Yes my boys were very happy to stay along haha, they say your cervical length determines when the baby usually arrives so the longer the length the longer they wait, good luck with your induction :)

So ive had my growth scan & babys on 95th centile! 6 lbs already at 34 weeks so est 9lbs at due date. But there was a problem spotted- i have too much fluid, deepest pool was 9.9cm . So ive to get a gtt tomoro to test for diabetes as that can cause the excess waters but if its not that then it could be a number of things. Quite worrying as theyr saying babys head can struggle to engage until all the waters go and that then risks the cord coming first & if that happens it can be fatal for baby. Not what i needed to hear

Oh man Sharon. Sorry to hear that! They can be wrong about baby size sometimes though. Hoping you don't have diabetes! Maybe they will induce you early because of it all! That would be nice! I have my first OB appointment this Thurs. We'll see how I'm measuring. I've been losing some globs of mucus over the last few days, and my BH contractions are getting pretty brutal when they hit so those are good signs for me. I would love to only have to be pregnant until 37 weeks!!! Good luck Sharon! No news from Raezodal!

Sorry for no news!! My mobile data got turned on by accident so when I got to the hospital and had no wifi, I had nothing left. :(
Brendan Micah arrived Thursday afternoon at 3:15. 7h after insertion of Foley balloon for induction. Long story short, was my shortest and easiest labour. Only hiccup was I popped a rib out of my sternum during transition. Freaked me out (and it turns out my midwife though she didn't let on at all!!) It is getting better but such mundane things as driving (shoulder checks), bending over, moving or using my arms, transitioning from lying down to sitting up, even drinking through a straw...all hurt. :(
But the exciting part! Brendan was 8lbs8oz, 21" long and 36cm head. He is absolutely beautiful. Think he was gunning for biggest and that was why he had no intention of being born (he has biggest head of my 5, but heaviest was 9lbs1oz and longest was 21.75" so he had a little ways to go...another week probably would have done it lol)
Stayed in the hospital on "vacation" as long as I could (chest pain due to rib helped justify my staying). Am home now. Brendan is nursing like a champ. Still moderately high levels of bilirubin so I have to go every day to get him checked.

they get you all put in the system your health insurance for the room, and your birth plan, and all your info so that when you show up in labour you just go up to labour and delivery and they have all your info and your epidural consent is already signed and all that. I live in ontario canada, I guess it might be different for other countries.

Hi ladies,
Just wanted to ask a question, I've been reading alot of medical studies lately about genetics and the timing of when babies are born eg: late or early that sort of thing. They say there is a strong genetic connection with women and their mothers, sisters and fathers mother when they had their babies I'm curious what are your thoughts? I know with myself my mother had all 3 children around 41+ weeks and I myself have had 2 at 41+, my partners mother also had her children closer to 42 weeks and so on. Anyone else have similar in their families?

January 28th, 2017, 06:12 AM
My mum was induced after 41 weeks with my brother, next I was born at 42 weeks (mum refused induction) then my sister was born at 32 weeks.
Comparing to me, my first was born at 40+1 (but I was induced) then my 2nd was born at 39+4. I was expecting to go over with my 2nd since mum had most of us late term so it was a surprise he came before 40.
I'm not sure about my MIL but 2 out of 3 of her pregnancies were twins so hard to compare anyway.

Hi :) This is an interesting question, so thought I'd comment too if that's ok?..
I'm the reverse of my mum. She delivered her DS1 a week early, DD (me) 2 weeks early, and DS2 4 weeks early!
I had DS1 at 36 weeks, DS2 at 38 weeks, DS3 at 39+6 and DS4 at 40+4 weeks...
I'm a bit scared at how long I'll carry DD for lol.
However, neither one of us got stretch marks on our tummy so I can thank her genes for that ;)

The women in my moms side of the family usually have their babies before 40 weeks. My mom had my brother on her due date, and me 3 weeks early (but she thinks it was really closer to 2 weeks early) Ive had my first 2 days early, and my other 2 about 2 weeks early but that was with stretch and sweeps, walking, bouncing etc to try and keep labour going when the contractions started. I think I would have had them closer to the 40 weeks without that but was so ready to be done. My second was 7 lb 7 oz and just over 2 weeks early, my 3rd was 7 lbs and 2 weeks early.

My mom had 4 kids: #1 & #3 were 2 weeks early. #2 & #4 were due date babies.
Only similarity with mine...is a pattern! #1 for me was 3 weeks late (refused induction), #3 was 4 days late, #5 was 9 days late (induced). #2 & #4 were born 4 days early.

Also ladies can I ask, has anyone refused induction as a gestional diabetic? I had an appointment today and I'm a diet controlled and not on any meds for it but the doctor seemed to think they would induce me the week of my due date, I kept saying no I'm not happy with that and he ignored me, I'm just curious if anyone else had this and how they dealt with it especially as there is no given reason to do it.

My friend negotiated her induction to be later when she had GD. I think they wanted to do it around her due date but she said she wanted to wait until 10 days over. He ended up coming a day or two before the induction.
You don't have to consent to anything you are not comfortable with. It sounds like the Dr was very rude dismissing you like that.

Hi, just jumping on to say that the reason for induction at term with gestational diabetes is the increased risk of still birth; my friend is a midwife and I was talking to her about it as another mutual friend has GD. I hope baby comes along before due date for you x

I just read this : he World Health Organization states this evidence for induction before 41 weeks’ gestation is weak, and induction before 41 weeks should not be suggested if gestational diabetes is the only medical issue. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines for gestational diabetes also do not recommend induction of labour before 39 weeks for women with well controlled GD. The evidence for induction of labour is neither strong, nor clear. A recent review looking at the evidence supporting indications for induction concluded there wasn’t strong enough evidence for induction of women with gestational diabetes. - See more at: Gestational Diabetes and Induction Of Labour - What You Should Know | BellyBelly (http://www.bellybelly.com.au/birth/gestational-diabetes-induction-labour-know/)
So fingers crossed I progress naturally and that I don't need any induction as there is no medical issues at present, I've just been travelling for like 24 hour on train and driving so I'm feeling pretty tired atm lols. On a good note I'm getting a lot of pressure and have an ultrasound on Tuesday to check the weight and all that so I definitely am feeling these last few weeks he he.

Good luck. Hope you don't need the induction if that's not what you want. I'm feeling like my body is gearing up to have this baby. Just lots of period cramp type contractions, more intense than before. Pressure down below, all that fun stuff. Hoping for a quick and safe delivery but time enough to get an epidural. :)

Thank you purple :) yes I really don't want an induction as I'm really wanting to give birth in a birth centre here attached to the hospital and they have strict criteria to be able to, one being induction they don't do inductions there so I'm hoping and praying my body goes into labour by itself so I can birth there, it's an amazing place and so comfortable and big nothing like what I've had in the past, I really want a water birth which I was denied previous two occasions hence why I'm so gun ho on giving birth there so I can have all the things I've been dreaming of for a very long time, or well at least to have a go at it lols :)

good luck! I hope you get your water birth! I'm still hanging in there. I feeling pretty miserable at the end of this pregnancy. Just ready for it to be over. I know newborns are difficult as well, but it really feels like my body is saying it's done. I have my next OB appt on Thursday and she said she'll do the stretch and sweep so I'm super hoping that works! :)
Good luck with your stretch and sweep :) I had that with my first born and he came 48 hours later and I did have one also with my last but he didn't budge lols

That's great news Sharon that things have leveled off a bit. And end is site for you! Thanks for the well wishes. I had some crazy lower back pain for a few hrs last night and was starting to think that i was in early labour but then it went away. I had leg and hip and joint pain too....took a tylenol after a few hrs. All my fingers are crossed that this sweep works!

My first came about 7 hrs after the sweep (but he was 2 days from being 40 weeks) my other 2 it was my second sweep that worked and it took about 6-7 hrs to kick in to full on labour contractions...we'll see this time!!

Ive never had a sweep b4 so not sure what to expect. But even if it doesnt put me into labour ill be gettin induced a cupla days later anyway
Hope urs works on thursday! Why they doin it so early is that standard where your from ? Here they wont usually do it b4 40 weeks unless theres a reason to

Not sure what is standard here or not. I think they'll do it after 37 weeks as long as your already dilated etc. They say it doesn't really work unless baby and body is really ready anyways. If done at 37, 38, 39 etc the likelihood of going overdue and needing an induction is greatly reduced so maybe that's why they do it? Im sure they offer it and then if the woman says no they dont do it. I've just always said yes.

were they all close to 40 weeks BR?
Wow br ur 3rd was loads lighter ? Was he/she early x

Sorry for the delay... the app hasnt been working my end.
1st was born 38 weeks 2nd 39 weeks 3rd 38 weeks and scarlett 38 weeks.
I didnt know when i conceived my 1st. So just went by dates given by the 1st scan which was at 26 weeks which could have been wrong. I think this is especially the case with my 2nd. By lmp and implantation bleed i worked out i should have been nearly 10 weeks. I had some cramping a few days later so went for an early scan they said they couldnt find baby so put my dates back 5 weeks. I really feel now knowing more and with him being my biggest i think he was a slow grower at the start and in fact could have been over due.
How is everyone??? And those beautiful babies???

Thank you purple :) yes I really don't want an induction as I'm really wanting to give birth in a birth centre here attached to the hospital and they have strict criteria to be able to, one being induction they don't do inductions there so I'm hoping and praying my body goes into labour by itself so I can birth there, it's an amazing place and so comfortable and big nothing like what I've had in the past, I really want a water birth which I was denied previous two occasions hence why I'm so gun ho on giving birth there so I can have all the things I've been dreaming of for a very long time, or well at least to have a go at it lols :)
I understand completely! I was hoping for a birth centre birth with my first but had to be induced due to mild pre eclampsia at 40wks. I had a great birth in the labour and delivery ward but it wasn't what I really wanted.
With my 2nd I wanted to avoid all the hospital policies completely so I hired my own independent midwife and birthed at home.
Unfortunately my midwife cannot practice anymore and there are only 3 IMs in Adelaide so my only option this time is using the hospital system again but my hospital now offers homebirth. I have a great midwife but am still bound by hospital policy.
If you aren't already a member I know there is a Natural Hospital Birthing group on Facebook. I'm not a member but it is often mentioned in the Homebirth Australia group I am in. They will probably have great advice on navigating the hospital system to get the birth you want.

No luck with the sweep yesterday. I had some cramps and a few contractions but nothing picked up....I tried walking for a bit but I'm so lazy and tired with this pregnancy I needed a nap. lol....I've noticed quite a bit of reduced movement from the baby over the last few days so I think room is getting cramped in there.

Have you tried acupressure, this helps to get the cervix more favourable especially if still high and also helps to bring on labour if the cervix is ready I'm going to be trying to do this next week

Hello everyone. I endded up having a spinal leak with is really rare. 1 in 500. yesterday made the tough decision to go back and have another epidural only this time they inject my own sterile blood to patch the hole at the site of hte epidural. Scary but it worked! I cured! Migraines are gone and i can now walk around again! So scary. It's been a dream come true these last few days. Words cant describe it! Here is my little Fawnie! My biggest baby! born 2 weeks early! But still soooo tiny. It's not letting my add the image. will try again later. file might be too large!

I can't get over my husband though.....having a daughter has been more different to him that he knew. He can't put her down and helps SO much. With my sons I did nearly everything and had to ask ask ask for help all the time. He's Super involved this time and is insanely protective over her. So great! It'll be hard when it comes time to discipline her I bet! He wont be able to!

Looks like I'm the only one left [emoji17] I'm so jealous! Hoping there's at least a few more ladies left? No?[emoji5]
But I kinda knew this would happen as I've never delivered early/on time before, runs in the family.[emoji41]
So here I'm at 41w 1d today, had the sweep last Wednesday did give me some strong contractions that lasted for about 2 hours.
Also I've been trying almost every 'natural' method of inducing labour except for castor oil, heard enough horror stories about it and in most cases of it not working, so not worth it. And the least I got out of all these things were only some strong BH! [emoji15]
Got another sweep today, so far nothing seems to be happening and I'm only 2cm and cervix not soft enough to get my waters broken as a form of induction, so I got booked to be induced on Saturday with Propess (fun stuff!).
And to make matters worse, my nausea is back full on!
On the bright side, kids are off school this week as it's helping me keep things off my mind a bit. [emoji6]

I had to stop pumping a few weeks ago and had a difficult time switching to formula, she finally doing good on formula. I really wanted to start breastfeeding again, but I'm not sure it's going to work out. It was so time consuming plus she wasn't having a good latch at times, so I mostly pumped and had very bad pain from it which lead me to give up . The pain was very bad, but I'm glad she doing better now and drinking. I miss this group

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their bundle (s) of joy!
It's gone quiet in here.
Guess everyone's waiting for an update on me?
Well, had my little girl last Sunday the 26th of February at 6pm weighing only 7lbs 10oz, 50cm long and head measuring 34cm which makes her my smallest child in every measurement even at 12 days over due! Well, she certainly is a lady! Oh, and was my easiest and shortest labour!
Long story short, I was supposed to go in for induction on Saturday but my youngest son got a tummy bug, so decided not to go. But when I went to the hospital the next morning I was told that I don't need the Propess as cervix was soft and I was 3cm and baby's head was very low and I only need my waters to be broken to get things moving. So, got my waters broken at 2pm, about an hour or so later I got some regular contractions but not strong enough to dilate, so agreed to get the drip at the lowest setting and soon enough things started progressing, also I was so tempted to get the epidural but managed fine with just gas and air, about another hour or so has passed then I was ready to push, and out she came in to the world with only 3 pushes!
Hope I can upload a pic

Hope I can upload a pic

Hi ladies hope everyone and their babies are doing well! Elena is now 7 months old! She needs a doc band and is getting it early next week. I wasn't for it at the start now I'm anxious and happy I am getting it for her. She has a flat head and also wider. Nothing major but she is in need of the helmet. I am so glad she gotten the doc band it's more open and less weight and we will be decorating it. Just is awful being its summer! She is my best friend . My older daughter loves her so do my boys! 36814
