What do I say if the sonographer tells me it's a boy?

I am really nervous to find out the gender. I am scared of how I will react. I know I shouldn't care what the sonographer thinks. But what if I start crying? What can I say that doesn't sound fake? I keep trying to tell myself it's a boy but part of me really thinks it's a girl because of the sway. I totally know it could be either, I haven't gone crazy crazy. But I know I will be shocked either way. Ugh this is just not healthy.

Why not ask for the sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope for you? You could use the excuse of opening it with all your family/ at your baby shower/ your DH wants to know and you don't (or vice versa) whatever you want to say. That way, if you are upset in there and are worried how you will react, you can do so privately at home??

I found out the ds2 was indeed a boy at an elective 16 week ultrasound. I personally just plastered the smile on my face and only let that go in the car on the way home, so it is doable that way too.

    Good luck Hun xx

I had my answer all planned out and everything but still cried. :/ I thought it was a boy based on 13 w ultrasound. You just can't prepare for stuff like that. I SO wish I would have done the envelope thing but hardly anyone was doing that.

It didn't bother me crying in front of them though. It did bother my husband and he was really pissed about it. Went to my next ultrasound by myself.

This is a hard thing 😞 im not even sure what id do or say in that case. This is part of the reason i was opting not to find out at all for the next and last baby but part of me thinks i should. As suggested maybe you could get them to write it down and then in your own time and privacy open it.

Envelope idea is brilliant. With both my last sons I did the whole brave face thing/fake smile and then broke down outside. It was hard to do though weird to think back as obviously besotted with them now!

I plastered on a smile with DS2 and held it in until I got to the car.

Same as you ladies. I tried to look excited and by the time I reached the elevator the waterworks would not stop. Envelope is a fab idea. Will be doing that if they will oblige.

I also managed to put on a smile during my scan with DS3, but as soon as we left the room I just cried and cried. That said, I'm sure you won't be the first or last person to cry during a scan.

When I went for my (private) 13 week gender scan, I explained to the tech that I already have 3 boys and that I was very nervous to hear boy again. But this tech is a gender expert, so I'm sure a lot of the people coming in there have GD or desire of some sort, so he is used to gender nervousness.

If you end up crying, just apologize and say that you were really hoping for a girl, but that you are very happy for a healthy baby boy, but that you can't control the tears anyway. Most people would understand this. I'm sure most techs have had crying ladies in their offices!
