    sounds unlikely to me!

Hi Carole, we just had a poster with only one Fallopian tube claim that she ovulated from one ovary and the egg travelled across to the other tube and went down that tube instead???

She was told this by an ultrasound technician who claimed to see a corpus luteum on the ovary where she did not have a tube. Personally I think she needs a new ultrasound technician but wanted your opinion as to whether that could be possible...seems to me that too many internal organs would be in the way!

    Hi Atomic sagebrush,
Here's a blog post from a physician who speaks to this question:
Women's Health and Fertility: Patient Has Only One Tube, One Ovary & A History Of Ectopic Pregnancy: What Are Her Chances Of Conceiving?

My understanding is that it is less likely with an ovary on one side and tube on the other but not impossible. Women missing a tube usually lost the tube because of an earlier ectopic pregnancy or severe endometriosis and so may have adhesions from the earlier surgery which can further complicate the anatomic path between ovary and tube, perhaps obscuring it completely.
    Hope this helps. Carole

I believe this happened to me on my IUI. My left tube was blocked and it was my left ovary that ovulated. the only way in was my right tube. When it came to yhe insemination we nearly didn't do it because it was my left ovary releasing but my fert specialist said it's a long shot but it's happened before so we went ahead. Thank god!!!!
