Abstaining for IVF for Girl
I know it is recommended for men to abstain for 7-10 days or even longer if TTC naturally for a girl but is this also recommend when doing IVF? We had 5 5 day blasts and only one XX and transferred it and got a BFN. We just started our second cycle and am wondering if I should have my husband abstain to try and get more female embryos this time or if there is anything else he could do to increase our chances of more girl sperm? TIA!

NO!! DO NOT have him abstain beyond 2-3 days for ivf. It just makes for a poorer sample and has no bearing on gender ratio.
Some of us have had pretty girl heavy gender splits when DH takes liquid olive leaf extract with a vitamin C tablet. This should be done for 2-3 months prior to retrieval. There is a whole thread on it on here somewhere. Sorry, I'm pressed for time at the moment so can't hunt down the link for you.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is NO known way to have more X sperm than Y sperm (personally I'm unconvinced about the OLE but it's fine if you want to try it). With abstain ll you'll do is kill (or decline the health of) ALL sperm and actually end up with worse success rate because it's a numbers game with PGD - you want as many fertilized eggs as you can get so you can end up with a chance of more than one normal XX!!!
PLUS, abstain, even with swaying, is NOT working anyway so there is absolutely no benefit to be had and very high risks of worse outcome.

Other than the olive leaf, it's just a numbers game. You want to get as many fertilized eggs to choose from so you can then hopefully luck your way into lots of XX. Many times (even without olive leaf) people will go from a cycle that's very XY heavy to getting lots of XX the next time through, for seemingly no rhyme or reason, and the more eggs fertilizd, the higher the chances that you'll get a girl out of the deal.

Hello, Atomic hopefully you will see this! It has definitely been a while. I am not TTC, my cycles have been MIA for over a year, I'm quite certain. I have not been charting but haven't had it....
Not sure where to ask not TTC
