So I’m now under the care of an RE. I’m supposed to start my first IUI next cycle. All bloodwork is normal of course. I really don’t know how I got to this point. I have two DD’s. Lucky for me my first was a one shot deal with an M/C in between then took a year to have DD 2. I just keep asking myself what the heck is wrong with me. Anyone else go through this and care to share? I’d love to hear success stories. It’s been about 10 cycles already.

7 months of TTC baby #3 and My blood work was normal however my eggs were poor, ovulation was weak, or i simply was not ovulating despite normal blood work..so that could be the issue at hand. One cycle of clomid confirmed this basically when i had my ovaries monitored because of the clomid and we actually saw a large healthy egg and confirmed ovulation AND concieved DD3 that same cycle...after her birth i breastfed for 8 months and she and i sort of weaned off of it together and by month 9 i ovulated and conceived her next sibling DD4...IUI may work but if not you may need clomid or femara to rule out ovulatory issues

Hi Burakoam,
Thank you for your reply. The thing is is that I have been on three rounds of clomid already. First two cycles 50mg with confirmed O and then third cycle on 100mg with confirmed O which is why my OB sent me to an RE. I’m pretty stubborn and not ready to give up but am tired of getting AF every month.

Some people do better on Femara than Clomid fyi. How old are you, and do you have any knowledge of DH here? Hormones, semen analysis?

It’s funny you say that TP, I was going to ask my doctor if I could just take Femera for one cycle before IUI. My husband has had an SA and all is good with him. When you say they do better do you mean they have a stronger ovulation? I have heard that but not sure what people mean by it.

Clomid is not as effective for as many people compared to Femara. Femara is also less likely to result in twins, affect uterine lining and affect cervical mucus. Yes, Femara is supposed to produce a stronger ovulation as well. That usually means the follicle releasing the egg is more likely to produce more progesterone and the egg itself is likely to be mature.

We have had lots of people go through this and come out on the other side with a baby.
I would def. try Femara because if you aren't ovulating well, IUI will not be any better (unless they're using injectibles!)

What injectables are you talking about? Ovidrel? If so why does that make IUI better? This is all new to me so I have no idea what all this means. I just can’t wrap my head around why it’s taking so long.

It doesn't make IUI better, it may be better at making you ovulate than Clomid.
My point is, if you're not responding well to the Clomid, it makes no sense to then do Clomid + IUI. But maybe I was just assuming you weren't responding well since they increased your dose. As long as you're ovulating on Clomid it would be ok to continue with it.

Okay. My doctor told me I have too many eggs to go that route.

It's fine to do Clomid or Femara instead of the injectibles. I just had the impression from your first post that you maybe weren't responding to the Clomid, but then when I reread the post I couldn't see why I had thought that any more (sorry!) So if you're ovulating on the Clomid then they will probably just continue you on either htat or Femara. Apologies for confusion.

No worries, Atomic. This is all so confusing to me. I was going to start an IUI round on my next cycle but I’m going away so it will interfere. I asked my RE if I could just take femera but he said no and to just take the clomid and do timed BD. I ovulated with clomid with confirmed blood tests but I never got pregnant so I know this fourth round won’t get me pregnant. I’m really not hopeful for IUI either. I don’t know what to do. I have to admit this is all getting so tiring but I just don’t have it in me to give up.

No, you don't know that. People get pregnant in the 4th, 5th, even 6th month on Clomid all the time. It just has to be the right sperm meeting the right egg.
Can you tell me if you're doing anything to sway at this point? May be something we can tweak.

I have oatmeal in AM with black tea, first snack is usually hard boiled eggs or 1/4 of an avocado. Lunch is half a sandwich with some greens (either salad or veggie) second snack is usually almonds or peanuts dinner is usually chicken with a veggie. Occasionally I’ll have some sushi (it’s my weakness). Always drink a lot of Essentia water and I exercise about 25 minutes 6 days a week. I take a prenatal, vitamin d 2000iu, omega 3’s 600mg, folic acid 1000mcg and a probiotic. From what I’ve read on this site I think it’s boy friendly.

All those things are great, are you guys doing anything like timing, baking soda, egg white, etc??
How many attempts? What is DH's frequency pattern like?
Anyone taking any herbs?

No egg whites or baking soda cause I’ve read you don’t approve of that anymore so I didn’t try it. As for the herbs, DH drinks camomile and occasionally green tea but he is also taking folic acid, men’s multi, vit d and probiotic and also exercising
With me.
Our BD timing has mostly been every few days from af and then when I’m in my fertile window it’s EOD and then 3-4 times at positive OPK. I have also been using the OvuSense monitor and it’s been pretty useful so far and confirmed ovulation for me. I will be taking Clomid 100mg during my next cycle from days 3-7 as per my RE.

Hang in there! I feel your pain, I’m right there with you. I did two rounds of clomid and ovulated but no pregnancy. I go back to the RE in February. It looks like you’re doing all the right things. Hoping for the best for you!

Thanks Honeybee! It helps that I know I’m not alone. What’s your story? How long have you been TTC?

:agree: all that should be working for us.
Doing guaifenesin???

I was doing guaifenesin with a few cycles. It was taking 1200mg of mucinex (only with guaifenesin in it) but it didn’t seem to change anything for me at all. I will say my CM is NOT what it used to be. Most moths it’s watery at best and some months I don’t even notice it. With DD 1 I had EWCM. Is that normal?

Watery CM is still fertile and gets the job done!
I would try it again. It doesn't hurt anything and may help.
