"There no such thing as swaying"

So today I had an appointment because it will soon mark a year of TTC and my doctor referred me to see a specialist. Well she was nice enough to tell me I will get pregnant this year ...but you know what she was EVIL. My regular doctor told me clomid sways pink which is what I prefer at the moment and she's pro sway while Dr.EVIL shut down my whole operation with.."HAHAAA NO! You get what u get. Everyone who has a specific gender just prayed hard enough and got it. There is no way of having a specific gender without artificial doings or so called sway for one gender and clomid does nothing but increase ovulation as well as your chances of having twins In which you don't want because you're young and NOT married" OK?? What does me not being married and being young have to do with anything AND I thought doctors were supposed to be supportive in these types of situation..I'm young and healthy and everyone around me is pregnant so I'm a little vulnerable to the fact that I have not conceived yet people that don't want or weren't even trying get pregnant by blinking. I believe in swaying but really!? I wonder how many doctors feel like swaying is BULLSxxT ???

Well Dr Evil has not read about it in a text book, so it can't be true right?

I"m sure many of them do, but there was a time not so long ago when most doctors thought antibiotics should be prescribed "just in case" too and that fevers were horribly dangerous and should always be treated with Tylenol. My oldest son is 20 and the doctors treated me like a child abuser because I didn't want to give him antibiotics for every sniffle and medicate him for temps of 99. Now lo and behold Tylenol has been linked to asthma and proven to make vaccines ineffective, fevers are actually found to be GOOD for curing illness, and the doctors have basically rendered antibiotics useless by overprescribing them. And they're STILL trying to blame the parents!

I have an essay just for this circumstance that may help put your mind at ease.http://genderdreaming.com/forum/scie...ying-real.html

Some of the RE's people go to on this very site believe in some manner of gender swaying.

My DH is a doctor and he would be very proud of you. He's in the minority of docs at his practice who is actually sensible about not overprescribing antibiotics. He gets patients asking for them constantly and he has to educate on bacterial infections vs. viral ones and how it is counterproductive to use antibiotics when you don't need them.

So, my already high regard for you, Atomic, has gone up yet another notch.

    Aw shucks!!

The sad thing is that it's not the patient's fault (most of the time), because the doctors were really aggressive about pushing them on you and that wasn't that long ago! My brother was on antibiotics for 6 months straight when he was a baby for bronchitis which they now have proven is a viral disease...it's a miracle any of us who grew up in the 60's thru 80's is here to tell the tale LOL. So now people think they need them when they don't.

Thank you so much it does make me feel better. I mean I never believed the whole it's 50-50 from the minute Dr.Evil laughed. I've seen people sway and come on you're telling me EVERY single person that has their desired gender is lucky? NO, it takes hardwork and dedication as well as determination and I am super determinated to have my . Forget you doctor! You're only a year experienced anyway..no offense but I prefer an older more experienced doctor not someone 2 years older than I am who is unsupportive and who say I'm gonna have to suck it up and deal with having a boy! I want my after I have my 2 girls its just that I'm surrounded by boys and even my mother in law is rooting for some pink in this family

My Dr was like that at first but he was more then willing to listen to the info.... supps, diet, weight lose, gels and timing.

He jumped in and said that is how we got our daughter. He has 1 of each but #2 was a surprise because his wife was loosing weight before they were going to try. She made it half way to her goal and found out she was pregnant. Because they were not trying they dtd with rephresh.

Some Dr are very supportive but other are either heartless or thinking they are looking out for your best interest.

I honestly do not believe Clomid sways pink. If it does, it sways very little. I have two Clomid boys. My SIL has a Clomid boy and I know two friends that have twin boys from Clomid. You can get a girl from Clomid too, for sure...but when I look at all my friends who used Clomid, its 50-50 just like without. Many people get what they get gender wise from luck. Its a 50-50 chance and so if you just TTC like normal, you have a great chance of getting your DG, and a great chance not. Some get lucky right away, some don't.

It seems like when you go on these gender boards, that everyone is swaying...but in reality only a small percentage of people sway, and its usually after they have 1-2 of the same gender. Most people have their first without any sway, and then if that does'nt work, they move onto swaying. And there actually a lot of people who don't care much about gender and even if they get all boys or girls, its not a big deal to them. Some people don't want to plan at all and just like the surprise. I was like that with my first three--I didn't care either way.

Not that many people start out TTC #1 with swaying. On these boards, sure, you find lots of swayers, but thats because thats what these boards are for. Good luck.
Love my 4 happy, healthy, handsome boys. Thinking of trying HT for a girl.

Twin boys! My easy to conceive, biggest suprise of my life, pregnancy. I was young then!

The science indicates that Clomid does sway. Not a magic pink pill, of course.

Many people who are given Clomid are given it for PCOS which makes people more likely to conceive sons to begin with, and others are prescribed drugs such as Estrace or use Preseed, Robitussin, Mucinex which undo the way the Clomid sways. So you can't necessarily look at a few people in isolation and really KNOW how Clomid sways for the general population, because women who are prescribed Clomid are a special group that does not necessarily translate to the population as a whole.
