View Full Version : Future GD......what if?

I am new here and have not yet begun to sway. Still going through all the info and although I have decided to hire Atomic to help with my personal sway I can't help but read all the stories on this forum about GD. I have three boys and did not experience GD with any. Our first we did not find out the sex. Our second we did and the third we didn't. I was slightly hoping for a girl with the third but was not swaying, in fact, didn't even know what swaying was.
Anyway I guess I am posting this because I have already announced that we are going to be trying for a girl on FB (it doesn't count unless its on FB (joke) ) and reading how GD can hit people especially at the ultrasound and throughout the rest of the pregnancy I am wondering if I should not find out the sex for the fourth? I was thinking I was but now I don't know. It will be torture to wait but I would hate to be in a hormonal mess and find out the sex and have to deal with GD for the rest of the pregnancy. I am not sure I will even experience GD but hormones can do crazy things.
Even thinking of having another baby is a lot. That is part of the reason I have not started the sway because then the clock is ticking. Is there ever a perfect time? My first and third were both oops's.
I guess I am trying to be prepared for another boy but I do, no, DH and I really want a girl and I guess you never know how finding out the sex will affect you.
Sorry for the rambling but I feel like I cannot go into this without owning that a 4th boy can very well happen.

Welcome and GL! I guess you never really know until you try? You're right about accepting that a 4th boy could happen. Once you've accepted that I would say sway! Best case scenario you get your little girl, the other possibility is that you get your 4th little prince but if you've already accepted it I think you will be fine. Good luck to whatever you decide, and I know that there are so many helpful ladies on here to support you along the way :)

I think it's brave to announce you are trying for a girl like that. It's honest, which I love! I think you have to obviously be open to 4 boys. If you have never "swayed", we can certainly help you with that and give you the best shot possible at having that girl!

That is funny :) I didn't mean to be brave, I was assuming that if you were on here if was for one or the other :) You should see my FB page. It is highly entertaining! Anyway, thanks for the support. I think we have accepted another boy but I think its best if we "go green" (is that the term for not finding out?) because that way I can avoid any GD during the pregnancy.....after is another story. I think I read the stats are on here 2/3 vs 1/3 getting a girl? That is about 63%?

Yes, it's about 63% there's been lots of success lately so the numbers should go up.
Your boys are very handsome! Good luck to you! I hope you get a daughter!!

Thank you! I hope you get a boy! I see you are from Sac :) I go up there often as my mom and granny live in Lincoln. In fact, just this past Sunday we were at Bishop's pumpkin farm in Wheatland. If you have never been you should check it out :)

Thanks I would LOVE to have a little boy. I am originally from the north bay area and have been living here for a while now. I haven't heard of that pumpkin farm. Thank you for the tip  what part of California are you from?

I am in the East Bay :) I was talking with DH last night and I think we are going to do the "secret" you know where you put all of what you want out there and it comes true? Its easier said than done because I feel like I keep saying to myself that I will have another boy rather than I KNOW its going to be a girl so I don't get GD. I wonder if its better to go all in and say we are GOING to have a girl (for you a boy) or what? What month are you trying? I still can't decide. I don't want a december baby because my first and third are one day apart in the middle of December. I did buy the personal plan last night so I can stop researching like a mad person what I am going to do.

I'm hoping to go back to the bay area next year and I might have a good job opportunity in my hometown in June. I'm thinking of ttc after that. I'm a big believer of the laws of attraction and the secret but like you, I'm unsure if it works for genders of children and I'm undecided if I should use it just in case. I still haven't made up my mind. I bought a personal plan, all the supplements, and everything else needed for a blue sway and they are all in my closet right now. I honestly think that I'm making excuses not to sway right now because I'm afraid. I'm lame

Haha! You understand me completely!! You're awesome!! I feel the same. LOL! I had my DD3 in the middle of November 2012, right before thanksgiving. It was great. Maybe you can do that? I conceived her at the end of February 2012. Or maybe just go on the LE diet for a few months and start then

Before Thanksgiving is a great time! People are not on VK, in the holiday spirit and ready to party, thats when I usually throw a party for my oldest. February would mean I have 5 months! AHHHH! That feels like tomorrow! lol :) The diet is for 90 days for best results, right? I am still confused on the BD part? I thought O+12 would be the best chance for a girl but I think for girl its once 3-4 days before O? I can tell you for a boy, at least with me, right near that O seems to be what I am doing. The problem is I was never tracking my cycle with any of them so I really don't know. Were you tracking??

Welcome and goodluck. I have three boys and am wanting a girl next as my final child. I researched swaying for a long time but decided I do not want to chance it and risk never having a daughter so now I am researchig IVF with PGD for gender selection to do in a year or two

Good luck to you too! I wish I could do that, too much $$ for us. I will cross my fingers and my toes for you!! You need one with 6 boys! If I end up with 6 maybe I will start a fundraiser for HT :)

well, wait a minute. Before I go opening my big mouth saying I can't do something I should ask how much is HT? I was thinking it was around 20,000$? I see you live in NZ so that is probably different than the states?

Depends where you live and where you go. It will cost around that amount for us in NZ dollars including flights. We have chosen Europe. We can not afford it but it is very important to me so we are going to find a way to make it happen. After thinking I was pregnant and having not swayed I was terrified and couldn't imagine doing it all again and not even getting my girl out of it as much as I would have loved another boy in the end, I knew I had to make HT happen. Only you know what is the best path for you.

Yes! I loved having her around thanksgiving. It was great! I believe 90 days is great for a pink sway depending on how much weight you needed to lose. For pink, you want to only have 1 attempt only around ovulation. Using opks are fine! I think atomic said O+12 Is hard for ladies to get pregnant. I wasn't temping only using opks  I'm going to want lots of updates! Good luck Dyan

Do you know if the one attempt is how you got your girls or was it the OPK? I never paid attention to when I conceived my boys but I know I was ingesting a TON of dairy, chicken and fish. I have since gone vegan and this will be my first pregnancy on a vegan diet.

If we get our DG we will have to meet up and do a happy baby dance! Well, not THAT BD :)

With DD1 and DD3, they were both 1 attempt in the fertile window using the "pull out" method to NOT get pregnant. That method obviously isn't a good form of birth control for me LOL! With DD2, she was 1 attempt around cd12. So yes, I can vouch that 1 attempt does work! I am usually always on low calorie diets, hardly any meat or dairy, never eating breakfast, and only eating twice per day. There's definitely something to swaying! Doing only 1 attempt has a 70% success rate for pink sways! Thanks for sharing your tips also.

My midwife calls it "pull and pray"! Lol That is our "protection" too. Have you ever used an OPK?

LOL! I like that.
Yes I got cheap ones from eBay. They are the "Alice" brand. They are affordable and work well. I've never used opks until these last few cycles to track my ovulation days.

Just started reading this thread and thought i would add my two cents:
On waiting to find out the gender: I think it can go either way. Personally, I was an absolute hormonal wreck after my son was born, not because of gender disappointment or anything, but just from the stress of it all. And i am a very stoic person normally. My husband jokes that he is the woman in the relationship because he tends to be more emotional than I am. But right after the birth, I was a mess. There is NO way I would wait until the birth to find out because if the baby wasn't my desired gender, I would be facing the post-partum hormones and having to deal with a new baby. I wouldn't want those first days of bonding to be clouded with gender disappointment.
For me, I want to know ASAP because I can spend the bulk of my pregnancy imagining the child I will actually have, rather than my desired gender. Until I know for sure, I am imagining that i am having a little girl. It is exciting to think about, but if that is not reality, then I want to know so I can make my peace with it, grieve the loss of the daughter I will never have (even if it takes months) and start to get excited about the son I will have.
I am presently in the waiting period to find out if I am having a boy or a girl. I'm 6 weeks now.
As for the actual sway:
I think atomic will tell you that all the various timing things (3-4 day cut off and o+12) don't really work. It is really hard to get preggo with O+12 because it is nearly impossible to figure out the exact moment of O. It is also really hard to get pregnant with a 3-4 cut off because the egg isn't viable. I think Atomic's explanation is that people who claim those timing methods worked were probably off a little on when O actually happened. The other thing is that if those timing things actually worked, it is probably more that they require people to make 1 attempt to get pregnant.
So the point is that if you only do 1 sway tactic--make it only 1 attempt (unprotected sex) just before ovulation. That is getting great results, and doing it right before O helps you get pregnant sooner. I didn't have any trouble getting pregnant with my son, but it took us several months to get pregnant with this one because we were doing so many things to make it harder to get pregnant.
Of course, if you are getting a personalized plan, Atomic will tell you exactly what to do! =)
Good luck!!

Ooh, i feel the same! I have 3 boys and have never really felt GD. Lately i have been wanting a girl intensely! I have been on the LE diet for 2 weeks now. I am a bit scared i will have major GD in the future if bub is a boy. I have accepted the fact that i may get a 4th boy and thats ok.
