MrsSparkles, I agree the doc seems lame. This was first time I met him. I was seeing the nurse practitioner for all my previous visits. I think he was rushed because it was just a "confirmation of pregnancy visit" and not the actual first prenatal visit. I already told hubby that we will do the first real visit but if I don't like him or what he has to say then I am looking for a new doc. Once I am further along and can tell friends, then I can ask for referrals from ladies I know who have recently had babies.

That's really good that you're going to give it a proper shot.
Like you said maybe he was just rushing.
Last time (ectopic), the midwife who checked me in at 8 weeks was thorough but really blah.
I guess it's cos they can't get too excited until that 12 week mark.

Hope you don't mind me saying this, but your Dr sounds kinda lame ; talking too fast, doing something you're not comfy with, can you change to a different one?
Here in the UK we don't have to pay for the basic NHS care, and I have never been so grateful !
Will have to pay £395 for the NIPT, but that doesn't seem a lot compared to you US ladies.
Then again on the plus side...I have been in American hospitals, and they are so clean and spacious, not like some of ours - my local one is run down and there are no private rooms.
I thank god for the NHS!

Bre - I am so happy that you gave that doggy a home.
Such an awesome thing to do, hope your new family members brings you many years of joy.
I told my Mum last week, and she is being really shitty about it, she thinks we're too old to have children, and that we should take a hint from 'God'

AllBlue - Yes me too.
Although I fear it will all be a distant memory when our little ones are older, seems the government is intent on privatising it

I cant believe your mum said that! How can anyone not be happy about grandchildren...?? My family were a bit negative with numbers 3 & 4 but that was only because they were close in age and handfuls so they were worried about mw coping. Now theve seen ive survived nearly 4 years with 4 sons they are all very happy and positive about this baby!

AllBlue - The proof is in the pudding isn't it ?! They can see how amazingly well you've done.
I really believe a child is a blessing, and you've been blessed with more than most, so your family had to get used to that lol
