    gender selection and breastfeeding

    dear dr potter,
i was wondering if you could advise please? i have a newborn son, no3, i would like to do gender selection but also want to breastfeed for up to a year. i feel strongly about this and the benefits of breastfeeding.
however, i am 37.5 years old. is it feasible at all to breastfeed for one year? can i have pretesting done whilst still breastfeeding as long as my menstrual cycle has returned (for me usually menstruation returns about 10 months after baby)? would delaying gender selection at my age in order to breastfeed significantly reduce my chance of IVF/PGD of working for me? i would be prepared to do IvF/PGD as soon as my baby turns one, or perhaps earlier if you feel that i need to act quickly on this due to my age. no previous issues with fertility/ very easily got pregnant with other children.
thank you in advance for your advice.
