No, my understanding is that the reason why there are boys and girls is solely because the Y chromosome causes testes to form instead of ovaries and then those tiny testes make the testoterone that completes the job of turning your baby into a boy.

the estrogen you have, is because you need it to sustain pregnancy. You need estrogen to sustain a pregnancy of either gender child (and progeseterone as well) Estrogen and Progesterone It has nothing to do with your baby's gender. That is entirely down to the testosterone that the fetus produces himself.
