Is Maggie a short form of Margot??
Until recently, we'd been planning to name our daughter Margaret so that we could call her Maggie. We still absolutely want to name her Maggie but I've become keen on the name Margot. It's a variation of Margaret but I don't see any short-forms listed for it anywhere. I know for sure that 'Maggie' is a pet form of Margaret but is it also a pet form of Margot??
If Maggie is indeed a short-form of Margot, which do you like better for a first name? Margaret or Margot?
Input appreciated!!2008, 2011, swayed for a and happily welcomed a ! Margot was born on June 28/2013! She's perfect and our family is complete!

Sure! It's not a simple shortening of either name so why not?!

Yes and i love both of them. We considered both and also Marlena but we already have a Marshall and didn't want anyone to be all, "what's up with those crazy Mar-people" LOL

I love and adore Margaret. I knew one little girl named "Margret" and if you did not pronounce it with a strong "GRET!" at the end, the mom would get quite cross and I had to be corrected many times but I finally got it now "Mar-GRET" not "Margaret"!! So the nickname Maggie would of worked well in that situation
It was my grandma's name and I would use it in a heartbeat but I think I will always remember being reprimanded over Mar-GRET so it ruined it a bit for me. Margot is very pretty too, love it.
