Please Help: Amniotic band / tissue in uterus

    Hi there,

I am 17 1/2 weeks pregnant, and on all of my last three scans there is band / line of tissue going from top to bottom through my uterus (almost like the divider you would see when having twins). I only have one baby in there, and her head is pushing up against this as of my last scan (16 weeks). At first the only worry was that she would not have enough room to develop if it didn't stretch along with the uterus as it expanded. At my last appt. my doctor said I needed to see a perinatologist to see what exactly this is made of (scar tissue from a previous miscarriage or amniotic band /membrane). It has been over a week, and I still haven't heard from the perinatologist to even get an appt. I made the mistake of looking up amniotic bands and found out this can be really dangerous and actually attach to the baby which can cause serious problems. Does anyone on here have any experience with this / know about this or went through anything like this? I am so worried and am trying to ease my mind. Thanks.

First, you need to find out what it is. Why are you waiting for them to call? I would call until I got an appointment to come in now. Call now. Find out what you are dealing with so it can be monitored or dealt with. No sense worrying if you don't need to but if it is something threatening, you need to understand what is going on.

I really appreciate your response. I spoke with someone from my OB's office yesterday morning, and she said she called them and that they are reviewing my file. I do not have the name of the specialist unfortunately, my office wouldn't give it to me. I asked her if she thought I would hear from them this week, and she said she wasn't sure. I know to them this may not be an urgent matter, but I am so stressed / anxious to find out what is going on. I figured it I don't hear anything today I will call my OB office again tomorrow morning. I just didn't know if anyone had heard of or has seen this before so I could have some insight as to what this was and if my baby would be OK. The waiting is the hardest part!

She had 2 bands floating around. They didn't get around anything so all was well. Yours sounds different to have something diving your uterus that the head is pushing on?? I'm not sure it's the sane thing.
