Red meat also has protein and some things you can't get as easily from other foods like B12
I certainly wouldn't avoid bacon if you like it, but I don't want you guys making it a food group. they do that on some of the other sites - since bacon and hot dogs and lunch meat are so salty, they assume "oh these are great for a boy" but NO it's about nutrients, nutrients, nutrients, and additionally the type of fat that is in pork products when eaten PRIMARILY as your main source of fats it's kind of doubly bad.
Example: IG Diet meal of iceberg lettuce salad and tomato and bacon as a meal for boy with vinegar and salt sprinkled on top - NO (I tallied this up once when annoyed and it had like 3 g protein and no carbs)
HE Diet meal of mixed greens salad with hard boiled egg, cheese, bacon, tomato, some carrot, a little broccoli, some red onion with sweet dressing YES (egg plus cheese plus bacon would have way more protein and a nice amount of fat to help you use the nutrients in the vegetables, and the protein + carbs will help your blood sugar stay up longer after eating)
Now, I know you're saying "but bacon has the Omega 6 fat" and this is true but it's not that you can NEVER have pork, it is that you need to be sure you're getting MORE Omega 3 and saturated fat, which you'll achieve by taking fish oil and also having cheese and egg
