Hello ~

First, I want to say the I MISS all my swaying friends here!!

I was wondering if there is a 50/50 chance for a girl after you stop swaying?

I chose to stop swaying since I am on clomid and really need to conceive as soon as possible. I am on round 3 and my OB told me on Friday that he will only do 4 rounds of clomid.

Right now we are planning our attempt and we are doing everything that we can to conceive, which all feels "boy" to me and I am little sad about it. ugh!

Thank you!

I would just up your calcium intake, don't eat much sodium and hope for the best.

Can you do IVF?

I'm skeptical of 50/50 odds. This is what I struggle with because I'm fine with 50/50 for my last baby but I wonder if those are really the odds. I'm also pretty skeptical about swaying, but I do think there are certain unknown (at least to me) factors that cause gender to run in families. I'm not sure that you can control those factors through swaying (and am pretty certain that an undisciplined person like me can't lol), but I tend to think the odds are not 50/50 in any given couple. Can't tell the gender of your kiddos but if you have a lot of boys, I second the though on IVF--especially seems to be reasonable since you're already on clomid.

Happyheart, TTC5 posted a study yesterday that I've read as well ... it has some of the most comprehensive stats I've seen (1.4 mil children, 700,000 couples) and looks at sex ratios, birth order and family size. In that group (doubting there was swaying involved to any extent that would impact the study) if the 1st 3 were males, only 52.4% were males for the 4th. So yes, I'd say it is still close enough to 50/50.

This is the study, table 2 is where it lists the outcome of each successive pregnancy given the preceding pregnancies:

FX for you getting your girl!

nbp and lilian78 ~ great tips! Thank you!!! I wish I could do IVF, I have never really looked too much into it as I have always felt like it has to be out of our price range. My dh told me the other day that he would OK anything that needs to happen in order to conceive.... but I know how much we struggle with our $$ and that it would be stressful for him.

begonia ~ Thank you so much!!! That is really good news!!!! I will read it!

Do you have insurance coverage?

happyheart
October 25th, 2011, 10:15 PM
Not for infertility. We are paying for everything that has to do with infertility (doctor's visits, blood work, and meds). Wish I did!! Our insurance is through my husbands job and he works for the State. It is pretty good insurance except for this. :(

Some states have mandated coverage. Michaela is a great resource for that.

Well, Im pretty darn sure that this little nugget is a girl and my "sway" sucked big time(to put it nicely;)) LOL I did the diet for 2 weeks and then got tired of stressing about it so I just quit it cold turkey, ate for 6 days straight, and got pregnant by accident with O-3 timing. I did do jump and dump, because we weren't ttc, but other than that and some vitex.... I had pretty much a lazy sway. I would say maybe try to do the opposite of what you were doing when you ttc the boys but just leave out the diet. Or slightly change it like NBP suggests. I really hope you get your girlie:) I've been thinking about you:)

Oh! Who is Michaela?

HI DM! :) :) Thank you so much!! I sooooooo hope your little one is a girl too!!! :) :) :HH: I do not think your sway sucked!! :)

I can't even say that I am swaying any longer. After I ovulated I went back to my normal eating habits because I really wanted to gain some weight back and honestly I was just stressed about it and not conceiving. I dropped the diet pop (I never drank pop normally). I am eating pretty healthy right now with proteins and veggies trying to make my body as healthy as possible. And we will be using lots of preseed.
I have this deep fear that I will not conceive again ever! :( It probably seems weird... I know. :( As much as I REALLY want a girl, I would be completely over the moon just having another little love in my arms again. :) I sometimes wonder if I needed to go through all of this just to realize that my gender dream can change. :)

THANK YOU again! I am thinking about you!! :) :)

 I'm sorry you've gone through all of it, but love that you see a positive side to it all ... that's really the best perspective to have. I still hope you get :DD: of course!

Hi Happyheart :)

All of this is totally me! I couldn´t have said it better. I feel exactly the same way.

Hope you will have a pink bfp soon!
Where are you in your cycle, will you O in about a week?

That is so sweet Indira! I have all my toes and fingers crossed for you gals!!!!! :) I have a close friend that has 2 of each and she did nothing different other than timing each time! Her boys are O day and her girls are O-2 or 3 days. She said that her food has never changed, she has never been into exercising, I looked at the moon phases etc and some are right, some are wrong....She just seems to fall in the middle:) Easy to conceiver either sex. My neighbor just had her DS after having a DD 2 years ago. Nothing changed with her either other than having 10 more pounds on her body. But she was dieting when she was TTC...so who knows! xoxoxo

Indira- what is your sway looking like now? What things are you doing/not doing? Are you trying this cycle??? If so, GOOD LUCK HUN!!! xoxo :luck:

Thanks for the luck Doulamama. Yes I´m trying, I´m back on LE diet after a 2ww break eating a lot of good things. And I take SP but that´s it, no abstain or frequent release or gels, just want to get pregnant and try to get in a couple of BD around O.
After this cycle I really need to stop swaying though for my mental health and I think restraining is preventing me from getting pregnant. I´d like to be where you are happyheart, relax more about the whole gender question, because that´s the right mental state to conceive (a girl) I think.

 Hi Indira!!! :)

(((Hugs))) to you!! I am sorry that you are going through what I am right now!

I am on CD5, I will ovulate in 10 to 12 days. How about you?

I am trying to just relax more in general. I also stopped temping and I sold my ovacue.

I also had my first acupuncture visit on Monday. :) I had another today and I will have 4 more before I ovulate. It is said to help with fertility/conception because it brings in more blood flow to the uterus... or something like that! lol
I decided to do it because I am worried about my uterine lining and I also heard its great for that too! :)

I hope you are doing well Indira!!! I was thinking about you!! FX that November is a GREAT month for both of us!!! :)

HappyHeart!!! Hi!!! I agree w/Doula...although I've never tried it, acupuncture is supposed to really help and TONS of women swear by it. Maybe it's b/c it just helps you relax if anything. I feel the same way about possibly never conceiving again. It's the most dreadful thought but I know it's irrational. I know you'll get your LO soon! I'm thinking good thoughts for you and hope you get a BFP this next round!!!

Indira, got my FX for you! Taking a sway-break does wonders mentally!

If you see this, Doula and Begonia!

Happyheart I´m on CD 9, I think I will O in about a week. So maybe we´ll be in 2 WW together for a couple of days.
Very good idea the acupuncture! That may really help you. I´m going to look into that for me too.
And good you´ve relaxed, not tempting and such, I really need to start relaxing too :) I always plan for my sway to take 4-5 relaxation/breathing breaks during the day, but then when O approaches I get so excited and just hang out here instead when I have a free moment.
Thanks for the dust Doulamama!
OOTB:hug2: Yes I´m looking forward to my break, hope I will be able to take a real break and enjoy it.

your husband does make 50% x sperm and 50% y sperm because basically sperm is made by dividing one of DH's cells in half, so there is half in each sperm and therfore an equal number of X and Y, but there are so many other factors--maybe DH diet favors one sperm to live longer than the other, or the timing and frequncy of BDing favors one over the other, or your diet or supplements, or intercourse position, or douches etc. So the answer is yes, 50/50 X and Y but i would not say 50/50 of having your desired gender.

I do not think it is 50-50 odds for most people walking around out there, but I DO think that if you were swaying and stopped, that sway is still working for you. Plus I think Clomid will be doing some swaying too and you need to get pg ASAP.

A gal I know from IG conceived GG twins the month after taking Clomid and I know at least one other who started Clomid, stopped it, and conceived a girl the next month without swaying.

Michaela is a very knowledgeable gal who is expert in all matters infertility.

Again, just to reiterate, I think even with stopping the diet, if you WERE dieting and then started eating even a bit more normally again, that message is still being sent to your body that something is up with the food supply.

It is interesting waht you say about realizing how dreams can change because so many of us have had that experience after struggling with BFNs. We think we have to have our DG come hell or high water but then realize we would be happy just to have another baby. Sometimes things do happen for a reason I guess!!
