    Late ovulation?

This is my first month using opks in preparation for ttc a boy in October/November. I am still nursing my 18 month old but have had normal periods for about 7-8 months now averaging from 28 days to 32 days. I am on cd 16 today and have had no surge yet. I remember when I concieved dd2 and I was using opks I religiously had my surge on cd 13/14. Is this just due to nursing and the fact that my cycles have been fluctuating in length...? Does this effect ttc at all? I keep almost finishing weaning dd then something like a cold or teeth coming in back tracks us .

I have always been a late ovulated. Pre-baby I ovulated on cd 17, with a 28 day cycle. I tried taking b vitamins to lengthen my luteal phase but it didn't work. I got pregnant with an 11 day luteal phase. 14 months postpartum, and I am not ovulating on day 19, but still have a 28 day cycle. This may not be a long enough luteal phase.

AMS I answered this in your private forum.

Honeybee, 10-12 days is supposed to be enough to get pregnant. I have found that the B vitamins do nothing for about (rough estimate) 50% of people with short LP, and make matters worse for a remaining 45%.

Do you have any other symptoms of PCO??

Yes, excessive body hair, and trouble losing weight. The RE said I was borderline pcos. The midwife prescribed metformin, but it made me very sick. And I made sure not to eat anything too sugary. Today is ovulation day, so we will try again this evening (have hr O-3, and O-2 so far).

Got it. I would have you cut back on sugar and wheat, drop all skim dairy products in favor of full fat, and focus mainly on getting some carbs from fruit, veg, nuts. I think you've seen this thread before but if not, there is a version of a blue sway diet that will really help control the PCO tendencies without the Met. (5 from top, atomic fertility diet, follow blue variation). http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...rt-3-pcos.html
