6 days of spotting right after ovulation...

    Hi,

So my husband and I were planning a girl sway for TTC number 2, however our desire to get pregnant this month overcame the desire of a girl so we didn’t do too much, just the E4D BD to try and have one attempt in fertile period.

So I’ve been using OPK anyway to keep an eye on what’s going on. We BD on Saturday night and then (ovulation was predicted for Wednesday), anyway on Monday I had some EWCM and tiny red spotting, OPK still negative, line was definitely the darkest I’d had but not the same as the control line.
Tuesday I had lots more noticeable EWCM and another red spotting. I presumed this was around ovulation and BD on Tuesday. OPK still negative.

Ever since then I have had browny spotting on 2,3,4,5 DPO.
Can ovulation spotting last that long? I’ve never had ovulation spotting before.
I’ve had some cramping but nothing really to take note of.

I’m still 9 days off AF prediction accord to Ovia app.
Just some familiar stories or some advice about the bleeding would be appreciated please.
    Thanks
    Sophie

It may not be ovulation spotting. What can happen is, around ovulation, your cervix gets really soft and easily injured. Intercourse, checking for CM/CP, and even just straining to go #2 can cause a little owie to form and then when it hits the EWCM it becomes super obvious. Then as it heals it can still make some brown spotting afterwards for a few days. OR, it could be that a little lining came off when your estrogen dropped suddenly right before O occurted and it's still working itself out. True ovulation spotting generally only lasts for a day or even a few hours - but the body is weird and occasionally doesn't follow the rules so it could even be ovulation spotting. I would not worry at all because it's brown, that means old blood.

BUT I do want to be sure you are still doing e4d just in case you have not ovulated yet. Since you haven't gotten pos OPK yet I think it's a good idea to keep going with the e4d to protect against delayed O.

Thank you for your quick response.
Yes we are still BD E4D and still using OPK, but I barely get a second line at all now.
I am having longer cycles than usual since coming off the pill in March. My last cycle was 39 days, so I’m on day 29 now (ovulation prediction for CD25) but as you say I’m still continuing in case it comes really late!
    Fingers crossed.

Even if you don't get that second line for a while, in case of delayed O that's because your hormones are "quiet" and then you would have another surge and ovulate later on. So it can go from allllmmost pos to negative but then back to positive again when O actually occurs.

Yes that's perfect - keep going in case that eggo shows up! Eggs live on their own time LOL and so by continuing to BD you can catch a stubborn egg! Keep me posted!

    Me again,

Just to keep you informed, we continued E4D and now I’m on CD36 so AF is due at any time really, but predicted to show around CD38/39.
Think I’m out for this month, took a sensistive HPT this morning and it’s negative, which I kind of knew already.

I never did get a positive OPK so I’m wondering whether I missed the surge as I only tested once a day, or whether ovulation maybe hasn’t returned as I only came off the pill in March.

Any advice for next month would be appreciated.

    Many thanks as always
    Sophie

Let's wait and see when AF really comes - for all we know you haven't even ovulated yet!! Just keep going with e4d.

Which OPK are you using? Have u had good luck with those in the past?

They’re called OneStep. It’s the first month I’ve ever used OPKs so I’m not sure how reliable they are.

I started using them on CD9. I’m usually testing around 8pm as this is when I’m back in from work. But this is usually when I haven’t had a drink for at least 4 hours, and not been for a wee for at least 4/5 hours previously.

I think you'll have better results testing just after lunch. I know it's tough when you're at work, but that is the time of day when the surge hormone peaks in your urine.
