Hi everyone,
I'm so stressed and depressed about the possibility of never falling pregnant.
My dh is 30 and I'm 28. I have a few immune system disorders and very irregular periods. My blood work has shown elevated testestorone a couple of times in the past. I have done ovulation tests and have gotten positives, so I guess despite being very irregular and no AF for a few months at times, I still do ovulate every so often.
We are TTC #1 this cycle and want to sway girl. I'm very concerned about sperm quality due to my health problems and don't want to do abstain despite dh being 30yo.
Question: dh has no problem abstaining, so can we abstain for a few days and then do compressed frequent release on day of positive opk with 1 attempt after first or second discard? Would this sway girl? Or would it be better to have him release every 2-3 days and switch to compressed frequent release on positive opk and 1 attempt?
Should we go for more than 1 attempt? This is our 1st cycle ttc.
Thank you everyone in advance!

Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? OPKs are wacky in women with PCOS.
We're not convinced that timing works. The current "plan" is to bd every 4 days and then once on first +OPK. There is an essay on swaying with PCOS (if indeed this is your diagnosis):

Thank you so much for your reply!
My doc says I don't have pcos because subsequent tests have revealed my testosterone levels are normal. I'm also thin and have type 1 diabetes.
Does bd every 4 days equate to bd every 4 days with a condom and then have dh release inside me on positive opk just once?

Ok first of all, don't worry YET. It is very common for people to be very concerned about fertility and then fall pg easily. I think the odds are very high you will be holding a new baby by the end of 2015 if not much sooner.
I think you guys need to throw all the frequency stuff out the window. It's gotten lousy results anyway and it's not going to work for you. Plus, if you're concerned about sperm quality, abstain is about the WORST thing to do. What you should do instead, is start having regular, unprotected intercourse every 4 days. Throw the OPK out the window, they are not going to help you that much. Eventually, you are going to get lucky and catch the egg.
DTD every 4 days ends up being 1 real attempt in the fertile window. no matter when you ovulate, you will be in with about one attempt, and even if you get one attempt 4 DBO and then again on O day, there will be so few (probably NONE) sperm left over from the first attempt, it's still really one attempt. Please stick with one attempt, it's really getting the job done for us and consistently over time.
Re your pos OPK, you can get pos OPK and not ovulate. If you are getting lots of pos OPK but then are not getting AF 14 days later, that means those positives are at least sometimes false positives. This is very common when a person has PCOS - have you been tested for this? I think you may want to see a doctor, explain the situation, and possibly consider Clomid as that is going to be very helpful for you (it also sways pink).

I am kind of surprised your Dr. hasn't recommended Clomid? I think BD every 4 days is a great solution for you. Takes the stress out of all of it. No more OPK and no more worrying about sperm quality. What does your doctor say your irregular cycles are due to, the type 1 diabetes?
