I know! I'm so sorry! If I didn't believe in it 100% I wouldn't tell anyone to do it.
Beans are a better option than turkey or chicken.
Another thing you can try is just eating a bite of turkey at a meal and see if it helps at all.

But remember, it's the FERTILITY aspect that sways. We do the diet to lower our fertility but if someone already HAS lowered fertility for other reasons, or their DH does, they can eat blue all day long (and in fact they may have to just to get pg at all).
I would much rather you ease up on the diet to a level you feel comfortable, than give it up all together. Eat a little chicken, just don't go overboard with it and ~try~ to stay within the 40 g of protein (so choose to eat more low-protein foods like salad along with your chicken.)
See this makes sense to me, because a family that has been vegan for a very long time would both be used to that style of diet so their bodies would not feel suddenly deprived of food, and they'd also tend to be very knowledgeable about planning meals.
My experience - living 5 min. from a 7th Day Adventist boarding school and being friendly with some of the teachers there - they have a lot more girls.
