Is IVF PGD Tax deductible in Australia?
Hi! I have seen the sticky at the top of this thread about IVF and PGD being Tax deductible in the US but does anyone know if you can claim anything in Australia.
Thanks

I *think* you may be able to claim a 20% medical rebate for medical procedures over $1500.00.

You can claim it all as an income reduction only on medical procedures and medications, not the travel component. For example I paid $12,000 for 3 cycles, plus around $3000 for medication and freezing costs. I can now claim an income reduction of $13,500 after I take away the first $1500. I hope that makes sense. If you become a GD member there is a sticky on exactly this topic.

Definetly correct , I have spoken to tax office directly and as a family you pay first $1500 after that any medical expenses regardless if here or o'seas include medications you get back 20cents in $1 (20%).
