Huge temp drop?
I woke up this am to temp, hoping for a rise only to get a huge temp drop? Similar to what I see before AF starts? I'm so confused. It's disappointing- I'm tempted to stop charting I think it's driving me potty.

Nothing different that stands out to me. I woke up feeling warm & comfortable - my chart was looking nice now it's confusing me. I went through my charts I never had an implantation dip before in pregnancy charts so don't think it's that.
Thanks Purple I think the 2WW makes me a little insane.

So . . . After a little research it all becomes clear
Seriously how can I be charting for 10 years but only learning the basics now?
The reason for the temp dip is a secondary estrogen surge. It happens every cycle apparently and it doesn't say anything at all.
I did read somewhere that the lower the dip the higher the estrogen so I'm taking it as a good sign of good hormone levels and nothing more than that.
Oh and just to add: apparently there is no such thing as an implantation dip. It's a misconception of the secondary estrogen surge.

I think you are exactly right! It is most likely an estrogen surge. But you know that when we are actively TTC we over look things we tell others and know to be true!! I know for me each month I tell myself that I will not obsess about this or that but when it comes down to it.....I just can't help myself!!
I am sending you all my boy dust and hoping for a beautiful BFP soon!!

FF did a study on "implantation dips" and they did find that they were slightly more common in charts that ended in a BFP. I have had a handful of dips like yours before (below the coverline) but only during BFN cycles. My BFP cycles only had temps that continued to rise and become triphasic.
Here's the info on the FF study:

Me: 35 years old. Was an infant nanny and birth and postpartum doula. Now a full time SAHM.
DS1: Aug 2003 (my first home birthed water baby!)
DS2: May 2009 (my second home birthed water baby!)
Oct 2014
July 2016: Laproscopic surgery to remove a ping pong ball sized endometrioma on left ovary and 3 pea size fibroids on outside of uterus. Hysteroscopy to remove one larger "penetrating fibroid" inside uterus.
Oct 2016: Heartbroken after DH's vasectomy. Looks like my dreams of a daughter are gone.

Purple I would love to stop charting once O is confirmed I think for the next cycle I will
Thanks Goodmom
Essnce having gone back through my charts this kind of dip has only happened in non pregnancy charts. My BFP charts would be like yours, a steady rise with no dips. I don't "feel" this is a BFP month for me.

There is no such thing as an implantation dip, it is secondary estrogen surge and some people believe a big dip = better odds of pregnancy.
Temps up nicely today!!
