ICSI requirement for doing microarray PGD?

    Hi Nicole,

Is ICSI necessary for the microarray PGD?

    Thank you,

We asked an expert from one of the PGD testing companies that very question and the answer was ambivalent. What we came away with is that the assay is less sensitive to stray signals from other cells than older techniques but the safest approach is still to use ICSI to make sure that all the DNA you are picking up in the embryo is coming only from the egg and the one sperm that fertilized it. Hope that helps.

Thank you Carole. That helps a lot.
I also wanted to get your opinion in regard to the microarray PGD itself.I apologize if you have gone thru this topic on another thread before.
What are the pros and cons of this procedure? Do you recommended on somebody like me with regular pretesting but that doesn't yield many eggs? I am thinking about using it with my last cycle and I was curious what your thoughts were. I'm 34 and I have the option of choosing between 2 probe or mircoarray PGD. Which one would you recommend?

Thank you in advance for your reply,
