What do they say about time it takes to conceive? All 5 of mine we literally conceived after 1 night. Hence why i think this one is also a boy nothing was really done differently...my hubby has already said if its a girl I won't be able to stop him shopping for girls things lol...it would prob makes us poor lol with us both doing it

I think they say if it happens instantly it's a boy, not sure of the science behind it.
Probably because the body is healthy, which sways boy.
We will be so broke if we get our girls All Blue lol

When you say instantly do you mean within the first / second cycle?
I fell preg with DS1 on 3rd cycle and fell preg with DS2 on 1st cycle - (6 months after a D and C). My friend however, tried for ages for a child and was on clomid and lost it, she then went off clomid and tried for almost 8 months and had a son. My bestie who recently had her daughter (3rd child after 2 boys) fell pregnant within first month of trying..
I have read though about good fertility = boy and conceiving fairly quickly = boy :)
Good luck guys with your pregnancies and i hope you get your desired gender!! xx :)

I think it's an iffy theory, as even in a healthy woman they say it's only a 1 in 4 chance every cycle of conception.
But hey I'd love it to be true, took 4 or 5 cycles with this one ;)

Hi Mummy. If you are 14 weeks a scan can reveal gender by now. Aren't you curious to know? I admire your patience.
Well I had one at 17 weeks with my last pregnancy due to bleeding, and the tech couldn't tell for sure and basically gave me false hope for girl... Had another one done at 18 weeks and there was no mistaking the boys bits lol. I would rather not get disappointed again so I'll just wait til the morphology scan and find out for sure

Gosh, hadn't considered that could happen.
How horrible for you to think it was a girl and then get let down.
Thanks for sharing, as I really did think it was a dead cert at 16 weeks, but might book in for 18 instead now to be sure sure.

Oh no Kc. I am very sorry about your loss. It is so cruel. You have not ruined your chances. I also had a MC at around week 9, where I had been eating normal for 1 month. When I knew where it was going I picked up diet and cardio again and two months later I fell pregnant again - with a girl. So don't loose hope. You can do it.

I had a private scan at 15wks which showed girl but I was still doubting it until the 20wk scan (ok.. I still doubt it now so probably won't believe it until she is born :) )
The place I went to was Fetal Fotos and they have Sydney, Adelaide and Perth locations. There were about 4 or 5 other places I could have gone to in Adelaide so it is likely you will have somewhere near you too (unless you are in a rural area).

Is there anyone else that just doesn't want to tell people your pregnant? I like it being a secret and I have no desire to tell anyone else. We still haven't told my mom or hubby's parents, haven't told anyone at work or any extended family. Only 5 people know including one of my older sisters and now this week my little sister. I told her for her 21st birthday present because 6 months ago she told me all she wanted was a niece or nephew for her bday.
It was fun telling those 5 people but hubby wants to tell everyone else and do social media announcement on xmas and I am having anxiety about it. I like it that no one really knows. If I didn't think my tummy would give it away, I would wait many more months, but I know that is not possible. 13w1d today.

So I've had a little cry, and then spoke to my husband.
He was naturally dissapointed as he already has sons from his previous marriage, but he reminded me of why I married him - he makes everything better.
He gave me a big hug, we talked it through, and then made dinner reservations at our favourite restaurant.
I think the worry of having a failed sway, was that somehow I would let him down as I know he is desperate for a daughter.
He says we'll sway harder next time, which made me feel great that there will be a next time.
I also remembered my devastation at losing our last baby, and the losses of so many lovely ladies on this thread too.
At the end of the day whatever the gender, we're all blessed
Girliecat - I have been feeling the same way as you.

Sparkles i do think i see the shadow of the nub behind your baby's leg and it does look very stacky which would mean boy. So my lean is boy. I am so sorry for even the slight disappointment because i know it hurts, and its wonderful you are able to look at the situation from such a positive point of view knowing deep down you just wanted a healthy and happy baby to snuggle. Yep. We didn't want to tell anyone til I was much further along. However, my mum was one of the first to know and she would've blabbed to everyone and his dog despite me saying to keep it a secret. Plus, there's some Facebook mum's who my kids go to school with and I didn't want anyone letting slip on Facebook before I had a chance to announce first. I did it at 11 weeks, as being #5 I was showing very early, no chance keeping it a secret as it was pretty obvious lol. I think we will keep the gender a secret til birth for once, but I'm sure my mum will tell everyone..she'll have to know otherwise she'll make my life a living hell!

I keep referring to Bub as a boy but only because I've come to expect it...everyone I know is having or have had girls without even trying :( A friend keeps sending me pics of her daughter almost daily and I just want to burst into tears. Girliecat I don't think we will have the private scan now. (edited to say: I cancelled the scan)
Although we're going to continue with the pregnancy (unless yesterday's tests pick up fatal abnormalities like Edwards). The excitement factor of scans has definitely gone for us both.
Next one is at 20 weeks so in February.
Mummyof4 My mum is the same ! Well actually she's probably worse lol
She booked us a 3D scan at xmas so she can go, but I told her yesterday we don't want it.
I know she'd expect to keep the pictures, and then go around telling the whole family lol.
And I know cos as soon as I saw the nub on the screen, I said that's a boy isn't it
The tech smiled and said she was only looking for abnormal nuchal fold. But her face said it all
And everyone on here has said boy from my scan pics.

Sparkles, I am so sorry. I read your GD post and I know you are struggling right now. I don't read ultrasound pics well so it is hard for me to believe it is for sure a boy unless a tech who was only looking for gender confirmed it. I am not trying to get your hopes up, but I think if it were me I would need more confirmation so I wasn't full of doubt. Waiting till Feb/20w is a long time. Maybe you will feel ready early in the new year for a private scan. I completely understand not wanting to do the scan with your mom though. Did you tell your mom you think it is a boy? Does she know you wanted a girl?

I am so sorry for your loss KC! I love your outlook and sounds like you have a very supportive husband! Good luck in the future!
Sparkles, with DD3 I got loads of boy guess on her nub at 13+5... She is all girl. I agree with girlie cat, it may help ease you to have further confirmation. But, I know how gender disappointment is and it takes over. Sending you lots of love!
Mommyof4, this is me trying to wait to announce our pregnancy. My belly is getting crazy, thank goodness it's chilly and I can get away with large sweaters!
Girlie, I feel the same way. Which is why I booked the scan for next week. I want to announce if it's a boy at the same time we announce so people wont be rude... because people are... and if it's a girl, I am not sure what we'll do but probably announce together and make sure people aren't rude that way either. I would love to just keep it to ourselves... When I tell people at work, they'll know I am probably not coming back after I have the baby and then I'll have to hear it (I just started in the beginning of Sept). We will have 3, 3 and under at home and I can't pay a sitter to watch the kiddos.
We also agreed on some names. Our kids are Gavin, Madilyn-Jo, Gracelyn, and Emmalyn. So if it's a girl she'll be Gwendolyn Stacy (like from Spiderman). And boy names are Lincoln Maverick or Conner Logan. The middle names are still up for debate. But we have a -in theme with their names so most likely Lincoln will win.

Physically ok, but mentally exhausted & very emotional. I hope the hormones settle & I can have a few days without tears soon. I just need time & I want it to hurry up! Ive started back on the LE diet already. Part of me doesnt mind so much, but I guess its just the preplanning that I dont like so I know I have enough potassium & kj in my day. Otherwise I would come well under both minimums if I just ate what I thought & that wouldnt be good or me or trying for another pregnancy.

Is it helping having the LE to occupy you ?
It's such an involved and all consuming thing, that it really helped me take my mind off my loss last time...well as much as anything can.
The tears do stop, weeks after I would still excuse myself and go the loo and have a little cry at work, other times they would just flow wherever I was.
Hormones still swimming around will do that, and of course the indescribable pain of a loss - there really are no words to describe that feeling.
I will be cheering youn on, and I really hope that you get a sticky bean soon <3

I dont want to obsess over the LE at all so just not wanting to get too crazy planning etc. Getting back into it has been easier than I thought. I really never got back into snacking all the time like I used too & I realised that I didnt miss meat as much as I thought I did. Im just over eating the same type of foods all the time. At least is summer now & there are a lot of different types of stone fruit available to eat which will help give me a bit of variety in my diet. I really do wonder if I was on the LE diet too long (40 weeks) & that contributed to the m/c. As much as I am disappointed by eating more "boy" & putting on 5kg in the past 5 weeks maybe it will be the break that my body needed. for a successful pregnancy

I really don't think it is anything you did, most of the time it really is due to something being not quite right with the bean.
I remember the nurse telling me that the 1 in 4 pregnancies end in mc, was something she really questioned, and that it in her mind is closer to 2 in 4, and women go on to have healthy pregnancies after mc.
Don't be disappointed in eating more boy, you have to get yourself back to a fighting place.

Bre- so happy you found the heartbeat on the Doppler. I have found it right off the bat a couple times, but one day I had a really hard time. It is reassuring to be able to check baby.

Bre & GirlieCat -How often do you use the doppler, I am thinking of borrowing one from a friend.
And I feel a lot better thank you GirlieCat, I won't let the sadness stop me enjoying the pregnancy - if he's anything like my husband he will be really amazing.

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better- emotionally. I think hormones play a huge part and we forget that. I have been having a lot of depressed days lately which is shocking me. Holiday stress and announcing pregnancy is probably not helping.
I just borrowed my Doppler about a week ago and used it about 3 times. I am guessing I will use it about 2 times a week at least till I can feel baby move. My sister asked to hear baby once so one time was for her. I think it is fun and helps bring me peace of mind. I don't think I would have bought it myself, but if you can borrow one, I would definitely suggest it. I think it will help you bond with baby too.

Oh Sparkles, I read your post in the other DD forum and I laughed because I am the opposite. I am having a hard time with girl names but I have plenty of boy names that I have loved for a while. If baby was a boy I think he would already be named. I think DH and I will take a long time to name baby girl.

I am glad you are feeling better as well, Sparkles.
I got my doppler with DD2 when I was about 28wks, and checked about every 2 weeks- it was a good thing I did it's how I suspected she was late term breech. I just caught babes heartbeat this pregnancy, and don't have a lot of extra time, so ... i'll check whenever I get the time too, haha. I know it's an old wives tale, but the heartbeat gave me lil hope for blue. My girls at this age were NEVER under 160bpm but my son at 12-13wks was at 140bpm. DD2 was even in the 180s around this time.

It was meant to say 'thank you', when I type on my phone I make so many mistakes.

Have you got anything special planned ?

If you have anyone that might react in a funny way hide a video recorder lol.
As far as the Doppler, my friend bought hers on eBay.
I'm not sure which shops might do them, maybe babies r us (in the Us), or mothercare (Uk)

Probable won't do cloth again. Maybe prefolds with a cover for the first few weeks, but I've never had any luck using cloth nappies. They always leak! Tried so many different brands over the years and I'm lucky to get an hour out of them then they leak. However, it could just be that my boys are huge eaters and are on the breast constantly lol.

AllBlue and bre_cooper: So exited for you. Crossing my fingers for good news.
I went for a private gender scan yesterday together with my 3 boys. Although we already know it's a girl, I just wanted to enjoy the moment to see the baby again and give the same experience to my boys. The scanning-lady goes: Are you ready for a 4th boy and I am like: Yes, bring it on. And in a few seconds she says: Congratulations. It's a girl, no doubt about that, and we all try to look surprised. What a beautiful moment for both I and the boys. They now realise for sure that they are going to have a sister. They call her 'our baby' and constantly come up with funny girl names.
After the scan I took the boys to a restaurant to celebrate.

With this pregnancy I dreamt it was a girl a week before I found out via Harmony test, and in the dream my baby had cromonosomal abnormalites like Downs - not a very nice dream. With my #3 boy I had a dream about him when he was still in my womb. In the dream he was a Chinese boat refugee and a very very kind and loverable person. He said thank you so much because you let me become a part of your family. This dream conviced me that he was such a lovely and kind little person. And this is true. From the moment he was born he and I bonded very well and he is still my precios jewel. Don't get me wrong: I also love my other two to bits. I just think that it was like the dream helped me know him better from even before he was born.

Do you pregnant ladies take extra vit. D beside the amount in your prenatal?
And do you ladies with succesfull sways tell other people how you got your DG or do you keep it secret? I tell far and wide about the theory behind blue and pink sways and I say that if they know someone who seriously wants a certain gender they should for sure try this diet.

The day before I had my last scan I dreamt this baby was a girl, and I was watching her grow up in my dream.

Dreamsister- glad to hear your scan confirmed girl and how sweet it was for your boys. That little girl is going to be well protected. I love my older brothers- it is a special bond.
I just started taking extra D vitamin this week because of that autism study that was all over the news. My prenatal had the minimum, just like the article said, so I figure it couldn't hurt to take extra.
Regarding dreams- I have some very crazy dreams but it concerns me a bit because I don't dream about the baby. I dream about pregnancy or talking to people about the baby but I haven't had a dream where I see the baby. I think the reality that she will someday be out and be my daughter is still surreal to me and maybe my dreams reflect that.

14w0d today- Officially in the second trimester regardless of what app or book you read (some said 12 or 13, but popular ones say 14). We still haven't told parents, most siblings and family or work. I decided not to announce it on xmas day. I think it would be too stressful to do it in a large group since my side of the family is big. I will tell my mom before New Years and then the rest of the family. I seriously have zero desire to tell anyone else.
I know it is okay by everything you read, but I am a bit concerned because I haven't gained any weight. I have a very small appetite and hardly drink any water (I am trying). I hope baby is okay and still growing okay. My tummy is bigger but not that much, I still wear my normal pants, but they are tighter. Hate that my next scheduled scan is not till 20 weeks. Might go for a private around 16w. How is everyone else's weight gain?

Bear in mind the babies in 3rd world countries, they come out healthy despite of their environment etc its only once they are out they go downhill. Your baby will be fine regardless of what u eat etc, it would be u who might suffer baby takes everything they need at the detriment of their mums sometimes x

I eat a lot - some cake and juices but mostly healthy food. If I don't eat I will get servere nausea. I also drink about 2-3 liter of water everyday.

Just jumping onto this board. I have some serious nausea going on this pregnancy so I'm pretty much doing nothing but scouring the internet for ways to kill time while my boys watch TV for the millionth hour. I'm having major mom guilt.
I did start taking extra D because I have a history of Gestational diabetes and extra D is said to be helpful to prevent it again. I also heard of the autism study but that wasn't a huge factor. I'm taking about 4K now.
As for weight gain, especially with your first pregnancy I think there's not much to be concerned with not showing yet or having gained much. In fact technically you are only supposed to gain about 4-7 lbs in first trimester. That has never been me...I'm more like a lb a week, but all medical documentation says less in 1st trimester.
MrsSparkles
December 21st, 2016, 12:35 PM
Girlie - don't worry about the weight gain, as long as baby is growing thats all that matters.
My friend lost 14 lbs in her first trimester, and when she had the baby she had only put 13lbs back on....and baby was a 8lber, and healthy as anything !
I do understand not wanting to tell anyone.
DH and I have had this conversation today, he thinks it's 'weird' that I don't want to tell our friends.
I'm just not interested in being made a fuss of, or getting unsolicited advice.
4 people know, and they annoy me on a daily basis asking 'how is the baby' !
Bre - Is it your scan today ?

At my last apt at 11-12wks, I had lost 3lbs, but my diet had reverted to LE a bit. After that, I just kept eating... haha. I am sure I'm up a few lbs now! I am showing a bit but wearing a lot of bit sweaters! haha
We still haven't told anyone, except my mom & my husbands best friend (he was visiting at Thanksgiving). We will see what we decide after our scan today or how we will do it. I am praying we hear blue, how my son would react to know he would have a brother would be the best Christmas present. My girls would love another sister, too, haha! Having a healthy baby is seriously the best gift!

We used up the one pack of sposies the hospital gave us, but then we went right into cloth.
We use GroVia pretty much exclusively, I banked on them because I love the quality and felt good about supporting the company. A lot of people say "buy a few of a bunch of different brands, try them all, and then decide what you like best and buy more of those." I wondered, who has the time (and $) for that?! And then what would you do with the ones you DIDN'T like? I suppose there was a chance we wouldn't like the Grovias but they're so adjustable and customizable that I felt pretty confident.
He was in their newborn AIOs for 6 weeks, then since then he's been in their Hybrid AI2s with snap shells and organic cotton inserts. We do their ONEs at night (they're super ultra absorbent so perfect for nighttime).
SmartBottoms and LaLaBye are two other brands I often hear good things about.

Congrats on your dd dreamsister, that is fantastic that your boys are so excited.
I started taking extra vit d once I got my blood tests back from my gp. I had low vit d levels with my first pregnancy and as they are on the low side of normal now and I am still breastfeeding DS a little I wanted to built my vit d levels up. I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy and wonder if that had anything to do with it as I am otherwise fairly fit and healthy and my dr was really surprised by the gestational diabetes diagnosis. I am hoping I don't have to deal with that again this pregnancy
I will have a scan at 8 weeks (9 th jan). I am eager to see bub and hear a heart beat so I know everything is going ok. DH is worried there might be something wrong with the baby as we both had colds around the time I conceived. I hope everything is ok. All day nausea started yesterday (a week or two earlier than last pregnancy). Forgot how awful it feels. Hoping all you ladies heading into your 2nd trimesters start to feel a little better now.
Can't wait to hear how your scan goes bre, fingers crossed you hear blue!

I just know I will love this bub from the moment I lay eyes on it regardless of if it is a boy or girl and I don't know that I want to deal with the disappointment if I find out early that I am not getting my dd

Awesome going to have a look at them !
I love the look of the Little Lamb ones, the idea of a baby in furry cream ones is too much cuteness hahahah

Boy sways have not gotten great results lately and are more rare so it is thrilling to see that we already have two successful boy sways in this group. Congratulations Bre!!

We cloth diapered our boys as well but I actually also used grovia and didn't like them. All the elastic gussets and Velcro wore out after DS1 so I had to buy all new covers for DS2 (since the inserts were fine, I didn't want to buy a whole new brand when I already had a partial set). I really thought for the money you put into cloth diapering you should be able to use them for more than one child. I also find grovia leaks often. I have some bamboozles as well and they never leak and have held up better.

Congrats on your boy Bre!!
I used cloth with my boys, more so with my first as I got a bit lazy the 2nd time. I'm planning to do it again and have some old ones still but some elastic needs fixing.
I bought a whole big pack of Itti bittis (Australian brand) with DS1 but they didn't suit him as I think they are a bit squishy on boy bits. I ended up selling them. I remember liking the bum genius one size pockets although the elastic has gone on them but I think the newer ones are better. I also bought a few new ones from ebay that are china cheapies, I'm not sure how they will go but some people have success with them and it will just pad out the existing ones I have.

Sparkles- my hubby thinks it is weird too, that I don't want to tell. The unsolicited advice is definitely on my list of reasons why I don't want to tell. I know what people say will annoy me- mainly those closer to me like my mom and sister. I also don't want to hear "I knew it"...I think that is the rudest thing to say when someone announces their pregnancy. I know my mom will say something like that because she has thought I was pregnant non stop for the last ten years.
The few I have told have all annoyed me at some point too.

I support whatever a woman decides is right for her, but personally I could never wait. I had to know asap so very thankful for early blood testing. I am too much of a planner and gender neutral stuff is harder to find. For me, I would have needed the time to deal with my gender disappointment before baby because I would be afraid I wouldn't be as happy at birth or more prone to depression if it wasn't my DD. I think it depends on the depth of your gender desire or how you think you will react.

My prenatal only has 400IU of D2. I added 5000IU of D3 because I already had some. I read 4000 is the recommended but you can go all the way to 10,000 before it is unsafe. I will talk to my doc about it on next visit

I've found out with the last 4 but wasn't going to with this one, partly because I thought people won't hassle me about having 5boys etc if I say we are waiting and also I thought once the baby is born and I fall in love I won't care what gender it is...but..my boys are all adamant its a girl so we are finding out mainly for them so they can prepare for another brother and not be disappointed when its born. I've also felt different this pregnancy with not knowing what baby is yet, I definitely Bond more once I know...only 2 days til the big scan for me!

I'm really struggling with how to parent this pregnancy while feeling so terrible. I physically feel awful but also mentally I've convinced myself this is another boy...which is ok and I'll manage...but it makes me more sad than anything. My first pregnancy I actually had perinatal depression, not postpartum, and I think the reason I'm not fully blown depressed is because I can't let myself be with a 3 and 1 yr old. But man I just feel so down and silly for feeling down. I honestly don't have an inkling what gender this baby is...a few weeks and the blood test will tell, but I am mentally convincing myself it's a boy to keep away disappointment. Anyone else feel like this with your pregnancies? I'm failing as a mom to my boys and hate myself for that. They watch more tv than is healthy because I'm just so tired and nauseous. This is such a different pregnancy for me. Too bad that doesn't give you a clue to gender.
Also I have a tilted uterus and have terrible back pain this pregnancy. Do any of you have this? I am so paranoid that every ache is a miscarriage but the reality is I think it's my retroverted uterus.?

Ah yes, I had heard people say that the velcro's stickiness does not last, so we went with the snap shells instead. Not sure about elastics, as we're two years in and they're looking good, but my son does have somewhat skinny legs. :) I haven't heard of Bamboozles, will have to look into them out of curiosity!

Don't be so hard on yourself please.
The more you worry, the further you might sink into depression.
So many times I ask myself how women with kids manage pregnancy, it is so hard just on it's own - let alone when having to care for toddlers.
I admire you so much, and I am sure all the first time Mums on this thread would agree.
It sounds like you have a lot more to deal with, so please be kind to yourself.
You are not failing, so they watch a little more TV than usual for a few months, it's not the end of the world !

I heard the same, although the nappy lady has advised me to use either - Bambinex Bamboo (which I think has velcro)
or Bumgenius Elemental (I think these have snaps)
Oh also they sell the Velcro refreshers https://www.thenappylady.co.uk/pocket-nappies/bumgenius-velcro-refresher-kit.html
It says it works for other brands.

Thanks Sparkles. I just needed some words of encouragement and you gave them to me so I appreciate it. DS #1 has a fever today out of nowhere so adding that to the list of this week. I'm hoping this is just an off week because I'm at the peak of morning (all day) sickness and no school so I don't get a break. I'm going to try to be more positive tomorrow because it is the holidays. And things could be so much worse than extra TV. Their brains won't fully rot

Glad you're feeling a bit better.
Arghh so annoying about him getting poorly, my friends son and husband are ill, and her oven and dishwasher broke yesterday.
We were laughing saying it could only happen right before Christmas Day !
Is he ill with a cold/flu type thing ?
I use 5000 mg of vitamin C as soon as I get ill, it seems to make it last not as long.
Not sure what the max dosage for kids is, but maybe if you used it from food ?
Say a clementine every few hours it might do the same thing.
Not sure what else to suggest, I am not very up on how to treat poorly children - better learn soon though with this bean on the way lol

Hello All, hope your holiday was good. We did not tell family about baby on Christmas. My little sister got engaged on xmas eve and was announcing on xmas plus my mom had a huge surprise for my little bro (bought him a car) so it felt like there was too much else going on and it would have stressed me out too much. We will announce within the next week or so. I keep laughing at the thought that I will be 15 weeks before our parents and family/friends find out. My sister told me there was no way I could go that long but my bump has stayed small enough that it is hideable still. Now it almost feels like a challenge.

Sparkles, I haven't felt baby yet. Have you? I felt something a bit different, maybe a flutter but I just told myself it was my digestive track and not baby. Are you going to tell the family you are staying with?
We talked about telling facebook on New Year's day or the 2nd but need to tell my mom and DH parents in person first and we won't see them on NYD so we would need to tell parents in the days leading up to New Year's. I am still not very eager to tell anyone, but hubby is getting frustrated because he wants everyone to know. Even as I type this I am thinking...well maybe I can go a few more weeks before we tell...why do I feel this way?

No I haven't felt anything either, it's not feeling real at all, I think when the movement stats it will sink in more :)
I haven't had the fluttering yet.
I really think it's because it's nice to share a secret with just you and your husband.
Once you tell people, it starts to be public property in a way lol.
My Mum and Dad know, and when we're alone my Mum tells me
"The worst thing about having a baby......the pain in natural childbirth.....your body is never the same....such and such has a new baby and is so tired".
Last night she asked, why can't we tell yet ?
And I said "Because listen to yourself, everyone has a negative story to tell, and advice about everything."
She actually said she understood, and that she didn't realise she was doing it herself, as she hated that during both her pregnancies.
People can't help themselves though :D
Erin514
December 27th, 2016, 10:41 PM
I can understand feeling a bit reluctant to tell. I don't like being the center of attention so I never know how to make big announcements. And the unsolicited comments/advice are the worst. For some reason everyone has an opinion on babies, even the most grossly incompetent people for the job. By that I mean, I've had random men give me advice on how to cope with childbirth and how they thought I was breastfeeding too often (are you kidding me?!).
But you're lucky, girliecat! The only thing people love to give advice on more than babies is weddings, so your sister will deflect some of that with her big day coming up! ;-)
GirlieCat
December 27th, 2016, 11:27 PM
Thank you Erin and Sparkles. I think the unwanted advice and comments definitely plays a part. I laughed at your breast feeding comment because I thought that about a friend recently but I would never dare say anything. Guess this is a good learning experience for me so I don't do the same to other moms.
Sister is probably a good 18-24 months away from the actual wedding so baby girl will hopefully be big enough to be the flower girl (even if pulled in a wagon). It will be fun to help her start planning.

We've picked out baby's name y2day, so nice to have finally decided! We too had a girls name that we chose with our 1st pregnancy 10 years ago! But it had gotten too popular so we had a nice fresh new list of girls names that we will never now use....lol x

Thanks All Blue - I hope it's a girl too :/ Hubby still has his heart set on the girl name but I'm thinking it's jinxed lol. Are you done with 5 kids now? I'm not sure if we'll go for #6 if this one is a boy..it's been really tough dealing with our 4 boys and feeling so crap 24/7 :(

Hubby is currently saying that the only way he will have more is if we adopt a girl...he dsnt want 6boys....adoption is not easy though!!
Do u feel different and more sick this time? Most people that do seem to have a girl, I felt exactly the same the sickness lasted the same amount of time. We didn't sway though so can't be surprised...i did mention properly trying swaying but he's in the mind set that we would only ever get boys... When i wanted another baby I always pictured another little blonde haired blue eyed boy. I just wanted another regardless x

Erin that is hilarious about the breastfeeding comment.
My friend has the best/worst unsolicited advice story.
She was waiting for the tube, and a man came up and told her she needed a csection, because downstairs would never be 'right' again.
A total stranger !!!!
With a comment like that, i shouldn't think he'd be getting any action from any woman in her right mind.

We still haven't told anyone else besides the kids, my mom, and DHs best friend. I want to announce it in a super special way, I think on New Years... or DS's birthday is on the 22nd of Jan and I have considered having him just go Live on FB and announce it. haha- but tell family first.

I am sicker this time but I have been worse with each pregnancy. However I've never vomited with my other 4 pregnancies just with this one. I'd be keen to adopt but I know hubby wouldn't :( He'd rather take another mortgage out on the house and go to USA for gender selection as it's currently illegal in Australia to do so. But I know that's not going to happen..I've got kids in school here and no one that could care for them while we were undergoing the procedure, so unless they make it legal in Australia soon I'm outta luck :/ Fingers crossed for 5th time lucky lol.

I've 100% been more sick this pregnancy. My first son-mild sickness, DS2-almost nothing. This time I haven't vomited too much but I'm nauseous or queasy all day long and I feel like I have the flu. I'm tired and achy constantly. And I hate that these symptoms don't give you a clue to gender.

What did you do to sway this time?
One attempt 3 days before ovulation. No orgasm (did with the 4 other pregnancies lol). J & D. Only went on LE diet for about 8 weeks though which I'm worried about, but fasted til after 12 every day which was so hard for me as I usually eat breakfast. Drank coffee and alcohol every day (I don't drink coffee and alcohol normally), was still breastfeeding my toddler...that's all I can think of off the top of my head lol

Yeah it is different to how I'd normally eat. I'm just worried that I didn't stay on it long enough, plus I also didn't exercise or lose weight, just stayed the same..but I'm wondering if that's due to me still breastfeeding as I'm one of those that hangs onto the weight while nursing :/ .I do hope the 3 day cutoff and one attempt helped in my favour as my first DS was ovulation day and his 3 brothers were from a multiple attempts in fertile window. I guess I should know in a couple weeks! :)

So I'm having a night and don't know where else to turn to. Normally my friends are great sounding boards but I hate to keep talking about my pregnancy when none of them are pregnant and one has been trying without luck.
Anyhow, I guess my hormones are raging but today I'm just so sad. THis pregnancy has been much harder than my first two in different respects and everyday I have constant aches and pains and am so fatigued. Add in the queasiness and I'm just a mess. But then today, I'm in tears because I'm truly convinced I'm having another boy. And for some reason it's devestating today. And honestly I am not that person...I am such a nervous wreck about even being pregnant that I really want a happy healthy baby more than anything. My two boys are amazing and so different and not one second goes by that I regret either one. I think if I have a third boy he will be completely different too and amazing to watch develop into his own person. But I'm really having a hard time accepting it. Prior to today I think I was just convincing myself it was a boy as a safeguard to my heart but today I just feel like it has to be a boy and I have no idea why. And I want to believe that I'm ok with it being another boy, normally I think I am...I even really love our boy name. But it hurts so much to feel like this.
Ugh hormones. No need for anyone to respond to this I'm just kind of using it as a therapy session.

Hi Babs- I am so sorry you are having a rough day. Hormones can really make us think and feel so much different than our normal rational minds would. More nausea is said to be a sign of girl but I know your apprehension to think like that because for ever lady whose symptoms follow wives tales correctly you will find those who say the opposite.
How long till you find out gender for sure? Are you doing blood work?

I hope you can get through the day ok babs and that tomorrow is a bit better day. Pregnancy hormones can be horrible. I too seem to be more tired, achy, nauseous and get upset so easily this pregnancy. I don't remember feeling this bad this early last pregnancy. I understand what you mean about your boys but also wanting a girl even though your boys are both amazing and you wouldn't swap them for the world. My DS is my world, he is so loving, has such a great little personality and is always so happy and smiling. I am so very lucky to have him and couldn't imagine life without him and I am sure if this bub is a boy he will be amazing like his brother but that still doesn't stop me wanting to have a daughter and wondering every day if I have done enough with my sway to realise that dream of a little girl.
I hope you start to feel a bit better soon and sending lots of pink dust your way.

Thanks for your kind words. It's nice to have some support. I did end up breaking down to my husband...after sex no less...and he was supportive but he just doesn't understand. He said everything is out of my control...which it is...but that still doesn't make me feel better.
I slept terribly last night including dreaming about a friend who is having a little girl. Completely random. And then I got on the scale this morning and had a mini breakdown all over again. I gain so much weight in my first trimester always and the midwives are going to yell at me I just know.
My appointment is next week and I think they'll do the bloodtest either then or at 12 weeks if all is well. If I have an answer on gender that will take away some of my anxiety but it probably won't fix my physical symptoms. I just wish I could crawl into bed all day

After bright red spotting yesterday and today I went into the ER this morning to get an u/s. The doctor wasn't able to give me any information at all and couldn't estimate gestational age because he has no training in that, but he wasn't able to see a heartbeat. I'm 8 weeks today so I think he should've been able to find one and I'm probably beginning to miscarry. I just wish he'd given me more info. :-(

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and KC for the forum suggestion. I have definitely miscarried, which turned into a hemmorage early this morning and I'm now in the ER waiting for a D&C. I'm not sure where we'll go from here as this was my third pregnancy and my third hemmorage (the first two in the third stage of otherwise normal deliveries which produced perfectly healthy babies). Erin, I know it's not anything you will feel up to pursuing at this moment.
After you have healed, you might want to suggest to your Dr's to do a blood profile (clotting factors etc)
So sorry you are going through this.

My midwife did refer me to a hematologist to check for clotting disorders after the second hemmorage but she wasn't able to find anything. She told me though that two hemmorages were likely a coincidence and she would only check for the 2-3 most common blood problems, as there was no point checking for rare disorders. I'm considering doing one of those DNA tests from ancestry.com because you can download your raw data and check for a wide range of genetic conditions. Maybe that would reveal something the hemotologist didn't check for and provide me with more answers.

I don't know if 3 would be considered a coincidence, maybe they will refer you back ?
I was having Miscarriages every pregnancy, and then they discovered I have inherited a blood disorder from my Dad.
He didn't know he has it, so of course I didn't.
It is usually only picked up because of recurrent miscarriages, or Pulmonary embolisms.
Now that I am on the medication, this pregnancy has made it to 16 weeks.

Cystitis and i are old friends. Thankfully since i had a kidney stone extraction and they 'opened up' my urethra in order to go in and remove the stone i have had 90% less problems with it. Sex is going to be a huge trigger for you most likely. Heavily chlorinated pools and hot tubs, bath bombs, sex...all of those were god awful to me for lots of years. I feel your pain. my only advice is if it becomes very recurrent with you seek out help in urology..they can stretch the urethra with rods...sounds unpleasant so i never did it but then when i had the kidney stone removed they basically had to do it in a way anyhow and since thats what gave me the relief id do the rods now if i could go back

Hi Bukaroam. Thanks for your reply. Luckily I don't have any pain or symptoms related to cystitis, so guess mine is just a very tiny infection. I heard it is very common to get it when pregnant. That's why I asked in this forum to know how the experiences are. I will start antobiotocs tomorrow. Hopefully this will make it go away.

Just checking in ladies ! I haven't posted since early December when I got my bfp. We should find out gender on February 4th!
So far this pregnancy is different than my girls .
I'm getting heartburn already with them I didn't get it until the end.
Just nauseous sometimes but haven't thrown up . With them I was so sick very early . I will be 8 weeks Monday .
Eating takes the nausea away . With the girls I couldn't eat anything .
I'm craving chicken sandwiches and french fries lol.
I am so tired I could sleep all day . Besides being sick with the girls I had way more energy than this .
I'm breaking out everywhere .. back, neck, face , ew. I didn't have this with my girls .
Hoping these are all good signs !
I tried testing Ramzi theory when we had our 6 week scan but unfortunately baby and yolk sac were all at the top dead center . The tech couldn't really determine a side . Although she said maybe slightly right :)

So sorry for you loss, Erin. Sending healing thoughts.
I just wanted to jump in and say I got a BFP yesterday after my MC @9 weeks in November. I won't make it back in this group, if it sticks it will be a Sept baby. Fingers crossed.

Put on a jumpsuit today (less 80's tastic than it sounds), and my DH said "Woah you look pregnant!"
So finally I have a bump, I have started to see it a bit more these last few days.
Still have no symptoms, apart from eating limes raw, and craving lime pickle.
Also getting excited about having a little boy now, have bought loads of cute stuff in the sales.
Held my cousins 5 month old daughter today, and didn't feel like throwing her into my handbag and stealing her...so that's good :D

Just wondering if I can join in ladies? I'm almost 12 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby, we have 5 little boys and lost baby boy #6 at 18 weeks in August. Absolutely terrified but we've had 2 scans and hospital visits start tomorrow so it's starting to feel a little bit real.
We did have the Percept (Australian) NIPT done week 10 but there wasn't enough fetal DNA in the sample so redraw is in a week. This pregnancy has been completely different to my others, I'm trying to not let my hopes go up too much but maybe this is our girl? But a healthy baby of either sex will do us just fine!

Welcome Mamabear. Congrats with your pregnancy. So sorry for your previous loss. Do you know why this happened? And did you have any problems leading up to the loss or did you just MC all of a sudden? I can understand your anxiety. Praying that this pregnancy will go smooth and you are carrying a healthy girl.

Welcome Mamabear. Very happy to have you join us. So sorry for your last loss. That is heartbreaking and scary. Did you sway with this current pregnancy?
Hoping for a happy and healthy pregnancy for you and baby.

I brought a mini fetal doppler, but I have to dig it deep into my stomac while laying down to detect babys heartbeat. Maybe when she grows bigger it is easier to detect the sound (I am 17 weeks). Does any of you find it a little hard to use these dopplers? Maybe I bought it too cheap.

The Doppler I bought with my first pregnancy was rubbish and I never bothered to try another one. I was thinking about trying another one with this pregnancy but now I'm feeling movements so I don't think I'll bother lol

I have one and I have found it pretty easy, especially the further along I get. I am 16w4d and I can find heartbeat within seconds now. The first few times when I was only 12 weeks it was a bit harder. Trick is to knowing the spot. The more you do it, the easier it gets. I find her nice and strong about 1-1/2 inches below my belly button. It gets easier- stick with it.

There were no problems at all, Sunday night we think my waters broke (I felt a little busy but I had a cough and had been having some bladder issues so put it down to that), Monday I felt a little off but nothing major, Tuesday I woke with masses of discharge and mild cramping. Spent all day in emergency, had a bleed in the afternoon and passed 2 large clots but cervix was closed and everything settled down so they sent me home. Woke at midnight with raging fever and cramps (contractions), my husband called an ambulance and 3 hours later our precious boy was born. Through autopsy they found he had an ecoli infection. But we don't know if that's what caused my waters to break or if the infection came after the waters.
The Doppler could be because of the position of bub maybe? Bub might be back towards your back more making it tricky for the Doppler to pick up the heartbeat?
Thank you all for the welcome [emoji4] we didn't sway with this pregnancy, I did sway with our last pregnancy but this one I was still in the eating my feelings stage of grieving. My feelings taste like carbs and chocolate fyi [emoji23]
Mummyof4boys getting closer to scan time! Good luck!!!

Thanks for explaining Mambear. Your story is so scary and stories like this really scares the shit out of me. I am counting the days until I reach a stage in my pregnancy where MC is less common and where a premature baby will survive outside the vomb. There is never a guarantee. This is the scary element about a pregnancy. Everything can seem allright, but then suddenly something happens. How do you cope with fear now?
Good luck with your scan Mommyof4boys. I will be having you in my thoughts. It is sooooo exiting - also for us far away from you. I can totally relate to your nervousness. Fx you will update us with pink news tomorrow.
GirlieCat and others, thanks for your comments. I guess I just have to train and be more comfortable using the doppler. I know my placenta is placed right above my belly button and makes it harder to detect babys heartbeat.

Hi everyone, I got a BFP 2 weeks ago so I'm guessing I'm 6 weeks or a bit more. I'm having an ultrasound this Thursday, I'm very curious. Since a few days, the nausea is getting worse unfortunately :( If someone has some good advice for the nausea, thanks a lot :)
We lost our first daughter this June at 30 weeks gestation. It was a terrifying experience so I'm quite sure this pregnancy won't be any fun. And since having a girl was always my dream, I swayed since September (only know about this site since then). My grief actually helped me a bit with the LE diet. I almost didn't eat in July and August (that's just what I do when I'm sad) and I could easily eat less and become a vegetarian.
Mamabear, I just read your post. Your loss is also very recent :( I'm really sorry for your loss. I hope you are doing a bit better than in the beginning? It's hard isn't it. I just feel that with this BFP, I have a 'life goal' again. And I'm just trying to stay positive...
Good luck to you all!
(I don't even know if I'm in the right group - maybe it will be for the beginning of September :) - I'll let you know this Thursday!)
