Hey all! I just read another post regarding the chinese calendar, but didn't want to hijack it.

I understand this possibly makes me sounds crazy.
The chinese gender calendar and moon phases based on conception are correct for three of my four children.
The moon phase and gender calendar don't match up on my fertile days for a few months. I have read some posts on here de bunking the moon signs, but it seems some are more affected by the moon phase and gender conceived than others. I was just wondering if anyone has girls in the new moon-full moon phase and boys in full moon-new moon phase and then an opposite once they were swaying?

Chinese calendar was wrong for me. ;)Whilst you were swaying? I'm just wondering whether the diet cancels out these theories or whether the theories can boost the diet. Whether they are true or not, I can't help but think about them.

Never worry about hijacking a thread, I actually like threads with lots of similar questions that way when people want to read about it, there are fewer threads to weed through. :)

we have done 123,456,789 posts and polls on Chinese Calendar, moon phase, etc and they simply aren't right. If you think about it, if the Chinese had any ancient wisdom that could help them select gender, there would not be orphanages full of unwanted baby girls in China.

What it really means when there are these things that "work for some people but then don't work for others" what that really means is "these things don't work". YOu can always find someone something seems to work for, but unless it works for everyone, then it doesn't work.

Well, they're not theories, they're superstitions. :) Someone found a calendar in a tomb (supposedly) and that doesn't fall into the realm of science. Nor is astrology.

What we know is that both in our results and in studies, diet does affect the gender ratio. Diet changes (even though we don't totally have it all figured out) really DO make a difference. So I would focus on the stuff that has worked for most people most of the time - diet, exercise, number of attempts, Clomid or Femara if u can get them, Jogging/biking for DH and smoking for DH, maybe OLE and soymilk for DH and then TTC when you are ready no matter what superstition says. :)

I wasn't swaying but if the Chinese calendar is such a powerful predictor it should be right regardless of swaying or not. It seems accurate for some people because it is literally 50/50 odds. It's not even gender odds. It's definitely not a theory, it has no scientific basis. Think about it; how can it possibly be correct for every women who conceived at a certain age in a certain month. It makes zero sense to me. I give it zero thought in my sway. It's just not something to worry about imho. :) Good luck with your sway!

I have never found a consistent Chinese calendar, which I feel is the biggest tell to how it couldn't be real. With DD, I found most that said boy and some girl. With this baby, I've found majority say girl and someone just posted one the other day that swore it was most accurate and it said boy.

I've been doing the LE diet for a couple of months, but just kept going back to looking up theories and getting thrown off.
Thanks ladies!

You are right about it being 50/50, I think just when I can see it being correct for some babies, including three of mine I start thinking their must be truth to it, but there are probably as many wrong predictions as there are right when it comes to these gender superstitions.

They switched, most said the same thing, but there were one or two that said the opposite for all of them.

Some gender charts get 2 out of 3 right for my boys and others 2 wrong, 1 right. It's 50/50 so it's going to seem right for some, but really it's because there's only two possible outcomes: boy or girl so there's a 50% chance of it being right. All 3 of my boys were conceived during a new moon or just before it and supposedly new moon means girl. It's all just a bunch of baloney.

I have girls and boys and one of my boys is the only one that is opposite for gender calendar and moon phase, but I did have a very boy friendly diet, so I keep reminding myself that checking on the calendar and moon phase isn't reliable.
I didn't check any of that at the time I got pregnant with him, we had no preference.
I have only been looking into swaying for a couple of years.

What would be really freaky is if it was WRONG for everyone! Then you'd just have to do the opposite of what it said!

It's just how luck works - sometimes it seems like it works for some babies or for some people but it's just coincidence.

Like Einstein says, "God doesn't play dice with the universe" - meaning I believe swaying works because it's helpful to us and our babies in some way, to have a baby that has a better chance of surviving to adulthood to pass down genes. So things like diet and overall physical condition make sense to sway, because they can end up leading to our genes being more likely to be passed on. It just makes NO earthly sense to me at all that if you don't have enough nutrition to grow a big strong baby boy (since boys need more nutrients from the moment of conception on thru life) on Wednesday, that you would be able to grow a big strong baby boy on Thursday. :)

I just wanted to add that even though I totally agree how it can't be true, I did struggle with it. It was hard not to ignore. I was Ttc girl, and actually this year was looking great for me on most Chinese charts with tons of girls. Of course the one month I concieved, it was a full moon and boy on gender chart. I don't know gender yet and cant even be sure of viability as its early, but being that it's my last shot at this after 5 boys, I kinda wanted to try everything in my power. But believed it enough that those two things can't be all that reliable because I didn't skip this month.

Honestly, I find it incredibly hard to believe ever having a daughter after 5 sons, but I know I tried my best without trying to be G-d and matching everything to perfection. Because I realized that even if I did everything and pushed off waiting until it all worked out, I would be beyond devastated when I saw that Male genitalia on the screen. So I didn't do that stuff and just stuck to diets and attempts and exercise and it's out of my hands. I already chose a boys name and accepted I'm going to be that mom with 6 sons, and deep down I hope I am surprised.

I think just do what you can without skipping months. I literally just couldn't exercise and do the diet anymore. So I chanced it on that month. And what do you know. Bfp. Lol. We do our best. That's all we can do. GL
