    Questions about these foods

I read that the following is good for egg quality/production:

    -oysters
    -olives

Is there any truth to that?

I also read that safflower oil can cause miscarriage. I'm trying to get pregnant in November, I have Vitamin D supplements but it has safflower oil, would that affect my fertility?

And I read conflicting things about pineapple. A few places I read said that pineapple, particularly the core, if eaten five days from treatment onward, will help the embryo "stick".

But I also read elsewhere that pineapple core can cause miscarriage. So which is it?

I also read that eating warm foods helps the embryo stick.

If anything of the "magic food" variety really worked like a charm we'd all know it by now.

Oysters are better avoided. They have the mystical reputation because of the zinc in them but along with that zinc they have all kinds of yuckiness like agricultural runoff that they suck up like slimy sponges and are best avoided when TTC.

Olives - use olive oil for cooking sometimes. Don't bother with olives. Take a prenatal vitamin. Dont' worry about magical foods.

Safflower oil - While a dietary amoutn of any food DOES NOT cause or contribute to miscarriage, it's best to focus on real foods to boost fertility. Olive oil and butter and coconut oil. Avoid Frankenfoods like safflower oil if you can, but don't freak out if you end up having a little on occasion (like in salad dressing or something). The tiny amount of safflower oil in your Vit. D is minimal and cannot affect you negatively.

Pineapple has bromelain which around implantation ~may~ help. Later on in pregnancy, pineapple core can trigger contractions of the uterus so you use it for a few days around transfer and then should prob. drop it. I seriously doubt this does much at all. I ate like 7 pineapple cores when I was 40 weeks pregnant and it did nothing. My baby came about 5 days late like all my babies did- with or without pineapple.

A little spicy food around transfer doesn't hurt anything and may help. Personally I think that all these magic food type of things are silly but it's fine to do the ones that don't harm you.

Goodmom, please don't go thru other threads and worry about the things you read in them because everyone has a different set of circumstances.

Caroline is in a unique circumstance that no one else on the site is in. She wants a girl first of all and asked me specifically if she should eat olives to boost her fertility, so that was my recommendation for HER with the olive oil. Not everyone and not you!

Olive oil is great for a boy. Olive oil, coconut oil, and butter are the best things for cooking oils when TTC a boy. You are doing great.

Don't apologize, it's fine, I just wanted you to understand that you are going to read a million different things on here because everyone is a little bit different and what is right for one person isn't for another.
