Hi, everyone:
Newbie here to the entire swaying idea! I'm a midwife and I've actually been a big proponent of Shettles in the past, so much so that I've actually counseled patients on the method when they made it clear to me they were TTC a specific gender. We attempted Shettles with our first child and I was convinced it was going to be a girl since DTD was 3-4 days before O, but it turned out to be a boy, much to our joy and excitement!
Now we're TTC a second boy, and having read a lot of the information here on this site, I'm now pretty convinced Shettles is a bunch of malarkey, and it seems like BD 1-2 days before O is actually the way to go to conceive a boy.
Here's my question: It seems like prolonged abstinence prior to BD sways girl, right? And that moderately frequent release prior to O sways boy, right? (By moderate I mean every other day, not daily). In which case, what is the ideal amount of sex before O if ttc a boy? Every other day during the fertile window? That would look something like Day 11, day 13, day 15 for me, since +OPK is usually on day 14 or 15, and I'm assuming therefore that O is usually day 15/16.
Any input at all greatly appreciated, you folks know a lot more about this than I do! Thanks! :-)

I should also add that I'm in the process of implementing a lot of dietary/ supplemental/ pH changes that have been suggested. We're going to TTC this month, and I'm currently on cycle day 3, so I have some time to get the diet/ supplements on board before O (although not sure how much they'll help if I'm only just now starting them this cycle??)

You sound like you are on the right track. It is recommended that we be on the supplements and diet for at least 6 weeks, but you have already had one boy so maybe you don't need as much as those of us all girl moms.
As for BD patterns, yes, Frequent release or abstain is commonly used for TTC girl and every 2-3 days for TTC boy. Although, as we all know, their are plenty of people who have done the opposite and gotten the opposing gender!
Good luck on your boy sway, I've been swaying for a boy since November....maybe this will be my month!

Thats great news that your a midwife!! Hopefully you'll be able to help others our way and help them get their future DG's, how cool would it be to deliver one of them!!! Or even someone from here already!!!

Regular release every 2-4 days sways blue, frequent release daily for 7-10 days sways pink! If you can have the reg. releases inside and then go for 3-5 attempts at or around pos OPK, then just as ELP is saying, it helps to be sure the crypts are full o swimmers and that sways blue for reasons we don't understand.
