    Only because they are surrounded by much higher pH semen and CM. Even if hte overall pH is 4, there are little pockets of higher pH that are protecting the sperm until they can make it into the cervical crypts (where EWCM will protect them.) They can withstand lower pH for a little while, but in time it will kill them (and kills the weakest ones right away anyway.)
