estimates. Even though my water broke with Lyra, I was still somewhat induced in the sense that they had to give me pitocin to help me dilate, since nothing was happening. She came 11 hours after my water broke, and it was a fabulous labor and birth with a perfectly healthy baby at the end. So in the end, I trust my doctors and don't think they would allow me to induce next week if there were risks. Some babies just like hanging out in mommy's tummy :-) Again, really hoping I don't have to make the choice though, and he decides to make his appearance sooner than later!
Robin, my fingers are crossed for you that she starts showing more signs soon!! I can imagine it's different considering you had a failed induction previously. My opinion is to trust your doctor or midwife though, as they generally know more than us and have ours and the baby's best interests at heart! So this will be an attempted vbac then? Was your 2nd a successful vbac? I'm sure the doctors/midwives are even more cautious because of that then too.
Georgia_Peach
February 17th, 2015, 06:24 PM
I totally agree crazy cat.!
Yes last one was a successful vbac at 40 weeks 4 days. He was big at almost 9 pounds. I did however move to a different city and this is a different midwife than last time. I also stalled a bit during labour so they gave pitocin and I tolerated it great! I think I'd be perfectly fine with an induction.. it's just frustrating trying to communicate that to midwives bc they are so into natural stuff. (Which i also agree with).I agree babies all come when they are ready etc but wirh my last even being over 4 days he had Maconium and it wasn't a perfect birth since they rushed him away to suction out his lungs etc.
First I was induced at 37 weeks and labored for 36 hrs. I truly don't think he was ready to come out.

Wow Robin, that's fantastic that you were able to have a successful vbac! It sounds like you should be successful this time too then :-)

Congratulations Sweetdreams! Xxx
I'm too counting the days now till next Thursday for my c-section. Hoping baby will stay put till then as don't fancy an emergency c-section. My MW brought me a homebirth bag as a contingency plan in case it happens too quick. Last birth took 2 hours from start to finish.
I remember taking a long walk and I'm sure that started things up. And maybe being on my knees cleaning skirting boards ;-).

Thanks daisymoo-- midwife did stretch and sweep yesterday but I still had no changes in cervix. Not dialated just very soft. She said that 3rd babies usually don't drop until labor. So I've decided to just enjoy these last few days of being pregnant since it may be my last pregnancy. I will be napping more and spending quality time with the boys. 😊
I can't believe I only have 9 days left (if she comes on time. Lol)
Also my birthday is march 4.. so if she comes late maybe she will have my birthday. How wonderful!
