    Anovulatory cycle advice please

    Hello
I am just looking for some advice and experience sharing please!
I have been swaying for 4 months and last month was going to be our first attempt month however, unfortunately I had an anovulatory cycle. I waited weeks for ovulation to never come and now I have af (slightly different to my normal period but I have read that this is normal).

Has anyone else experienced this and can tell me if I can expect this to reset my cycles? Can I count this as cd1 and expect ovulation to now occur at the usual time this cycle? Or has anyone had a messed up cycle following an anovulatory cycle?

Just to add, I am breastfeeding still a few times a day but my period had returned and were mostly regular for a good few months albeit a little long until this cycle.

    Hi!

It happened to me the month I took Soy Isoflavones, I had AF at the regular time but didn't ovulate that cycle. I ovulated at the normal time the next cycle.

Are you taking any herbs? Some that are supposed to help with conceiving actually harm some people. Also if you've just lost a lot of weight that can mess with your ovulation, or if you have a low BMI, get a ton of exercise, or have been really stressed out or sick.

If not one of those, I'd Guess that it's just a fluke, and count today as CD 1 and expect ovulation at the normal time. FYI: it is normal and not considered a problem for women to have up to two non ovulatory cycles a year, so nothing to freak out about yet.

    Good luck!

Edited because I wrote month instead of year, lol

Babylove, I'm going to repost a similar answer out here because I want to alleviate confusion for people who may have similar questions. Sorry for being repetitive but as you know I like to answer every question posted since lots of people do lurk without ever posting.

I do not believe this was an anovulatory cycle. Ovulation was delayed and then the OPK were false negative but you had EWCM and now AF has come. Getting AF (whether it is totally the same as a normal cycle or not - weird cycles can make for weird AF) is way more indicative of ovulation occurring than a positive OPK or lack thereof. Something like 95% of the time if you get AF, you ovulated.

You can still have a messed up cycle next month regardless of whether this cycle was ovulatory or anovulatory. It may go right back to normal again and it can, or it may be shorter or longer. Just no real way to predict.

Yes, anovulatory bleeds do reset the cycle, you count them as CD 1, because the drop in estrogen is the same as you have on your period and it will kickstart you into a new cycle.

I want you to continue eating more calories and fat to hopefully keep your cycle more on the regular.
