Alyssa, for $ 40 I would book it! Will you be having a scan at 20 weeks? Will you be finding out then if not?? Maybe even you tell him your booking it, he may want to come along and see baby aswell :)

Wow I would for $40 though he might feel left out if you don't tell him even though I get the sentiment of surprising him.
I have a gender scan on the 7th of May, if I hear girl (unlikely) I would be announcing straight away, no one knows we are having a gender scan atm I think I would put something like "well that's different" or something cryptic on facebook to see if anyone guessed just what was so different. If its a boy I'll probably wait until I have had it confirmed at my 22 weeks scan.
I don't know why I plan these things and get excited though, I'm so sure its a boy.
For $40, I say go for it! They're all over $100 around me. There is a place that is having a special for $65, but it's around 90 miles away. By the time I paid for gas to get there and back, I probably wouldn't be saving any money. I think I'm still going to stick with waiting until my office does the scan.
We are getting these cards to announce the gender!! 8 more days until my gender scan!! EEK!!!

Alyssasmom: I think I would have done the ultrasound (if it wont make your husband feel left out)
My doctor wants to make ultrasound a t every appointment every month (private doctor) I want to do it because im so curious haha, but I dont think its that good for the baby to to it so often. On monday I will have a scan though, I hope she can tell the gender (im so nervous) Ill be a little bit over 16 weeks so she should be able to tell.
Yes it is difficult although people who know how to do it make it look deceptively easy. I have found a product called Swaddlepod and there is a similar one called Woombie to be the best. You just zip them up and your little one stays cozy like a pea in a pod. The blankets and velcro ones I find that my boys always managed to break out of.
