Abstain for 2 weeks - TTC Girl

Hi ladies,

My husband and I have been wanting to TTC a girl. I am in my fertile window right now and we thought about maybe trying tonight. However, it's been at least 2 weeks since we've BD at all. It would end up being one attempt which I know sways girl. Also, I know some people have successfully swayed girl by abstaining from sex for a week or so prior to trying. I guess my question is is 2 weeks too long to abstain? Will the sperm be too old and unhealthy? My husband is 35 and I am 33. Should we wait until next month and only abstain for a week for healthier sperm? Or does it not make a difference?

No I would go for it. I let people go up to 2 weeks. As long as you're ok with it then it is fine.

There is a huge difference between not doing things that may have some slight harm to them as a general rule (because why take any chance, even a small one, for something that doesn't work anyway) vs. finding yourself in a situation and worrying about it. The risks are minimal, we just figure that we don't need to take even a distant chance since abstain doesn't work. But I dont' think anyone really needs to skip a month if they find themselves in this boat, that's for sure! Go for it, good luck and pink dust!
