View Full Version : I am doing something right with the boy diet....I have gained more inches/weight than wanted

I am 5'6" and normally weigh about 115 pounds. I come from a very thin/ high metabolism family. I have NEVER had trouble with weight and even postpartum the weigh does not stick around for long.
I started the boy diet several months ago and now weigh 125 pounds and my measurements (hips, waist, thighs) are the same as 3 months postpartum with DD4. I do some weight training....35 sit-ups and 65 squats daily, and leg exercises and jump-n-jacks every other day.

So, my question is....what can I do differently to lose or stop gaining weight, without jeopardizing my boy sway? Small amounts of Cardio? Limit bread? I have no idea, but I have to do something.

I do think I weighed closer to the 15pds mark when conceiving my boys and a little less with girls (DD4 I was 112).

HELP!!!! :hair:

Okay, I know you ladies have feedback. I know, I know... At 125 a am still "thin", but my clothes don't fit (my bigger ones) and DH says the only new clothes I can buy is maternity. Please, please....any ideas?

WP I think your thoughts on cutting back on the breads would help! I think the best carbs for TTC boy are going to come from fruits and vegetables. What is a typical day for you right now? What are you eating for B/L/D and snacks?

I do think small amounts of cardio would be good; can you find time for a walk? Or if you can do intervals (run as fast as you can for 2 mins, walk 1, repeat) that will help build muscle as well as burn some cals.

Not me because at 125 I look fat!!!( and Im not kidding) Normally Im around 105 lbs and that's when I look ok. Now Im the same like you and have a fat butt big tummy , really just a bunch of fat on me .I look like this only when Im pregnant:sad:at least 4-5 months!
Don't know what to do! I usually eat bread or bagel for breakfast , lunch and if not then I have no clue what to eat?? Can't just have cereal all the time.
Fruit and veggie I already eat every day and getting tired of salad plus is so expensive! I don't know what to do! Now I really hope I get a bfp first try but of course how can I be so lucky?
My DH says to buy new clothes because even my big cloths are small now! I have 1 jeans right now and like 3 shirts that's it!:hair:

I would love to hear Atomic's answer to this one.....my only thought are to do as Begonia suggested and eat protein and fruit with minimal bread carbs. I am just going to have to eat less overall, but I hate the thought of doing that right now, even though I really need to.

When I was on the Slimming World plan the 'free' foods you could eat in unlimited quantities were fruit/veg/beans/meat/fish/potatoes/pasta (plus others but those were the main ones). The 'Healthy Extras' were limited so you had one portion of either milk or cheese each day (a portion of most cheeses being approx 40g) and one portion of either wholemeal bread (2 small slices) or fibre rich cereal (around 30g) (again - there were others), as well as limited 'treats'. I think it's those 'Healthy Extras' you could use to limit/stop weight gain (once at their target weight these are the foods people would increase, so kind of the opposite).

Are you eating alot of bread and cereal?

zanacal- how can beans, meat, potatoes, pasta be unlimited?? If I eat this Im just getting bigger and bigger! really.
I guess things are working different for different ppl?

Unlimited means 'as much as you need to satisfy your appetite' and I would always try to have fruit as a snack before I'd reach for any of those things between meals, but I guess if you crammed in as much as you possibly could all day long it wouldn't help to lose weight!!

LOl sure it would not hehe
but really I don't eat much of it and still put on weight:mad: and the worst thing is I even suppose to eat more potato because right now it's just once or twice / week and I have to up that for next month for my try!

I am normally a big eater with a high metabolism, and high activity. Before TTCing I ate 3 balanced meals a day, + sugar, and no snacks.

Now I eat a snack right when I get up, eat breakfast with the children, snack then lunch, snack then dinner, snack and bed.

Snacks: Lara bars, nuts and dried fruit, bananas, apples, gelatin, fruit juice, or boiled eggs.
Breakfast: oatmeal w/ PB, eggs with WW toast, banana & boiled eggs, or WW pancakes
Lunch: Turkey hotdogs (no nitrates), chicken salad sandwich on WW bread, pasta w/ tomatoes and peppers, or left overs from dinner.
Dinner: Spagetti w/ tomato pasta sauce, meat loaf, tacos, chicken fried steak,......pretty much meat and a large variety of veggies including potatoes.

All of the whole wheat bread and pancakes we have are homemade with wheat I grind in my grain mill. It don't get any more "whole" than what I make.

I thought doing the weights would be enough to keep weight gain at bay, but I guess not. So......

Does anyone think doing weights on a mini trampoline is a good/bad idea? Too much impact for the 2WW?

Sorry you are going threw the same thing Flava, but I am glad I am not alone.

Awesome about grinding your own wheat, WP! That is amazing! Your diet sounds good, very much like mine. Unfortunately, I used to eat a lot more fattening stuff when on IG, but I still gain from putting too many calories in my mouth.

I am a little worried about putting on too much weight as well. I am 103 pounds at the moment so even adding a few pounds is going to be noticeable. I have put on 2 pounds in the last 2 months which I am assuming is due to starting weights. Anyway fingers crossed we don't have to be on the diet for too long!

Wow, 103!!! How tall are you guys?

See, I'm 5'7" so my ideal body weight is 135, which I've weighed since high school. I've been told by trainers that your ideal body weight (women) is 100lbs plus 5lbs for every inch over 5' you are. So if you are only 5' tall, 100lbs is right. If you are 5'8" and weigh 100lbs, you are a supermodel and don't eat. LOL

And WP, I second Begonia in saying that it's ok to exercise in 2ww, just nothing new. I was always doing a ton of cardio, like crazy jumping around and stuff, and did it everyday in my 2ww with my girls, as I didn't know I was pg. Amazing they didn't shake right out of me. I guess if your bean is going to stick, it's going to stick come hell or high water.

That really wouldn't apply to me! I'm 5'6" and would look ill at 130lb - 145lb would be really good for me and probably a little too thin. I'm big boned though, I can never get a watch to go round my wrist!

I'm 5'2". My BMI is in the lower range of normal so I still consider myself to be a healthy weight.

I would increase my weight training and try to "spend" my calories in a more nutrient-rich way...so rather than bread, pick fruit or vegetables for carbs along with my protein.

You can def. do cardio too if you like, just make sure that you do no more than 45 minutes, 3 or 4 days a week.

You don't have to though. The coconut water has more potassium than potatoes and only 75 cals a bottle.

I love potatoes but I NEVER ate or eat them more than 2 x a week.

Ok I have to ask you where you live now. I'm in Spangle, wheat country!!

I think your diet looks perfect and I wouldn't change a thing - I do think adding just a smidge of cardio will help keep you from gaining more. I am a little concerned about weights on a trampoline because that seems dangerous to me!! (but I'm kind of a klutz.)

Yes, it's just fine to exercise in the 2WW. That bean means business!!!

We no longer live in Washington. We are in Georgia now. I was born in McCleary (closer to Olympia), WA. It was very pretty out there, just sooooo wet. Wish we had some of the that wet here though.....should have bottled it up.

I only do 3 pds weight on the tramp. while doing jumping-jacks or the like. I don't have any trouble staying in place, just wanted to make sure the bean can hang on tight.

I have been doing only 15 mins of cardio(on the tramp) and limiting the empty carbs....down to 122

Oh I see! My dad lived kinda sorta near McCleary when I was growing up!

Keep after it with the diet and exercise!
