Well, my daughter gave the U/S tech a VERY hard time at 14 wk 4 days..but there was a nub shot.. but she couldn't get proper pics. That's why I had to go back a week later to confirm.
The OB said to me before he began the scan "it is in my experience that when the baby won't show it's parts, it usually indicates it's a girl"
I think it's your DD, but we'll have to wait to find out!
Well.......team green....for the next 3 weeks then but if she didn't see boy bits I have good hope!!

So was today an elective scan? Why won't they do another one to confirm gender? :(
Yeah, it was in a private non diagnostic centre. They won't redo the scan because they don't actually recommend gender scanning prior to 18 weeks. If it had been the same situation but I was 18 weeks, they would have let me come back free of charge. Just one of those risks I took... :(Quote:

I had an uncooperative baby at 18 weeks and it turned out to be DD2...
Since it takes more effort to really confirm girl, have to be sure their is no winky, I think you have a good chance of a girl!!

I don't think the spine is where you drew the red line. I could be wrong but I think the green line more accurately shows where the spine is.......at least that's where I always assumed it was.

Well that is a bummer they won't redo it. I am going in for a 15 week scan tomorrow (elective) and I asked if I would get a redo if I don't see gender and they said YES!! The first type of scan they offer is "gender determination" at 15 weeks. Sorry you don't get a redo. Will be waiting for your update!!Quote:

Thanks peeps ;) Where I drew the line there are actual vertebrae. Maybe baby isn't completely on it's back, I'm not sure, but yeah, the reason I drew the lines there is because when I have it blown up on my computer screen I can see the spine clearly. I don't know though -- I'm certainly not an US expert.
I really hope that at 19 weeks my scan is conclusive and I no longer have to ponder the question. I'm sick of trying to guess and wonder what it is I'm going to have to deal with this time around. :( I won't tell you all what date or time it is so that I don't have a big build up and let down if baby is difficult again! ;)
Hopingforsaska the sonographer sounded very unhelpful, but if they cant tell they cant tell. With my DS1 they didn't want to confirm the gender at 20wks. Useless.Quote:

From memory all the babies that have been shy or real little 'buggers' they have all been girls!!! So here's hoping!!!
Bring on the U/S. wish our country were like the others. It's so hard to find a place that will do early predictions!!!
I found a place that will do a scan at 16 weeks however was told they will not guess the sex of the baby at all!!!
Thought us Aussies were meant to be more 'chiller' than that ugh.
