Help: newbie, trying for a girl and pos OPK
I wish I found this website sooner. Spend hours reading today, because I was under the wrongfully impression timing was everything... maybe I'm too late already, maybe not... Me and my much older DH (45, i'm 32) are trying for a girl. My cyles vary quite a bit, 35 days on average. I started using the first simple CB OPK starting on day CD 11 and used the last one yesterday morning. No smiley face. I bought the advanced CB OPK yesterday and used it in the afternoon. Still negative. But this morning (I'm in Europe) it showed a flashing smiley (CD 21!). We BRD this month every 3/4 days, but the last time was on CD19. What do you girls advice? Don't BD anymore and leave it to the -3 Ov? attempt? Doing an emergency FR and BRD again in two days (so we continue the 3/4rd day performance)? Please help

Samgirl a flashing smiley is not a positive opk, you may experience several days of flashing. When the smiley is solid (so stays on screen and doesn't flash) that's your positive and you should get an attempt in that night. Alternatively stick to your e4d. So if you bded cd19 then bd again cd23, cd27 etc. Good luck!

Hi and welcome Sam.
I would keep going with every 4 days. Just as Pbn says, flashing is NOT a positive and you may still be several days out from ovulation.
Do not do an emergency FR. At 45, your hubby may not be able to get you pregnant with the "hurry up FR" and none of the frequency patterns have seemed to do anything anyway.

Thank you for your explanation! Sorry for the confusion and using the word positive, what I meant was there was a LH surge and ovulation is soon expected. We'll stick to e4d! I don't expect (hope) fertility problems. We have a two year old son who was conceived even before I had my IUD removed (two weeks after removing the thing I had a positive pregnancy test).

Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
