Trace amount of protein in my urine.
Hello. Just had me 33 week appt. I had a trace amount of protein in my urine. My doc was not concerned at all. My bp was great. Wondering if anyone else has had this. Of course my mind starts running wild and I keep thinking I'll get pre e. TIA for any responses.

I had trace a couple times and high bp always in third trimester. I went for twice weekly NST and weekly BBPs. Always induced 2 weeks early (minus DS2) for high bp. Never ever had pre e.

Hi 3Men! I heard the exact same thing from my doc at week 32 with DS. My doc wasn't concerned at all. The rest of the pregnancy was completely uneventful.

How often are you going in? Maybe you should go in once a week and get it as well as your BP checked. I have had all my babies early, around 37 weeks because of really high BP. My babies come then and they have always been just fine. You only have 3.5 weeks left until baby is full term! How EXCITING!

i had this with one of mine towards the end midwife wasn't bothered, is it protein that can be a sign of infection to or am i getting this confused with something else? Wasn't a problem for me though - trace amounts could just mean it wasn't a very good sample and you had some discharge mixed in with it to

Trace amounts is a deviation of normal in a healthy pregnancy, even 1+ is okay if everything else is fine.
Higher amounts start to be a concern but midwife/ doctor can test in a variety of ways if you are excreting too much. Different countries have different cut off points but abnormal only starts at a certain number of grams of protein per day.
Vaginal secretions, semen and amniotic fluid all contain a bit of protein which comes out when you pee.

I thought it was a sign of dehydration but I could be completely wrong.

Thanks for your responses ladies. My doc did ask if I've had a lot of discharge. And I did read that some women were told by their doc to drink more fluids. I go back in 2 weeks. She said if it goes up, we'll deal with it then.
