OK, can anyone help me.... I've become a bit addicted to a McDonald's honeycomb frappe and not sure I can stop ;-) Anyone think of a low fat/low sugar/sweetner way to make one at home that's girl friendly????

Hahaha, there's always something isn't there. Just an idea but you could make your own at home with semi skimmed milk, buy the monin honeycomb syrup or make some sugar free honeycomb, then on top you could use low fat squirty cream. Not sure it would be the same though! Good luck, wish someone would come up with some no fat no sugar yummy chocolate!!!

I know peppermint tea is suppose to sway pink..do you guys think mixing it with raspberry tea would be ok? I like the idea of peppermint tea, just can't stand the taste. Raspberry makes me enjoy it a little more.

I'm not sure about the raspberry. I add some sweetner.

Think I'll have to have a Google of frappe recipes. Maybe just some milk, ice, coffee and cocoa powder with lots of sweetner, low fat squirty cream and a little syrup as a treat. Will have to try ;-)

Does any of you have tips to how to gain weight and add up fat-intake without going over on protein or ruining the sway? I keep losing weight although I eat 2000 kcals and go to the upper limit in protein and fat. I am down to 46,7 kilo (my height is 165 cm.), so I am affraid I will stop ovulation if I don't gain some kilos. But I eat and eat and have recently startet to add cake and bounty bar to my meals to add fat. Nothing helps. Atomic have suggested me to reduce cardio to 4 times a week, eat more eggs, full fat dairy and go up to 2200 kcals a day. People around me ask if I am sick, my mother want me to eat protein bars and go to the doctor to have some blood test done to make sure I am not sick. But I feel weel and don't feel sick. If any of you have some advices for how to gain weight without ruining my sway I would be very happy.

Another question. How do we swayers know if we get enough vitamins and nutrients? Since staring LE diet in January I have cut out all meat (except seafood), healtly oils, nuts, seeds, avocado and nutritious foods as I used to eat gallons of while I got my boys. But how do we make sure to stay healthy and get enough of vitamins? While swaying I am not suppose to eat vitamins either, so I have to get if from the food. I eat tons of rice and vegetables, and some beans and lenses, but does this contains enough vitamins?

I think our body stores nutrients for a while and because we can eat fruit and veg. We still get nutrients that way.
Maybe add in a large glass of wine, a bread roll, rice... These things add calories but not much fat or protein, sweetcorn is quite calorific. I'll let you know if I think of anything else. I am of similar height and about 49kg but to maintain that I have to do an hour of exercise and eat about 1500 calories a day, wish we could swap some calories lol

Chocolate - that sounds like a fab plan re the frappe!! I may have try that one...

Dream sister - I'm not really sure what you can add from what atomic has already said. Are you on the upper limits of fat and protein - 60g each? How about low impact cardio like just walking? Perhaps write a separate thread that atomic will read as she doesn't usually look at these ones x

I've had an awful few days diet wise, I've binged so badly and I'm pretty sure I'm in the tww which I know is important to maintain on, but I've honestly been like a woman possessed and done something I'm not proud off :( back on it properly today though and had a good long fast with a 15k run and eaten well following that, fingers crossed that behaviour has passed now!x

Honestly ladies, please don't worry about a day or two or even an off week! You never know when the perfect egg will be released or how long it will take to get pregnant. My girl mom friends had a few binge weeks before they got pregnant! Just pick back up and start fresh. Who knows, this may be what you needed to get pregnant anyway! Plus, I doubt you were really that bad anyway. As long as you didn't eat a side of beef in one sitting, you'll be fine [emoji6]!

Last nights dinner was my personal best of halloumi salad and a cheesy flat bread, wine. Night before was fish with salad and garlic baby potatoes. My lunch today had no real thought behind it. I just grabbed a brioche. Had some vegetable rice. cut a slice of cheese and put some tobasco sauce on it. I currently have a few fries in the oven and that's my lunch done. Diet coke.

Excited to share!

Amazing Lunch today! Lasagna Roll Ups!! I cooked the lasagna noodles until they were soft. then i cooked mushroom, spinach and added a little black pepper. then I got tomato sauce and added some spices and spread the mix on the noodles as they lay flat, then rolled them up and baked them! So delicious!

Also, I had a chat with my gf who is expecting a baby girl. I asked her what she used to eat before she was pregnant. She said breakfast was a protein bar and coffee. Then she would have a yogurt with some fruit. Then for lunch she would have a big salad and dinner was usually vegetables with chickpeas and curry sauce or something of that type. She is also a huge coffee and wine* drinker!

Thanks Nessa, I really need reminders of what mums of girls eat at the moment. I feel like I'm emotional eating right now, averaging an extra 500 calories a day but am after ovulation so maybe a natural thing and not reaching for meat! Was thinking about some strawberries and yoghurt as a late breakkie, then a salad and maybe another salad with rolls for tea so makes me feel better knowing a girl mum ate similar :-)

Horrendous day Monday on diet but back on it today, I had salad for lunch with some chicken, I did a six mile run so I needed something in salad. Dinner was two slices of vegetarian pizza, with a few roast potatoes and slice of banana bread! Think may have over done the fat but hey ho! X

Sure Chocolate, they DTD as much as possible as she was worried she wouldn't get pregnant due to prior health issues. Im so happy for her :) and her diet checks out! I asked her for a few of her favourite meals since Im new to the vegetarian way and she has lots of years of experience! Ill share her recipes as I explore them myself.

For now Id love to share my dinner from tonight! it was so yummy! I had a tomato, cucumber, arugula and ranch dressing salad with a delicious wrap! In my wrap was sautéed mushrooms, spinach, some cucumber, tatziki, feta and olives.
Dessert was a chocolate jello pudding, a pop tart and glass of wine!

Im with you there 3!! Im not eating when i want etc.. BUT, ive stopped counting calories and im eating what i want when i DO eat! Im just starting to slide because i think 4 months is long enough for me on the LE and DH and i have agreed our attempt month is July! Soooo, thats more time on diet for me. AND - i started brisk walking everyday, but then heard 40 minutes is boy frequency, so i stopped that. Tried jumping on the trampoline but i feel like i have eyes staring at me! So stopped that! I think ill do a cardio video instead. Its just doing it everyday and trying to find that gap! Its all or nothing it seems so no point in starting and then missing two or three days!
Couch potatoe suits me better but im not loosing weight. Still same weight as when i began this journey.
Bleh..

Do you have much to lose though squiggle? I was surprised as I've lost a few lbs that I didn't *really* need to lose from being on this diet that I really didn't think I would?! I am doing the cardio though, at least 5 times per week and usually running, which for an hour is quite heavy going.

I've just got back from a three course lunch in celebration of our anniversary! I curbed it fairly well though I think; I had a small bowl of mixed olives for starter, the lighter pizza thing which apparently is around 550kcals and was vegetarian - goats cheese scattered on top mmmmmm!! Then a chocolate torte with vanilla gelato (always have to have a pudding!!) followed by a shot of coffee. I also had a small glass of wine with it!! It could have been significantly worse given the week I've had with my diet so I feel pleased at least with that. Oh and I'm running tonight too.

I've been on the diet since the beginning of Feb so I'm defo getting fed up with it which just isn't helping my resolve unfortunately.x

Your lunch sounds fab! That's my kinda eating! Wine, chocolate, olives, pizza, goats cheese - all my favs! I can deffo loose some weight. Im not over weight, but id like to loose before getting preg anyway.. I always feel better a little lighter than what i am currently also. I dont mind doing cardio, i was running before i started LE, just not 6/7 days a week for 60 mins. I just have to pick a day and start and keep going till attempt.

I had a kitkat at lunch. diet coke. small role with cheese. and a tiny bit of mushroom rice-which i dont like just finished it off..

Most of us have given up tracking salt totally and you can actually use the protein to meet your limits if you need to. :)

My heart rate is always up a bit and lower a bit as I vary what I do at the gym for intensities.

Urgh I've got a few spots along my right jaw line and near my ear, right side only and face looks suddenly greasy today! Have been eating a few small chocolates and more white grains than whole grains but why just the right side? Does that indicate something with right ovary maybe??

I had a pitta bread with small amount of Parmasan and salad and some quaver crisps. Some white chocolate.
White rolls with margarine and salad cream, watsit crisps and another pack of white chocolate buttons, strawberries and yoghurt.
Had crisps today which I don't usually have but had to grab something and kept me within goals for today

Went to a friends house for a buffet lunch and did have a couple of chipolata sausages though today but with salad, potato, cheese mini pastry and crisps so quite alot of girl friendly carbs.

My best friend had her scan at 12 weeks and I'm sure it's a girl nub but Atomic said 12 weeks the gender can't be predicted yet so I'm holding onto that for a bit. If my best friend has a girl I think I'll be in for some rough days before sorting myself out, doesn't help I feel pmt coming

Af has landed for me chocolate making it a 26 day cycle, 2nd af after finishing POP so promising that my cycle has come back but a little disappointing that I didn't catch... Anyway, onwards and upwards! Not sure exactly when I ov but my last day of EWCM was cd15. I'll continue with the e4d plan this month and see how we get on.

Diet wise... I've been experimenting with recipes from the deliciously Ella cookbook as she does all vegan (together with gluten and wheat free) recipes. I've made the caramel chocolate slices and wow are they amazing but absolutely loaded with fat due to the nuts!! Otherwise diet hasn't been too bad today, let's hope I can continue a bit better this week.x

Caramel chocolate slices sounds amazing but I'd binge on them I'm sure ;-) I felt really warm today, much hotter during my work out so I'm hoping af will be here very soon as want to crack on with the next cycle before I change my mind!

atomic sagebrush

Stay in limits of diet. You have freedom within those limits. All the LE Diet is, is the lowest but still normal intake of calories, protein, and fat. This "tricks" your body into thinking times are harder than they were while still remaining fertile and healthy enough to get and stay pregnant. Chocolate is just fuel to your body - your body does not know what it is at all and does not think "hmm this is an expensive treat, better make a boy". It registers X number of cals, fat, protein. That's all.

@girlieplease I think that Atomic only just wants you to count the calories in high veggies likes potatoes. So you only need to count the fat in the butter and cheese and sometimes my fitness pal can be a little off with the numbers 209 g of fat doesn't sound right at all . Hi everyone

Long time no speak! Goodness I have been busy! Diet was in check up to my first peak, then I was in London all weekend for a wedding where lots of alcohol was consumed! Then had another peak 5 days later! What is all that about?! So I suppose we had 2 attempts in one! Still haven't been having breakfast, have eaten some chicken twice since, no snacking. AF is due on Friday, I really want to test but don't want to tempt fate! The suspense is killing me! I keep trying to sense if I am pregnant! Only difference this month (first month TTC) is that I didn't have any EWCM, so tmi, and normally I do. Do you think this means anything?!

Hi everyone - long time lurker first time poster!! I'm 29 and I've got 2 little boys, still breastfeeding 11 month old, will TTC from November. I've tried to follow LE calorie/fat/protein restrictions for about 6 weeks, and have managed most days by a vegetarian diet and no breakfast. And I've lost 5kg (had lots to lose, down from 91 to 86, I'm 165cm). BUT it's such a massive change from my long time usual diet - eggs for breakfast, tuna for lunch and steak for dinner (protein on protein on protein...). And I feel like crap now!! No energy, and just moody and awful. Too tired to exercise. I'll see my doctor and make sure I'm not anaemic or anything. Do you think this is just normal for a switch to vego diet? TIA x

Hi Bepan, afraid to say that yes I felt awful when I started the diet too and so have others. Maybe you could slowly decrease meat until you feel better, take the first week or 2 to ease into it

I've actually gone off meat now, the sight of steak or burgers (which my husband loves) makes me feel sick ... Weird!!! Today I had crackers with hummous and light Philadelphia, and dinner was a prawn cocktail wit a bagel and cream cheese, along with diet coke and a cappuccino throughout the day

My lunch was a very small portion of Moroccan cous cous. A bowl of rocket and tomoates - drizzled with balsamic and chilli oil. Had a few carrots and dipped them in hummous. Two chocolate biscuits. Diet coke. Dinner is halloumi salad! Surprise surprise!!

Surprisingly this week hasn't been too bad for me diet wise given the lack of sleep from night shifts which usually sends me insane with food!!! Got a bbq to go to tonight though so protein and fat will probably go out of the window, and kcals as I'm taking a smore brownie pudding round!!!x

I'm back ladies. I've gotta be strict. AF should be here in a day or two.

First meal: decaf coffee with a splash of creamer and a blueberry pastry. Second meal- Asian chopped salad with MorningStar veggie crumbles, a small roll, and apple, and some cauliflower if I feel hungry still. Third meal- MorningStar veggie burger with lettuce from my garden, tomato, slice of cheese, baked potato with a tsp of Grapeseed oil, a pickle, and a small salad from my garden if I'm still hungry.

Not too bad since I fell off the wagon for a few days after getting those evap lines on cheap pregnancy tests.

Please crack the whip on me [emoji6]!

Me too, planning to attempt next week and nerves are kicking in I went over my fat levels today but not my protein, just in from a six mile run. Am wondering if it's worth it? I don't think I am sticking to it enough! You can do it xxforhubby we can attempt together and hopefully get lovely June bfp' s. Amelia10 are you planning on every four days or one attempt? Am opting for one attempt!

We are doing BDing every 4 days, since my DH waffles back and forth wanting another baby. I gotta keep him happy, if you know what I mean [emoji6]. Plus, I got WAY to obsessive swaying last year and cannot use opks- they stressed me out too much. I'm charting though to let me see if I Oed and how my LP length is.

My DH said, and keeps saying, he is committed to TTCing for baby #4. I'll BD whenever he wants, even if it may be less than ideal. I can't give him a DD if he isn't willing to keep trying.

To compensate, I'm really strict with the diet and exercise. I think that plus I'm still BFing a lot and I had our DS3 6mo ago helps sway pink. I hope it's enough!

So to answer, we will start BDing every 4 days about 3-4 days from now when AF ends. I geared up to O on CD12 but ended up Oing on CD24. I'm hoping that it won't be so late this next time. It's been getting earlier since I had a 43 day cycle previously and this one is a 38 day cycle.

FX for all of us!

I got a rock salt lamp a few months ago and its weird but it regulatuted my cycle and I ovulate every mth now when it's a new moon ... Strange I know!!! Hoping it all helps, but I opted for no exercise (couch potaoe) too tired with less food and running around after 3 smallies :-)

Diet has been better for me last couple of days; think it's in anticipation of being away for a few days this week! Yesterday I had first meal of sweet potato fritters with baked beans and broccoli followed by a banana and some yogurt. Second meal was humous with carrots, cucumber, tomato, pepper and rice cakes followed by "clean" caramel chocolate slice and another banana oh and a bottle of fruit cider! I then ran 6 miles.x

Hello ladies. I'm moving here from the HT forums as both our XX transfers failed to stick :-( So I'm back to swaying again. I might be out of touch with current thoughts but am aiming for LE diet at about 1800cals to start with as I lose weight drastically on LE and my BMI is about 22. Any Fav meals at the moment ladies? I've got to get my head back into where the best calories are with minimum nutrition. Plus I hear I can add in booze this time!! I've been dry for months due to going HT so I'm excited about this bit!

Any tips on the exercise as I didn't do it last time? X

Aw sorry to hear that Weezie [emoji20].

Diet wise we all seem to be loving salads, mushroom tagliatelle, couscous, and refried bean tacos (my favorite!) at the moment.

Cardio doesn't need to be intense just 60+min. Some run, some walk fast on the treadmill (TM), some use the stationary bike, some walk, it all is fine. Just start with what you think you can manage for 6 days in a row and then work from there.

I was really rooting for you and am sorry it didn't work out. I'm hoping beyond hope that you get your long awaited BFP sweetie. Huge hugs!

Hi Ladies

I've been having a rollercoaster of a time here. Thought I was pregnant, had a few symptoms, AF was 3 days late and it's rarely late, did 2 tests and they were negative, then AF arrived 2 days later. I was absolutely convinced I was pregnant, with my DS1 I did a test when AF was late and it was negative so I still thought there might have been a chance this time. So in my TWW I really slackened off with the exercise, have also been incredibly busy and fitting it in was becoming so difficult. And my diet has not been brilliant either, we have had a lot of social engagements and whilst I haven't had any red meat, I have had some chicken on a few occasions and quite a lot of fish. I haven't really had any breakfast as such, maybe then end of one of my sons toast or something, and snacking has been on and off. I have literally had no meat and only a morsel of fish since the beginning of Feb and been good with the other aspects and now we are going to try again in June and I feel like the last four months of trying so hard has been wiped out for our next attempt in these last 2 weeks. I'm annoyed with myself for letting it slide, but like Atomic said, it shouldn't have a massive effect on the last 4 months that are behind me. But I still feel like I've kind of ruined my chances.

You all seem to be doing great though, and reading your posts has made me feel more positive about things and that I need to get back on it for the next couple of weeks!

Don't worry about it Davesig4! I'm right there with you and I won't be skipping months. I'm just gonna pick myself up and start again. We never know when we will fall pregnant and just how long it will take.

I'm still in limbo land. I though AF was coming but she hasn't shown up. I'm 15dpo today and will test again on Friday. There may be a slight chance I haven't Oed yet but I doubt it according to my CM.

What are your favourite meal ideas? I am so so soon sick of eating the same foods. I eat wraps everyday. Some variation of a wrap... a wrap, a quesadilla, turn it into a pizza, I am just so sick of bread, roasted vegetables and cheese.

Please... what are some other foods you are eating? I need to be able to get full. I can't eat 7 twisters, 3 crackers, 4 TB of hummus and a piece of celery. The lack of nutrition kills me.

I think I need to add eggs or 1/2 chicken breast or something.

I think ill just stick to crystal light. Although I have started craving diet coke now. Honestly... I have probably had diet coke maybe 10 times my entire life. So i don't know how i would normally react.

My normal diet is drinking ONLY water, never ever ever pop or juices or alcohol or coffee or even tea. And for food, i don't eat much meat but i do eat high calorie salads. My fav was cucumber, tomato, chick peas, boiled egg, onion, olive oil, balsamic, maple syrup, garlic, fennel, croutons, sundries tomato etc. Or a famous salad in my house was sundries tomato tuna, quinoa, kale, black beans, tzatziki, hummus, green onion. I used to eat very healthy but tons of fats, proteins and calories. I am having a tough time eating the very foods I have tried to stay away from. Its like a mind game to me. I am going to try to bring some back. Like a salad with chick peas and an egg and feta would really satisfy me. its so hard for me to be satisfied without eating nutrient dense foods :(

I know how you feel, Nessa. The lack of nutrition also kills me. After six months on this diet I am really tired of counting protein and fat and eating the same food and tons of vegetables and rice everyday. Specially all the empty carbs and sugar is not at all my favourite. People around me comment on how thin I am and if I am sick. I really want to get my BFP now so I can start to gain weight and eat more nutritious.

what is a halloumi salad? Thank you for the ideas squigglepink

You like salads i see. Just like me. So do that then - just google salad recipe's and change them up. Not sure if you like halloumi cheese but you basically just add it to a green salad. Typically my halloumi salad is rocket, tomatoes, feta, avo, onion and then the halloumi - i drizzle balsamic or i drizzle chilli salad dressing for flavour. My husband always does a garlic or a cheese flat bread on the side because he likes a bit more than a salad for dinner. Nothing wrong with rotating your favourite meals but keeping within limits. I have not changed my food groups much. Im a vegetarian anyway so my meals are the same i just have only a lunch and a dinner and try stick to the limits. I was going a bit overboard with a chocolate with my meal but i can proudly say i have stopped that as my attempt approaches. I started LE in February and whilst i stopped snacking and breakfast almost immediately it took me a bit of time to get used to the limits of what i was eating at lunch and dinner. I only added diet coke into the mix (its not something i naturally drink) because i found it was a great help for when i felt like eating but it wasn't quite lunch time yet, so i would take sips on the diet coke throughout the day to curb my urge to snack.
For the Halloumi salad you can add in things like yellow tomatoes, orange pepper, cucumber, baby potatoes, olives etc..whatever floats your boat. Im just a cheese addict so baked Camembert and halloumi are my favs so we make a meal out of it..

I was wondering for rice and pasta are the servings measured by cooked it dry rice and pasta? The serving sizes on pasta are shockingly small. 1/2 cup of COOKED pasta. The ultimate guide to measuring pasta serving sizes (http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/1725/measuring-pasta-serving-sizes) if you google you can come up with some visualizations of what a serving of COOKED pasta looks like if you are in a country that uses a different type of measurement (in the US we use cups so it's easy for us to picture but I know other countries use other measurements). My stomach laughs at them. I can easily eat like 6 of the recommending serving size of cooked pasta. That is one of the reasons why I actually like you guys to treat pasta as a once in a while thing because pasta is really nutrient dense

S health is pretty similar to MFP and they both serve the same purpose. I just found S Health easier and everything in once place. On one screen they have all the options of measuring your stress and heart rate etc as well as coffee and water intake, your running and walking time/distance. I found it more user friendly. But less is best for me because personally i hate measuring and weighing food! I had both apps and preferred S Health out of the two. x

oh my god! I can't stop eating eggs! I am a vegetarian (normally) so, this is kind of my staple. I am finding it brutally hard to lay off the eggs. I'm 2 DPO now, I wonder if it would make a difference???

I use eggs for many, many people at a rate of 4-6 a week and they still get girls. Please just keep eating them.

There are no forbidden foods, as long as they fit in your limits for the day.

Eggs are know to sway blue, right?

No foods in and of themselves sway. It's about the TOTAL nutrient content of your diet.

The only reason I have ever warned against eggs for pink is because among some theories they have a mystical rep for swaying pink (because they contain progesterone or some such nonsense, but you do NOT get your body's supply of progetsterone by eating progesterone) and some people thought that they should eat 6-12 eggs a day for pink. Eating 6-12 eggs a day (usually along with a gallon of milk and yogurt and cran juice and a cup of tahini) WILL sway blue. Eating 4-6 eggs a week as a part of an otherwise LE Diet wil not.

So, nutshell...eggs not forbidden, stick in limits and do not treat them as magic pink foods because they aren't.

Cheese in moderation is fine for a pink sway and actually is very good on PCOS type diet (which I think you're on Queen?? or am I thinking of someone else)

I am having a hard time finding the nutrient stuff on the Daiya site so while I think they look great for a pink sway, I cannot sign off on them totally for PCOS/alt diet yet because I can't figure out how many carbs they have.

Ladies, it's limits, limits, limits, and not magic foods. the magic foods idea does not work and makes no sense anyway because you can see people all around you getting boys and girls not even thinking about "good or bad" foods.

I can't always keep up with the support threads but just happened to read this, when you guys have these type of questions please ask them in the forums and I'll come along and answer!!

Nessa84, my diet has been poor over the weekend, and am attempting this week. Today I had a cheese sandwich for lunch, ice cream about 4 and dinner was low fat vegetable curry, but on Sunday I had a four course dinner, then wine lots, chicken, nuts and cake, oh dear! X

I have taken a few days to revise my sway a bit. .

In my revision I have decided to go VEGAN for most meals. Or at least just step away from cheese lol. I've noticed that my sway is much easier for me to follow if I can eliminate cheese. Of course I'll still eat cheese I just don't want to eat it everyday and for every meal.

So instead I'm adding legumes like beans and chick peas. I find this fills me up so this works for me.

Today:
Meal #1: bun, roasted red pepper dip, roasted veggies, with a soup
Meal #2: rice, chick peas, cauliflower, butter chicken sauce, green onion with a green salad and a slice of bruschetta, glass of white wine

This works very well for me. And the cardio. I love to walk outside with my amazing stroller.

Let me mention that I went vegan for 4 months after DS was born because I was scared of eating dairy with him because I thought it would upset his newborn tummy and I was taking a break from meat since DH and his family eat an alarming quantity at every meal. I lost all my pregnancy weight in those 4 months and discovered some cool new recipes and flavours!

So I actually have an archive on my computer of vegan meals I've tried. So if anyone is interested I'd love to share! Also "oh she glows" is great for vegan meals too.

I can't wait to have.... Coconut bacon wraps! It's unsweetened coconuts flavoured with liquid smoke and hickory seasoning to appear like a bacon flavour in a tortilla with any toppings. BLT I think I'll try.

Oh! And mashed/steamed cauliflower and broccoli with pasta and Alfredo sauce!! Yummmmm! Or any sauce really.

Happy I'm feeling excited about getting back on track and wanted to share :)

Tonight we've got friends coming over for an Indian takeaway so I've had some noodles with vegetables, a pear and a few sweets for lunch. I'm planning to have a poppadom, vegetable curry, some mushroom bhaji, a chapati and plain rice for dinner. All served with wine or beer (I've not decided yet). Hopefully this will keep me on track. Hard to know with a takeaway though! Just done 30 mins cardio as I'm building up from zero!

7 carbs is not many carbs!! But then again real cheese has zero carbs, a similar amount of fat, and a nice amount of protein too. It's ok if you like it, but honestly I think you're fine to eat real cheese.

Tonight I had mushrooms, cauliflower, 1/4 cup if chick peas, 1 cup of cooked rice with 1/2 cup of Alfredo Sundried tomato sauce. I'm too full to eat my salad. Oh and a piece of bread with bruschetta.

Question...
Is 1/2 cup of cooked rice/pasta/couscous one serving? Just trying to be clear.

Also, what am I counting for cauliflower and broccoli? Just calories?

June 8th, 2016, 02:34 AM
For me, half a cup is a tiny portion but I think you have to put it into MFP and see where your totals end up. For example for 1/2 a cup it says:
Rice (white) 121cals 2g protein
Couscous 88cals 3g protein
Pasta 110cals 4g protein

So if you had a whole cup you'd be looking at 4g protein if you have rice vs 8g protein if you have pasta. Hence I go for rice more often than pasta. And if you chose a bagel instead the ones I get are 230cals and 9g protein. Not sure I've been helpful!

Thanks for the clarification about the eggs, atomic!

I'm finding it extremely hard to follow the limited part of the diet during the TWW! I am not eating super nutrient dense foods, besides eggs. But, I am going over the calorie limit, I think while on the TWW...sigh

Homemade foods - you add up ingredients and divide by serving size. may not be worth the effort at the end of it all

during 2ww, prog rises and you end up hungrier and often with less self control. This is normal and something we all struggle with. Just do your best during this part of the cycle. If you have an eating disorder and feel things are slipping out of control then just stay veg and leave it at that. :)

Food scales, I do not recommend as they add to that "control-freakishness" feeling and I just posted a long explanation of this in a food scale thread, check it out!~

Nessa84
June 10th, 2016, 05:45 PM
I needed the scale to understand what I was eating as I was WAY off just using my measuring cups and google to convert dry to cooked etc. So I am glad I have the hands on visual as now I know how to get my servings right.

So ladies, ... Matzos.... what do you do with them lol? Are they like a cracker? Do they substitute as a tortilla? This is definitely a new food item for me.

I've only used scales to weigh out things to do a visual as you say, then I guesstimate from then on with that in mind. Saves going way over and getting obsessed.

Tonight we're heading to our neighbours for a BBQ so I'm planning on having one veg burger and one veg sausage both in buns with ketchup, and a couple of glasses of vino. Today I had a Bun with sandwich spread and roasted veg and a small soup. This is my staple. I want to try eating matzo and Ive started making my own bread.

(Side note... My family is big on making breads and doughs etc (Italian family so we make pizza, pasta, sauce etc) so I had some great bonding time with my mom making this bread! I told her lets leave out the salt and she was like nope you can't it won't taste good! So I convinced her and we DID leave out the salt and by her surprise it tasted pretty good still! So now my parents are adjusting their recipe (They are health nuts!)! PS: making new recipes is a big hobby of mine (I have a background in nutrition, have a huge appetite, and am Italian). I LOVE trying to create things from scratch and adjusting recipes etc. DH says I should start blogging but I just love the creativeness I get from this! Tonight I spiralled zucchini so I can add it to my spaghetti tomorrow night! So excited to see how it goes! I think maybe because I love to experiment with recipes that makes me sway blue? Who knows.

Tonight I will have a veggie Burger with my bread, and a big salad.
Just got AF so I am not feeling the best. Hoping some wine will help.

I adore cooking too and don't tend to use recipes unless I'm baking, which I don't do often as I'm a savoury girl. I love throwing things together to see what happens. Occasionally this method fails but generally it's tasty!

I did pretty well last night. Had a veggie burger in a bun with onions and salad, potato salad and BBQ sauce. Then the host mentioned he'd also cooked veggie sausages for me so popped two on my plate!! So I had them with a hot dog bun and onions. Also nibbled a few crisps and crackers before the BBQ food. So I over-ate by a couple of hundred calories I think but my estimate is that I only just went over the fat and protein levels. Feeling bloated this morning though! Not sure those vegetarian reconstituted proteins, which I'm assuming were in the burger/sausages, agree with me!

Atomic designed the diet to be as easy as possible to stick to so nothing is banned. The negative of having dairy is it takes up a lot of your fat and protein allowance for the day, that's why it's better to get these from vegetarian sources as you get to eat more food in comparison. Does that make sense?

calcium swaying pink is a matter of debate. many of us, myself included, got BOYS while doing calcium and lots of dairy and so we have a hard time believing in it.

A high nutrient diet sways blue, so since dairy is chock full of nutrients, if you believe in calcium swaying pink (which is totally up to you, of course) it's better to take calcium supplements instead of ingesting massive amounts of dairy. you can have SOME dairy, but it's not a free food and you have to count it in your limits for the day.

Here is a short version of the LE Diet that we use here. You can blend this with the mineral diets by taking calcium in supplement form and limiting sodium. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-to-conceive-a-girl/16780-low-everything-diet-nutshell-version.html

Can you eat junk food like chocolaye/icecream /candy at night ? (At like 8pm ish) Or does it have to only be 2 meals per day? My calorie intake is around 1200-1500 per day total.

Also is gaderade (low calorie G2) bad on this diet bc of potassium and sodium.

Hi Robin,
I'm just starting out too. Welcome. You definitely don't have to do only two meals. If you're finding it really hard, do three! I think the important thing is to have drops in your blood sugar, which will happen on three meals if you're not snacking on between. I wake up at 6:30, do lunch at 11am, supper at 6:30, and a snack around 9:30.

Argh. Yesterday I was sooooo over my fat/protein totals. We went out for brunch with friends and there was nothing both vegetarian and gluten free on the menu so I had three eggs with bacon, two foods I almost never eat, but I figured one time wouldn't hurt if I had a low-fat, low-protein supper.
Supper was leftovers from a very LE-friendly bean/rice/veggie chili I'd made. But while I was busy with the baby DH warmed up my plate and grated like a POUND of cheese all over it without asking me. I had to eat it anyway since I didn't have time to make a whole new meal from scratch. Pretty sure the cheese alone was like 60g fat & protein. :/

If you can't do something to the nth degree, the solution is to cut back. People have this misconception where they can't do EVERYthing, so they do nothing. There is a huge amount of wiggle room between 4 cups of coffee and zero.

Well, every tactic you can manage will help your odds, so even if all you do is no meat, single attempt and skipping breakfast, that's still better than if you did nothing at all.

How many meals are you eating? If only two, would you maybe find it easier to stop snacking if you tried three or even four? Or could you eat something more filling at meal times?

I haven't been doing exact counts because I am a former anorexic and that will send me down a slippery slope. I could try to make each meal more filling. I have been doing 2 meals and snacks in between each, but only in the evening/night.

I have adult adhd and I take adderall sometimes which helps me do intermittent fasting, which I love! I just had dinner and no snacks at all...but I don't think adderall is safe to take a lot when TTC. I also saw that it could increase the chance of miscarriage :/

I think skipping breakfast and no meat at all are two solid sway tactics, you also have the chemical pregnancy swaying your odds of pink as well, so don't lose sight of that. There is just do much chance with it, you could get a girl easily with that sway, whereas someone else could exercise everyday, stick to two meals and get a bo. Don't stress about it, stress I think sways blue, just get a sway that you think sways pink but is something you can stick to and live with if it takes a long time to conceive if you know what I mean? You don't want to force yourself to go strict and then give up it all up because you cannot do it longer term. Remember I think the pink diet is all about decreasing fertility so it may take some months to get a bfp and therefore you might be on this lifestyle for a while.good luck!

Am back full force on the diet since a further Bfn this morning, no af as yet but need to focus on July now! Today am going to have a salad for lunch, six mile run then dinner will probably be potato and vegetables and wine, yay for Bfn I can have wine!

Hopefully Atomic will chip in but it sounds like a reasonable mix of foods to me. I find my lunch fills me up so much that I can't often fit it a snack before dinner, other than maybe a gin and tonic! So maybe you need more calories at lunch?

Here's my latest lunches:
A pack of low fat crisps, a wholegrain bagel, some low fat hummus and a huge heap of salad
A pile of new potatoes covered in a dollop of low fat mayonnaise and some spring onions, a heap of salad again, a chunk of low fat cheese, some chutney, and some crackers dipped in low fat hummus
Two low fat wraps filled with a smear of low fat mayonnaise, chopped lettuce, tomatoes, spring onions, mushrooms and peppers and either some cheddar, mozzarella or avocado, with a pack of low fat crisps.
A grilled vegetable burger (not soy protein but actual vegetables in a breadcrumb coating) in a bun or two slices of bread, with lettuce and low fat mayonnaise, and a salad.

All these really fill me up and are 500/600 calories x

Vegetarian diets alone are associated with more girls conceived anyway.

What I would do is try going to 4 meals. This is still ok and much different from all day snacking.

Chow mein noodles, pasta with homemade tomato sauce. Sometimes waffles, sometimes eggs. Corn chips. Cheese. And I've been eating sweets: ice cream, cookies. I have a terrible sweet tooth.

I am also like 20 pounds over my ideal weight :(

Most of those things burn off fast, you may have better luck focusing more on things that stick to your ribs a bit. :)

I do want to mention that the "old school" sway diets were all like, "do every. single. solitary. thing we pull out of our butts or your sway will FAIL!!" But that is not at all how the LE Diet works. You can do only a couple LE-type changes and still be swaying pink. The important thing is not what I wrote down on my computer 4 years ago, it is doing things "pinker" than you personally were when you got your boy(s)

To be honest I did not even WANT to make a diet, because I knew that people would then get too focused on the specifics and lose sight of the generalities. But you don't have to do the specifics, all you have to do is change your personal eating in a pink friendly direction.

Generalities:

Less snacking, longer time fasting than you were
Less protein, less fat than you were
More protein and fat from vegetable sources vs. animal than you were
Choosing lower nutrient options when possible and avoiding/limiting highly fortified foods
Possibly avoiding foods that are said to sway strongly blue IF YOU WANT TO

At the core, that's really all we are doing. Changing what you were doing in this general direction. All the numbers and limits and stuff are because people MADE me create a diet!! :p

It's been a tough day here in the UK with just over half of our electorate voting to leave the European Union! It's thrown me and all of my friends, really making it an unpleasant day. I've always used food as a mood changer so I've allowed myself a pizza sub, gin and tonic and my favourite pistachios as a snack. Sometimes you have to do it to stay sane. Dinner though will be homemade bean chilli and rice.

Weeziewoozles, I'm a bit stunned by the brexit! This must be a very turbulent time to live through for all the UK ladies on this forum.

I've been doing well with skipping breakfast and staying in totals every day except last Sunday, but I think I might have lost a few pounds even though I've been over 1800 cal and 50-60g fat/protein every day. I'm hoping the scale was wrong because I am already eating very large meals to meet my totals without snacking. Argh.

Af arrived, am gutted but back full force and regretting letting the diet slip during 2 ww, next 2 ww can you remind me not to do this? Today I had a salad for lunch with a slice of buttered toast. Did a six mile run and had pasta with pesto and garlic bread and glass of wine. I think am going to have to put a limit on how long I am prepared to try for, cannot face this month after month. I realise it is hormones talking and madness the idea that you would give up after one month but more in six months time I don't want to be in the same position!

I had a very stressful day today as I listed our current home for Sale. We are moving to our new house in 3 months or so... and my diet today went to crap!
At 11am I had egg whites some feta cheese and 1/2 avacado and hot sauce
Then around 3pm I had some saltine crackers .
6pm I had some roasted chicken (not alot though) and baked potato with some sour cream... and a white bun. I'm prob going to have some ice cream tonight too. I have not logged cals today... but I'll bet it was bad! Lol

The only things that are difficult for me are the fasting parts, and the less protein and less fat. Being a veggie means I have to eat a lot of fat to feel full, but, at least my protein and fat DO come from non animal sources. And the lower nutrient thing is hard too! Before I started wanting to sway, I would eat really nutrient dense foods. Variety colors of peppers, qunioa, avocado, onions, garlic, kale just every healthy, yummy thing I could think of...in one meal!

So, cheating for me would be like...a nice rice bowl with rainbow colored veggies and avocado! Haha! But, again, I don't want to mention my vegan friend, but she ate super nutrient dense veg food and she got a girl (yes, I know other things could have nudged it that way, but she leads a very boy friendly lifestyle).

All those things are FINE though. You would have to eat a MOUNTAIN of kale to get the amount of cals/fat/protein in a Big Mac, fries, and a chocolate shake.

No one ever got a boy vs. a girl because they ate some peppers. :) Rice bowl with peppers is great. Another thing to try is eating what you want to eat and then just having half of that. You cut your nutrient intake by default that way.

What about going to 4 meals though?? Would that not make it easier? Instead of snacking all day every 15 min or so, 4 meals is still an improvement.

I think you are having a combo of not really understanding what the LE Diet is (none of those things are even forbidden on LE Diet!!! there are no forbidden foods on LE) and also having the whole thing mess with your head a bit, in the way that we talked about before where you are looking for reasons not to do diet so then you start excusing yourself not to, because your vegan friend had a girl and so on. If you don't want to do the diet, that is totally fine, just make sure you're making the active decision and not giving up because it seems too complicated when it isn't. :)

Diets do mess with your head for sure. Even weight loss ones. Even those of us who are very experienced dieters (aka me, LOL) I go on a diet to lose a couple pounds and I catch myself thinking "well, I really NEED extra protein, because blahblahblah" whatever reason I come up with, but really it's because I just don't want to deprive myself of what I want to eat right then. ;)

Yesterday I had a potato & green pea potage for lunch and a rice bowl with green beans, zucchini, and mushrooms for supper. Peanut butter on white toast to up my fat/protein a bit.

DS1 (3 1/2 y.o.) looks at his rice bowl and says "can I have sauce for my quinoa?"
Me: "sweetie, that's not quinoa it's rice"
DS: "no it's not. Rice is BROWN."

I feel like I won at parenting, but it's increasingly clear why I have two boys.

We are talking nutrient dense like red meat. Sure Kale, broccoli, etc have nutrients, but you would have to eat your body weight in them to equal a hamburger. That's what Atomic was meaning. You can have any vegetable you want. The main take home message is there are NO magic foods.

Stick to 40-50g protein, 40-60g fat, 1500-1800 calories. How you get there is up to you.

Unless you're eating a ton of dairy or nuts, or an entire avocado every day, it's kind of hard to go very far over protein or fat on a vegetarian diet. If you can't count calories because it would be a trigger for you, I think you can still feel pretty good that you're probably still eating a fairly low-fat, low-protein diet on the kinds of foods you were describing. :)

weeziewoozles
June 28th, 2016, 11:30 AM
I was going to say the same, limit your cheese, nuts and avocado but otherwise go for it.

I had a cheat day on Saturday as we had a friend's party and then a date night but I did stay vegetarian. Last night I was out for Thai with friends so I had Thai crackers, a few starter bits with prawns in but then a main course of vegetables and a bit of tofu. Plus copious amounts of wine!

Unfortunately I've been really ill this morning with an upset tummy - something I ate or too much wine? Who knows?! But I lost three pounds because of it. And skipped breakfast AND lunch! :-) I finally feel like I could eat something now so have just cooked some vegetable fingers. Hopefully they'll go down ok!

Yes, exactly. Eating nothing but kale and quinoa would very likely yield a girl. The kinds of nutrients in kale just don't sway that much (if at all) when compared to the heavy hitters - cals, protein, fat, and the concentrated nutrients in fortified foods and multivitamins.

To put in historical perspective, imagine we are living in a nomadic tribe instead of getting our food in large amounts at a grocery store - subsisting on some kale and quinoa would send a very different message to a person's body than a nice hunk of bison, some honeycomb, and nuts. WE are so programmed by the media and nutritionists to think "kale = nutritious = healthy" that we never stop to even think that really it's just a handful of leaves with barely nothing in it. :) You would have to eat a Mount Everest heap of kale before you get the amount of nutrition in a griiled cheese sandwich.

Please understand, you always can do whatever you would like, but I don't have to sign off on it. If you need to snack on pickles or whatever, totally cool, your call to make. You very well may still get a girl doing that. But it isn't the best way IMVVVVHO because I think that part of what matters is that blood sugar idea, and while a pickle absolutely certainly doesn't do a whole lot (or pepper strips, or cucumbers) and certainly it's a lot better option than many things out there it's still a teensy amount of cals coming in that don't ahve to be, that could be put with a meal instead. But totallly your call to make and much better than a Snickers bar. :)

As long as you're making changes in your diet from when you got your son, that's great and it will still sway pink. Even if you don't go in LE Diet limits. All I can do is tell you what I think will optimize your chances and then you can take or leave that. Even I didn't do things "the right" way having my morning coffee with milk and sugar in it and also had that between meals on occasion. I just have to lay out what the basic tenets are and then you guys pick the stuff that is gonna work for you.

Do you have a protein/cal/fat estimate on these? They sound amazing.

A good lunch for me at the moment is two low fat wraps with a smear of low fat pesto/hummus/mayo, filled with chopped lettuce cucumber, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms. Yum and only about 350 calories so sometimes I add a little avocado or mozzarella and a packet of low fat crisps/chips of some kind.

Hey Lindz, my lasagna roll ups are basically just whatever the nutritional info is of the lasagna, cheese and sauce you use. I use a tomato sauce that is so plain there is basically nothing in it. Its a cheap sauce but I add italian spices to it. The lasagna is your typical pasta serving and the cheese you can use whatever. I think I used ricotta but I'm sure cream cheese would taste good too. You can really experiment with it. I think on average I tried to aim for 400-450cals, 15-20g protein and I'm not sure how much fat is in there. I try to save most of my cals, protein etc for dinner time. It makes the fasting much easier and rewarding knowing I can eat a bigger meal at dinner.

Lately I have been eating...

9 am: Coffee with spends

Noon: Bun with roasted vegetables and sandwich spread, and homemade soup (want to switch this out with store bought soon)

7pm: A few items here... 1) 1 cup of Rice, 1/4 cup chick peas, mushrooms, cauliflower, colourful peppers, green onion, and whatever sauce i feel like.. curry, tandoori, alfredo, tomato sauce, cream cheese. 2) baked potato with sour cream or tatziki 3) green lettuce, cucumber, 1 TB bacon bits, and Ranch dressing OR an italian dressing and a SPRINKLE of cheese.

I find this tends to run up to about 1500 cals, 40g protein, 35g of fat. So somedays I will have candy or wine too. I am not really counting anymore as I don't care to go over or under by 5g or so.

Meal replacements are chock full of added vitamins and not a good idea.

Juice fasts are also something that I am not a fan of because I don't find them to be healthy prepregnancy diet, they can delay or stop ovulation and i feel like people end up cutting back way, way too far and it's very triggering for ED. I know of some people who conceived girls during or after juice fasts (for weight loss or religious reasons) but I do not recommend them as a sway tactic.

Plus - if you think LE is hard to stick to, juice diets are hard to stick to!!!

My Friend of mine noticed that I have lost about 10 pounds and badly wanted to know HOW I lost the weight. I didn't mention anything to do with the LE diet, I just basically said Ive been watching how much protein and fat I am eating and trying to eat more salads as well as walking most days. Kept it short. Anyways, (Keep in mind she has a daughter) she said, "Oh Nessa you are so good, see my biggest problem is I don't eat ALLL DAY and then at dinner and before bed I eat cookies, cake, candy, etc, I really need to stop eating only at night and also try to start at least walking". I think I am. I am not counting calories or anything because it can stress me out. I'm trying to do a more relaxed sway. My two meals are from the 21 day menu so I'm hoping it's enough. I'm still feeling good. We will see how I feel
once I hit the gym!

I just want to vent for a second because I can't anywhere else....about LE.
I have NO problem on the diet except for the fact that I have chosen NOT to tell anyone I am on it except DH. SO we went to his parents for a BBQ and I made up an excuse why I'm not eating much protein and that I would bring my own dinner. Anyways, my MIL said okay well I can make you a green salad, I said sure I can eat that thank you. So i get there and her "green" salad was like a " 15 different bean" salad. I didn't eat it (she would have expected me to eat the whole thing if I started eating it) and I know she was pissed about it. She made me take most of it home lol since she made it for me... Ugh. So other than OTHER people, I have ZERO complaints on this diet and feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon this site!.

We put another offer on a house so so to calm my nerves I have been eating bread dipped in roasted red pepper dip haha. Its delicious and I am still within my limits!

I never used to eat salad dressing before I started LE diet but now I find it's a good way to up my fat total with unsaturated fats on a day that I'm under totals. Any creamy dressing that has canola or vegetable oil listed as a main ingredient is a good bet. Dressing, peanut butter and cheese are practically my only sources of fat since I gave up meat, lol.

Nessa, could you tell people a simplified version of the truth if that would make your life easier? That, or just have a cheat day when you see them.
I've had this problem too. My MIL is staying with us for the week. Day one she says, "let's order sushi for dinner!" I told her I thought it would take too long to arrive so we had LE leftovers instead. Then yesterday she invited her sister over for supper and wanted us to buy salmon. I told my husband, look, we've got to tell her something because she's going to wonder why we're never eating (he's gone veggie with me). He told her that we're both vegetarian because statistically they have more girls. I wasn't there for the conversation but I don't think he went into fat/protein totals or anything (in fact, I don't think he could because he tunes me out when I talk about that stuff, lol). She may think we're weird, but it's easier than worrying about what to say.

:agree: :agree: :agree: Yes that is the exact diet I see many of my blue swayers doing. Eating nothing all day and then sweets + a diet coke for dinner.

Wait...your blue swayers doing this are getting girls? Or boys???

I did terribly today. I didn't skip eating after I woke up. I had chocolate ice cream then nachos with greasy homemade corn chips, beans and cheese.

I suck at this so bad! Haha! But...I haven't had anything since then...hmm...

That's ok Lissa. Just get back on track today.

So far today:
Grande Starbucks iced coffee with cream and sugar free vanilla
Lunch: plain beagle with plain cream cheese. Cut up cucumber and cherry tomatoes to put ontop. It was so good! Then I had a mini ice cream cone.
Not sure what I'm going to make for dinner.

I just ordered my personalized sway plan so I can get the ball rolling myself. Only 2 months left until my attempt and I feel like my eating has been so boy friendly.
Yesterday was
Coffee 4 cups morning
Lunch at 11am egg whites and hot sauce with 1/2 avacado
Some light cheese with it
I snacked with Ritz crackers before dinner.
Chicken breast for dinner with soft tortillas with peppers and pineapple
Sliced cucumbers with vinager and feta and Tzakeki sauce
Late night snack was dairy Queen blizzard (icecream )
And a bowl of light salt and pepper popcorn.

Even reading this I am cringing. So bad

I started the PCOS version today so this morning I had two cups of coffee with Splenda and splash of creamer. For lunch I'm having brown rice with asparagus, salad, coconut water, brown cow yogurt, and a graham cracker with whipped p-but butter. Dinner will be wasa crisps with marinara and mozzarella, a small sweet potato, egg whites and some moscato (definitely looking forward to that). I hope we all do well on the diet and get our DD:fx:

I've had a pretty good week so far. My husband made a vegan chickpea peanut stew which is a tad high on fat and protein but can fit within limits if the rest of the day is lowish. I've been having that for lunch with a salad or rice bowl with veggies for supper the last few days.

I would drop the chocolate if you can live without it for a few months. Other than that it looks good. You don't HAVE to have pasta and rice everyday if you find yourself getting sick of it, you could have anything if you can make it fit within limits. Also I don't think it has to be wine if you don't like it. I try to drink a bit of alcohol regularly and it's often a shot of hard liquor because I find it easier than a whole glass of wine.
