shocking article on twins
This is shocking not because the twins are so different looking, but because of the misinformation in the article. First, the parents' pediatrician asked if they were identical twins - they were a boy and a girl!!! and obviously there is no way for twins of different genders to be identical. Then later in the article the "twin expert" actually tried to defend the pediatrician saying that a doctor would have to study the placenta to know if the twins were identical or not. My medical degree may only be from Google but it seems to me that one twin having a penis and the other a vagina, is actually a pretty major clue that they are not identical!
Plus, they are so gorgeous. What a darling pair!

"She asked if they were identical twins," said Cunningham. "That was the last time we went to see her."
LOL! I hope so!

It s very rare (like 1/1000 ) but identical twins can be different genders as a result of a syndrome which i don t remember the name.

awww they are cuties! And I have heard from lots of twins moms that people will ask if B/G twins are identical, but from a doctor?
For some insane reason I find myself being drawn to the idea of twins. I need to stop reading all the posts about/wanting twins

Here is something...you have to scroll down to the section "except"....
It's RARE! You can pretty much figure if you have identicals, they will be the same gender...but you never know I guess...LOL

And to think that I would have bet the farm on this one! This is the first time that I've heard of this but it doesn't sound like a healthy situation. Thank goodness it's RARE!

Given that only 10 cases have ever been reported of that syndrome, it was still a stupid question to ask!
Bump
Not sure where to ask not TTC
