Yep sounds good to me - there is a list in atomics essay about abstain vs FR and so many options that your mind would boggle. Will see if I can find it.

CD16 for me today and we will have our 1st attempt this month tonight. I am thinking I may ovulate on Wednesday, so we will BD every night until the day of the thermal shift.

Thanks! It's a bfn. But I definitely tested too early, so there's still a chance yet. I'm getting less hopeful, though, because my chart still isn't triphasic. The big temp dip yesterday morning was not followed by a rise today. I guess it wasn't an implantation dip like I had hoped. I'm going crazy imagining symptoms I don't think I had last month, though!

How is your symptom-spotting, Emily? Is anyone else here waiting to test?

May: Appendicitis at 9dpo; hospital blood test was BFN.
Absolutely shocked by a BFP after I got home from the appendectomy. Luckily, the pregnancy was not affected in any way by this early experience. He's a healthy, robust little one!

Niva, it is way too early for you. Yesterday's temp could still be an implantation dip, in which case there is no way a test would give you a positive yet. Keep up your spirits.

Thanks, GeCon! I thought a dip had to be followed by a rise to higher-than-post-O temps. But I know not everyone gets a clear dip, either. How long after implantation would you normally see a bfp? Hoping, hoping...

We DTD three days before O, perfect Shettles timing by accident. I know atomic says timing doesn't matter, but... I have read too many small-sample statistics saying Shettles opposites are way more common than successes. If this isn't my month, at least I'll have another chance to get better girl timing. That's my silver lining. On the other hand, I have had wayyyy too many diet cheats during this 2ww so I hope I don't have to try to undo them all before the next O. Ok, now you know my true frame of mind about a bfp right now! Hoping for it, but scared that I didn't give the sway my all.

    Niva,

"Implantation, when the fertilized egg implants into the endometrium, happens about a week after ovulation (range: 6-12 days), and it takes another 3-4 days after implantation (9-16 dpo: days after ovulation) for the blood pregnancy test to first become positive, followed 2-3 days later by the early positive pregnancy urine test, the home pregnancy test (HPT)."

    From another source:

"Once implantation is complete, the embryo begins producing hCG, the pregnancy hormone. It usually takes about 2-4 days for the implanted embryo to begin producing hCG at a high enough level to be detected by a sensitive pregnancy test. So, if you have experienced spotting or bleeding, and you believe it may be related to implantation, you should probably wait about 2-4 days to test (using a sensitive, early-detection test that measures at 25 mIU/mL or lower. If you are using a test that is less sensitive, allow more time. See the HPT Overview for a list of various HPT sensitivity levels.) It is possible to experience a negative test at this point and still be pregnant; if so, wait another couple of days to allow the hCG to build up in your system to a level high enough to be detected, and test again."
