How accurate is nipt? Nifty told me dd but I can not believe it

Lol as the name suggests I'm not a new poster ;0) but not ready to to talk about my pg as I can't get my head round it and probably never will at this rate.

I had a non invasive nifty blood blood test (www.niftytest.com) and was told girl. I had a scan for the test at 11.4 weeks and was also told girl from the nub. It did look very flat. I didn't ask for a gender guess but I was offered it as it looked clear to the sono. She did say it was just a guess

My blood went To hong kong for DNA testing. Problem is I can't believe I'm having a girl. I want to book at 16 sexing scan but I don't think I will be able to believe that either.

I feel sick. I needed the trisomy confirmation as I'm no spring chicken but everything else - I can't except.

How accurate are these extra cellular DNA tests? I think if gave birth I still couldn't except the sex. Now also worrying the trisomy stuff could be wrong

Those tests are very accurate, more accurate than any other type of prenatal gender prediction. Congrats on your DD!

I'm not up to speed on that particular test (I know the Harmony and Materniti21 are good tests though) but I can say that an ultrasound at 11 weeks 4 days is totally unreliable for gender and should never be used.

I am assuming you want a boy and are upset about it??

No I have boys already. They do the nifty test in the same clinics as the harmony but its cheaper as the harmony offers a free cvs / amino if you bad results. Nifty is half the price but you still go to a clinic for sono and blood draw into a vail. As the sono said its cheaper as the company is not tied to a expensive substrate?

I have a 16 week scan soon with expert who is well known for doing sexing scans.

Still I do wonder as who knows if they can get rouge DNA in their and multiply that up. They said they can tell its my my DNA as they compare the proteins, but as long as its not my protein sequence it could have been the Sono or lab worker DNA.

I guess the trisomy test is ok as they are just looking for trisomies in the sample?

Oh so you can't believe it in a good way!! Congrats!!

Interesting about the test, that is good info thanks!

In that case, I would feel darn good about those results *much more accurate than ultrasound IMO!

Thanks, I just don't know if I should let myself believe this could be true

Here's their paper which has been published in a medical diagnostics journal
    http://www.biomedcentral.com/content...-8794-5-57.pdf

I see they got sex wrong once in 899 or they couldn't tell the sex, still in denial though.

I wonder the same thing in a very paranoid fashion as I was told by Harmony I am having a DD, I don't think I truly believe it yet and looking forward to 20 week scan so I can 'confirm' it, but my Doctor said not to worry because a Harmony result will give me the certainty no ultrasound could! I am trying to trust him and believe it, but when you had 3 boys before you always wonder if you could indeed have been that lucky this time. I hope it's a big YES to both of us. Congrats on your little girl.

I am exactly the same. I want the 16 week and 20 week scan but I won't believe them either! Silly really as I was happy to pay out to get peace of mind on the trisomy front. The clinic, person drawing my blood, and the uk head of sales all swear its as accurate as 99.9% but I will be that 0.1% and feel silly.

Fx we are both going to hearing pink

I had my sixteen week scan but I had my dates adjusted again so I was only 15 weeks! This doctor who is well known in his field he is as sure as he can be its a girl as its tubical was pointing straight out parallel with the body. He said if it was boy it would normally be a at 90 degree angel by now. So that's three girl guesses but two from scans that are two early! Bubs still only has a nub. No more guessing until my 20 weeks scan.

How accurate are nubs at 15 weeks? Any point posting a pic for guesses?

I'm still going to be in deneil after the birth! I thought I would be over the moon, but really I'm just feeling "meehhh, I don't think so. It's a girly looking boy"

Please post pics just because we like to look at gorgeous little babies on ultrasound!!

The blood tests are so much more reliable than nubs I'm not even going to answer your question because you already have your answer (pink!!)

If you swayed (even just a little), be sure to post your sway in the "add your sway" section!! Really helpful for us. Add your Girl Sway!
